harris campaign, clean up on aisle Electoral College
Hanaguma replied to riclag's topic in Political Soapbox
I am a bit skeptical of the good Governor suddenly taking an interest in the Electoral College. He has been a politician for 20 years or more, yet I guess he never realized that this is the system used to decide the Presidential election. Not sure what i think. Either a/ he is a moron and never before had a deep thought about the Constitution, or b/ it is a craven political move in order to excuse the inevitable GOP victory next month. -
True. I get the feeling that Biden is starting to get angrier and angrier at being shoved under the bus by the People In Charge of the Democratic Party. So he is trying to sabotage the Harris campaign as revenge. Not overtly of course, but with a little dig here and there, disguised as a compliment.
-
Ironically, this might actually be a good strategy. Trump is a known quantity, not too many people will change their mind at this late date. Harris is still trying to formulate her public persona. Unfortunately, she isnt very good at it. If Trump gives her the chance to screw up, she will.
-
On that at least, we can agree. As for Biden lying about the input and importance of Harris as VP? I kinda believe the old coot. She cast the tiebreaking vote in the Senate more than once to see their legislation get passed. Plus she was an utter failure after Biden put her in charge of slowing the migration from the south to the USA.
-
That's reasonable. I can get behind.... most of that. And obviously better than Harris, should she win the election. Don't you agree?
-
According to President Biden, she was there every step of the way, involved in every decision, the last person to leave the room. Basically a shadow president. So now she has to own that. It is the fundamental problem with her campaign. She is trying to campaign as a change agent, when in fact she is the incumbent and represents the current government. She's been in office 1400 days and hasn't solved the problems she complains about. Doesn't say much for her competence.
-
Fair point. For her, I think the fact that she represented what everyone thought were the worst aspects of Official Washington, and the people were hungry for an outsider. I think she was also a bit p!ssed off at being spurned in 2008 when Obama was selected by the DNC. And it showed in how she campaigned, as if she were, of course, the logical next choice, especially against Trump. That sense of entitlement to the job rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. There was no Cult of Trump at that time, but he represented a breath of fresh air to a lot of folks.

Matters jack sh!t. What matters most is performance. He performed well as president. Kamala has been a disaster as VP. I can't see her in a meeting with Xi or Putin or Kim and being anything but incompetent.
-
The obvious answer is "of course, just not THIS woman". Plenty of smart and savvy ladies in politics in the US, in both parties, that could be considered presidential material. Hell, even Hillary Clinton, with whom I disagree on just about everything, would have been a better president than Kamala. Hillary is at least smart, sharp, and has experience in the world.

Harris Voices Outrage in Interview with Howard Stern
Hanaguma replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Ah, the "good team" argument. Seen it before. If your candidate was any good, you wouldn't need to discuss her team, especially before she has even chosen one. I don't think Trump was or is great. His presidency was quite good until Covid hit. Biden has been consistently bad. -

Oh, absolutely. I've said he was not my first choice for the GOP nomination. But, given the situation where there is only a binary decision between him and Harris, the choice is blindingly obvious. Warts and all, Trump did a good job as President. Harris was an abject failure as VP. That is what matters, not personalities. -

Kinda sad, really. Now he just licks the boot and panders. Entertainers gotta know when to quit and move on with their lives, not linger like a silent fart. -
People said the same about Biden, "dont worry, he will have a good team". We can see how that turned out. Wars, inflation, and an obviously unfit man 'in charge'. Well, Americans don't want to vote for a team that will cover up the infirmities of the President. They don't want a cabal of deep state apparatchiks to make the decisions.. Saying that Kamala will have an excellent team is not a compliment- it is actually a way to cover her obvious weaknesses.

60 Minutes blasted after replacing harris word salad…
Hanaguma replied to riclag's topic in Political Soapbox
You are making a fundamental mistake about Trump. Voters don't care about his personal shortcomings. They are all well known and already 'baked into the cake'. They care about his performance as President more than the faux outrage the media tries to project. -
If those 'interviews' were fine, then America is in trouble. She was fed the questions in advance and STILL couldn't give coherent answers. Even the simplest question from Colbert, like "how are you different from President Biden?", she fell back on her usual mishmash of 'ambitions...dreams...aspirations..." and could not actually say anything. I am actually becoming convinced that she is not terribly clever or quick witted. God knows it hurts to say this, but I am nostalgic for the days of Hillary Clinton. I disagreed with her about just about everything, but there was no denying she was very intelligent and well prepared.

When they start banning Chairman Mao paraphenalia, let me know. Until then, let idiots like Mr. Young Nazi just wither on the vine. He is loving the attention and it gives him the chance to claim martyr status. If you really want to hurt someone like him, there are two options- laugh at him or ignore him.

Could an October Surprise Shift the Deadlocked Trump-Harris Race?
Hanaguma replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Trump would be farther ahead if he wasn't Trump. Another candidate (DeSantis, Vance) with a similar platform would be pulling away with the victory. On the three biggest issues for American voters (inflation, immigration, the economy), the GOP leads in voter support. TBH, I think Trump is a drag on the ticket. But given the alternative, no real other option. -

It's spelled "Chamberlain". If you are going to use a historical slur, at least be accurate. You are right, the issue is not necessarily Ukraine. The issue is how much you/the MIC are willing to pay to support Ukraine. Also the issue is what will you accept as terms to stop the fighting. Personally, I would rather not see WW3 break out over a country like Ukraine. I don't think Ukraine is worth the blood and lives of thousands of NATO soldiers, nor is it worth wasting more than the tens of billions of dollars that have already been thrown away. My preferred outcome doesn't include these results. How about yours? -

Most voters support Trumps Mass Deportation of Illegals, Pew Survey

What does that mean exactly, other than being a political catchphrase? -

So, only deport after committing a felony? Misdemeanor not serious enough? And there is really no way to discover any criminal past they may have had back in their homeland. Plus the lack of cooperation offered by many local governments makes this impossible. But I am sure you agree that the first step must be to close the border to all illegals, and to keep any asylum seekers in detention until their cases can be heard. Otherwise, the government is just trying to bail out a leaky boat with a teaspoon.
