Foreign Owned Restauraunts in Thailand
AgMech Cowboy replied to IsaanExpat's topic in SME Business in Thailand
Go look up, Doug, from "Bourbon Street" restaurant. That's on Sukhumvit Soi 63, Ekkamai 9/39-40, Tana Arcade Alley, Klongton Nua, Bangkok. His wife runs it now, but I think he comes around pretty steady in the mornings. (I believe it was a partnership with another American when they started it. And I do not believe his wife was involved back then.) -
When we bought our house in 2005 we bought a Sofa, Love seat Sofa and matching chair. (I think we purchased them from a furniture shop in "The Mall Bang Kapi". I'll have to ask my wife. That was too many years ago for me... All 3 items look like they just came off the show room floor. (I love sleeping on the sofa. They armrest is just the right height). 😉

I was driving into SCB bank's ATM entrance on Asoke (near Asoke Tower Condominium) when I saw this 'beast' python progressing down the drive away from Asoke (toward the khlong or the drainage ditch). I was shocked, it 'must' have just passed the security's booth nearer to Asoke or come out of one of the rain drains. My estimate...4.25-5 mtrs long. It was big.

I have had both of my hip joints replaced. The first was done at Ramkhamhaeng Hospital, which is a private hospital, but more for middle to middle upper class Thais. My Doctors were Dr. Ratchata Tangsiriphat and Dr. Songat Limpiwatki. They did a great job and kept me in the hospital for a week to monitor the incision healing (drainage) and for physical therapy from a US educated Thai PT. (not sure he's still there and I don't have his name). This was in 2008. I've had overall a good experience. The cost at that time was around USD11,000.00. In 2018 I had my other hip replaced in the US (Houston). The day of my surgery I was required to shower (at my domicile) using the cleansing techniques described in a pre-op training conducted by orthopedic nurses. I then traveled to the hospital. I think about 16-18 of us were lined up on gurneys in a preop room. The Doctor came through, marked up the hip (to be sure he operated on the correct hips) and made to wait while the surgeries were done like an assembly line. Once 'we' had completed recovery, each person was put in the hospital room. The next morning catheters were removed and a therapy session was conducted to be sure you understood how and what to do. You were then released to your friend or family who would drive you home. For Medicare in the US now, you don't even get to over night in the hospital. I will say that the surgery went well, but I've had much more pain in that hip than the one done in Thailand. (Oh, and the bill to Medicare and my secondary insurance was over $30,000.00.

American Driver Arrested after Road Rage Incident in Wichit

555 and I was going to go with California, Oregon or Washington. 🤣 -
I don't see how you could possibly draw this conclusion. After all, America is nothing but 'joy' and 'happiness'. Didn't you see the headlines?

If he could have fired, Ryan, or get him out of the Speaker's chair... So, it's not as easy as you'd like to believe, especially with free thinkers like many republicans. The democrats are more of a 'hive' with hive minded people. Whatever Nancy says they follow along and, yes, Joe, "had" a strong influence with congress, too. Yes, the Republicans had a majority, but they didn't like him.

A different prospective. I think you've got a strong point. -
Do you believe in God and why
AgMech Cowboy replied to ivor bigun's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Yes, I believe in God, the Father, God, the Son and God, the Holy Spirit. Why? Because I can, and I've experienced Their guidance and blessings all of my life. Easy to make this statement here. I hope I will do it if someday my faith is tested by potential death. -
That's not a correct assumption. When Trump was 1st inaugurated there was a Republican majority in the House and Senate, but by NO means was it under President Trump's control. Rep. Ryan was the leader in the House and he is and was a never Trumper from the get go. Ryan fought Trump on everything. It was sad to watch. Maybe this time, if Trump can focus on Commie KaComala's history and policies... ("Comala": spelled the way they want you to pronounce VP Harris' first name)

I guess you're not aware that the Biden administration has been chartering flights to the US from 'somewhere' in South America. Was in Venezuela"? Brazil? Colombia? or maybe it was Central America. Sadly, I don't remember the source, but for sure it is being done. They're not coming in by regular airline tickets. Correction, from AP: "Under a Biden policy in effect since January 2023, up to 30,000 people from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela can enter the country monthly if they apply online with a financial sponsor and arrive at a specified airport, paying their own way. Biden exercised his “parole” authority, which, under a 1952 law, allows him to admit people “only on a case-by-case basis for urgent humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit.”

There is a Visa agent located in the Queen Victoria Inn on Soi 6 in Pattaya. You should contact her. I think her name is Noi. I am confident that she can help you.

Hello Leslie Yew, I encountered a 'similar' situation earlier this year. I was being recruited for a job here and the company was interested in contracting a person already living here, because "they would already have the necessary Visa to work". As I explained to the recruiter I was able to work on my Non-O marriage visa, but that I would have to apply for a work permit and the company would need to support me with the necessary documents. This totally confused them and they eventually hired a Thai person. The GM is a Malaysian who's married to a Thai. I suspect (purely conjecture) that he comes in for a week or two or maybe in months on a Non-O marriage or even a tourist visa (or Visa Exempt. I don't know the requirements for the ASEAN entries) and has never gotten a work permit. In your case, I think you should be using on a Non-B and if you're actually teaching/training, you might need a work permit. I'm no expert, and the IO at the airport obviously wasn't either. I hope you've gotten the advise you need from some of our other members. Good Luck.

Yeah, I agree. I don't know why I kept getting the message that it wasn't posting.

No, I kept getting an error, so I continued to try to make the post. I finally closed the page and then reopened and saw that ALL of my post were saved. Something wrong with my 'interface' with AN. Sorry... I wish I could delete all but the 1st post, but I've never been able to do that.
