  1. Hotels do this just as outsiders can use some hotel gyms for a small fee. I would go to the best 5 star on the island and give it a shot.
  2. One thing that has always surprised me here is the food waste. People seem to like ordering many different dishes of food, which is OK. But, groups at restaurants with piles of food still sitting on the table and they have finished eating. Staff just picks it all up for garbage.
  3. Why not? They could double it gambling or maybe win the lottery.
  4. How many 100's of thousands of these plants were given out? It is the wild west of weed I see people off some of the back Sois in Pattaya selling it at the front of their house.
  5. I have been told they have access to a data base with medical history. I can confirm a hospital I went to was not affiliated with another, yet they knew all about my history. If you lie or try to cheat on the application for insurance, don't be surprised if a claim is denied.
  6. I know a guy that just moved to Pratumnak from Canada he talked to a girl online for over one year, never met her but sent her money and they bought a 3 million b condo in her name. They are living together now. So yes, good advise to buy a house or condo in Thai wife's or gf name, it seems to work out for the best.
  7. I understand it could be a hardship for some, but compared to my home country this place is really inexpensive. Back home: Electric 15 to 20k a month. Water and sewer is crazy 3 to 4k a month. Here I pay around 2,000 b every month for electric and my water 140 b. Water seems so cheap here but not drinkable. I never check the bill for the unit cost here just pay it.
  8. Thailand I think is still the best place for diversity and overall retirement experience. Bottom line, I think many of these countries don't care about having the "hanging out" expats. Pattaya is an example of so many rinse and repeaters. Stay in cheap rooms, wake up at noon, eat a cheap breakfast, go back and take a nap, go out to the bars and drink until closing. Rinse and repeat. Must be 1000's of them here doing this, same old faces everyday.
  9. I am just getting over it 10 days of hell. Down play it or think what you want for me, it was not a cold or flu. Lung and breathing issues were serious, I had to sit in a chair to sleep because I could not breathe laying down. Certainly not a joke probably would have been much worse without the vaccine.
  10. New weed shop going in on Soi Buakhao: Blow Thailand. Looks like a big space opening soon.
  11. A big problem now and in the future is the lack of good jobs. What type of jobs can these graduates do? Sales, hotel, working for the government, travel industry. Teachers, cops, fireman make good money in western countries and peanuts here. There seems sadly to be not much demand or available high tech or high paying jobs. With this, the future for most of these graduates and their salaries will remain low.
  12. I would go to a hospital and ask. But, have you tried weed?
  13. Fl Fights are around $500 in September and beyond. Travel now during world peak time and you pay.
  14. Interesting, only 1/2 a UK pension.
  15. One place I went to a few years ago had great rates, but the pay out was lower when I asked they said: added commissions. So, I always ask now if there is an additional commission on top of the rate just to make sure.
  16. I use Lifecare. The numbers can vary from time to time for everyone, but unless they are way over or under I would not get too concerned. I think going in not hung over and have drank plenty of water before is a good idea.
  17. That scenario does not seem to have been addressed. My opinion is, based upon the fact it has been reported no one has been arrested with weed since this new law that the authorities have been told to do nothing. If there is some reports of arrests, the fear may be it will scare off the weed tourists which is opposite the goal of Anutin.
  18. It is a broken windows issue. It is generally an uneducated society with little English. Even at some of the high end resorts, English can be a problem. Start from scratch Mr. Auntin. Retool your education system maybe in 20 years the 3rd world thinking and mindset will slowly bleed its way out.
  19. I personally do not like that 7-11 and probably would not go there. Now, I would however take a walk down the block to Soi 6 for an afternooner.
  20. Instead of some maybe guessing game, how about telling them never ever take any of it on a flight to any place.
  21. It's cheaper at some of the local Thai markets. But hey, it has been sitting in the hot sun for days and full of fly feces and dust but save money number one.
  22. I know many seem to dislike it, but I agree with Bangkok the most diversified city I have ever been Bangkok is not just Nana only. Much prefer it to fake Singapore.
  23. Yes. Good for you for being responsible and doing the right thing.
  24. So many people I know have made not arrangements whatsoever. Condo, 800 k in the bank, car, motorbike and: ¨I will worry about it later¨. How irresponsible if a person in fact has a family in another country. I guess they think they will live forever. Just dumb selfish lack of preparation and a bunch of garbage their family will have to deal with sometime down the line.
  25. I believe I know the bar you are talking about as I had a similar experience there last year. I ended up writing an email to the owner who responded: You just don't like Ladyboys. Clueless.
