  1. The OP provides some valuable information on alternatives to local storage, but..... Generally I don't trust cloud storage, especially the free Gobble and Microslut versions. Anything free makes you the product regardless of their privacy claims. Admittedly I'm a privacy tin foil (really aluminum foil since I couldn't find a cheap source of tin foil and lead foil is too heavy) hat guy. Even if they are reputable their site can be hacked. And if you have to be careful about what you put in the cloud such as passwords/photos/bank info then you still must have another secure place to keep those things. At that point why not just use a NAS hidden at your house? Personally I use an external 1tb USB drive and two 500gb thumb drives that I sync regularly by hand. I hide the thumb drives. Such a pity that wonderful things like the internet and social media so quickly become liabilities and vulnerabilities. You must have an advanced degree in data security and a healthy dose of paranoia to feel safe now. At least I have one of those ! Modern life.
  2. For millenia animals including insects and mammals such as humans have sought conscious altering drugs of all types. That's unlikely to stop regardless of legislation or even what you personally think about it. All drugs should be legal and available, as is gradually, inexorably, happening globally. Conciousness cannot and should not be legislated, especially by narrow-minded people who stand to profit by making it either legal or illegal. Do you think webmd may have some stake in Big Pharma? No, of course not. What a silly thought.
  3. Be very careful about criticizing the content of webfact or any ASEANnow authored reports. I did and got suspended.
  4. Update: same afternoon I tried the expatvac link again, this time using a Gmail.com email address. Accepted with no problem. Rest of the process was clear and simple, EXCEPT entering my birth date. The calendar widget is the only way to do it. So I had to scroll through 12 months for 71 years to get to my birth date!! That alone took over 5 minutes of constant mouse clicking. Finally had to upload passport and visa files. I made each a PDF and instead of using the "browse" method of selecting files I highlighted both files using CTRL-Left click, and dragged and dropped them into the appropriate file box on the registration tab. Then got a confirmation screen followed by a confirmation email, telling me to wait. I live in Huahin, so we'll see what happens. Fingers crossed. I had resigned myself to waiting until December of later for Moderna or Pfizer. Would love to get Pfizer soon though.
  5. Wait. What about the two Thai and cop that helped the victim? Typical Thainess? Can't have it both ways. Seems that the consensus on TVF is that all Thai hate and loathe all farang. That hasn't been my experience, though I've met a few.
  6. Great news. Did you get Pfizer, as promised? I'll try again with Gmail. Two weeks between jabs? Hmm. I thought it was longer. Will the second shot be Pfizer too? I don't use Gmail much now since I moved most of my accounts to ProtonMail, a very secure email client in Switzerland. I don't like the way Gmail monitors and records all the email content.
  7. No. As I said, I never completed the registration. My email address was flagged as invalid. Haven't tried again with different email yet.
  8. Thanks. I typed it by hand, all caps, and checked it carefully before clicking 'next'. I've also noticed that my phone keyboard will insert a space after the 'period' but also checked that carefully using the arrow keys to scroll each character. No joy. I'll give it another go on my laptop. If it fails again I'll use my Gmail address so any info will be available to the whole world, for a price of course.
  9. Indeed. Unfortunately some people indulge in judgment and criticism of others as a hobby. I guess it's a way of polishing up their own self-image.
  10. Thank you. I've stated this several times in other replies in the past. Ethanol has been consumed by humans, other animals, and even insects (butterflies) for millenia. Yes, it is typically adulterated to prevent abuse when specifically used for non-consumption, as you say. When we used it at university for organic Chem lab courses we were warned that it was tainted with jet fuel. Methanol is a killer and causes blindness before death.
  11. I just went to the site and entered my email address. It flagged it as an invalid email, even though I checked it very carefully and tried twice. This was on my phone. I'll try on my laptop, but I don't expect different results. It just never ends does it? Anybody else have better experience or same issue? Suggestions?
  12. Finally, a world renowned virologist/physician steps in to clear up this previously mysterious issue. I just threw out the box of 3M N99 and N95 masks I bought. Woo hoo. Free at last. Thanks so much for the clarification and so early in your TVF career. You will fit in nicely.
  13. Perhaps others, like me, overplay their alcohol consumption just to tweak the prohibitionists on TVF. It usually works too. 55555 Personally I avoid becoming "deeply disturbed" about other's personal lifestyle choices. There's many other things more worthy of my anxiety. But everybody needs a hobby I suppose.
  14. Correct. I've gotten accustomed to buying inferior Chinese goods here because little else is available. However, I'm drawing the line at vaccines.
  15. I've bought Anker products, SanDisk thumb drives, and an Asus router from Lazada that were authentic. All were from Flagship stores. However I contacted all three parent companies and verified that the 'Flagship' store on Lazada was legitimate. I have not bought one but did research that pointed me to APEMAN car cameras, several dual camera products available. Have a look. Good luck.
  16. Many expats? Perspective I guess. Americans? Maybe a few living near Bangkok. Maybe. You didn't really respond to my primary comment. Specifically your speculation about an unverified agreement with the USA. I will take that as a tacit acknowledgement of wish thinking.
  17. Perhaps so, but it also doesn't mean that the RTG made any such commitment or wouid honor it if they did. Remember the cold War "trust but verify" motto? And handing over 5mil in cash to the demonstrably corrupt military junta is simply madness. You and others have made such arguments before, but to me they are not compelling and represent wish thinking. In any event, they are not helpful speculations. We have enough such groundless speculation going around as it is, as well as outright lies from the very same RTG you propose trusting. What is very clear is the US government has made no bona fide effort to aid taxpaying expats in Thailand. That is a fact, not speculation. Putting lipstick on a pig changes nothing.
  18. It's these numbers that lead me to doubt the Thai vaccine numbers. My trust quotient for thai government announcements was depleted months ago. Time will tell.
  19. Ensure that the lamp post is in good repair and not made in China. Ditto for rope. Just sayin'
  20. From the OP : " After the divorce was finalized the husband trashed the house."
