  1. Hopefully he will remain in jail for his whole life. Thailand has, thankfully, moved on from carrying out executions.
  2. Barbaric. There is no place for this in the civilised world.
  3. Good grief, don't tell me that we're going to be forced to wear masks again and schools will be closed? Surely, they've learned from last time? ????
  4. Strange, they didn't with my wife's recent application. However, she stated clearly in the Notes when she wanted the visa to start and we had tickets showing our arrival date in the UK (even though UKVI advise not buying tickets before the visa is issued).
  5. I might be wrong, but I have always understood that children who are British By Descent (i.e. through a British parent) cannot pass on their citizenship to their children if born abroad. However, if they move to live in the UK and have children there, their kids will be British.
  6. Yes, you have to tell them when you want the visa to start.
  7. No, you can request the date you want the visa start from.
  8. If your daughter is British she needs to get her UK passport, as she won't be able to get a UK visa in her Thai passport. If a person who is a British citizen, or has the right of abode in the UK, applies for a visitor visa or for settled status to be entered into a foreign passport, the application should be refused. This is because section 1(1) of the Immigration Act 1971 confers complete exemption from UK immigration control on persons with the right of abode, subject to proof of that right. As such a person with the right of abode in the UK should not be given leave to enter or remain under the Immigration Rules. If you have a visa application from a person who you are satisfied has the right of abode in the UK, the person should be advised to apply for a certificate of entitlement instead. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/right-of-abode-roa/right-of-abode-roa?fbclid=IwAR1kZx7pRzRtmoCDHijtjmuF2NLEvyATgKCAJ-ebRqc3B7qLuxaGF9bqOLI

  10. Glad to be of help ????
  11. Indeed. There are not many more controversial topics than capital punishment, other than maybe abortion and trans-rights!
  12. It's called artistic licence. They weren't making a documentary ????
  13. Just the best. Very sad.
  14. Using the death penalty precludes the definition of being civilised. In my opinion.
  15. And Singapore is considered a 'civilised' country? ????
  16. An IDP is just a copy/translation of your national licence, and isn't required in Thailand for most (English language) national licences. Some Thai police officers might disagree, but then they also don't seem to care about helmet or seat belt laws either! You can only (legally) use your national licence for a determined period and then you should convert your national licence to a Thai licence.
  17. Although your Thai DL shows your passport number it doesn't show your Permission to Stay stamp. A legit hotel needs this information to report your stay.

  19. An online approval can sometimes take 14 days after the due date to be received. My last one did. If it shows as 'pending', I wouldn't bother going to Immigration to "clear that up". Just be patient.
  20. As others have said, Thailand is extremely safe, apart from the roads and especially if you use motorbikes.
  21. Yes, the online chat is usually excellent. There was a message about a week ago that they were upgrading the online chat, but since then it seems to have disappeared! Hopefully not permanently. I use AIS Fiber too and they told me I should reset the router every day! Needless to say I don't do this but so far, it's been OK. However, rebooting does seem to solve most problems! Glad you got it sorted.
  22. If you really believe it is that much of a problem, you'd need to ban all social media. Most people have problem with TikTok because of its link with China, not because of any damage it may cause to its users.
  23. Since they sorted the issue with the Asia server (in Singapore) it's been working fine for me. The online support does seem to be down though. I've sent an email before and got a reply after about 3 days.
