Brass fitting for fresh water with straight and tapered thread - how to?
Sigma6 replied to OneMoreFarang's topic in DIY Forum
Parallel threads should seal at the bottom or on the shoulder using either dowty seal (bonded washer), O'ring, copper washer etc Tapered threads use PTFE tape, or liquid thread sealant, like loctite Folk using PTFE tape on parallel threads are cowboys - and yes it may work, if the pressure is low enough, and you jam enough in, but it isnt as per the intention. As someone else stated; mixing between the 2 most common pipe threads (NPT and BSP) isnt ideal either. One of those connectors in your pics looks like it may be a hose type connector. The wall connector you have will be 1/2" NPT or BSP (Im not sure what is prevalent here, but someone else said its NPT, which is the American standard) -
No way. He'll be blacklisted for 3 years.

Does Australia not pay out the state pension if you have money? sounds odd. How much is it worth per month? If he has a secure government job, I'd imagine the superannuation is good also? -

Parking pickle: Bangkok condo resident slapped with 20,000 baht fine
Sigma6 replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Agreed, and yet some comment here as though it’s a reasonable rule. Most condos have around 60% parking, this is just the accepted level based on average car ownership. my room comes with 1 space included, and I can leave it parked for 15 days or 15 months. I wouldn't be paying that fine. Ridiculous. -
I think its all in the plan. He'll get hospital arrest as its more comfortable, until his release. I saw mentioned on the news yesterday that, out of blue, the former yellowshirt leaders case was due a decision in the next few days. It was quoted my some MP that he would get the charges / case dropped if Taksin did. This is what I think may play out; both the red and yellows are apeased by 'their guy' being granted their freedom. It makes sense now that they are one big happy family ????

Booking-sites for SMALL Thai towns, upcountry?
Sigma6 replied to henrik2000's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
I search on google maps then call directly. I find with the smaller places, the call-in price is often better than the booking site's rate. -
Thai Android users lose money in ThaID app scam orchestrated via SMS
Sigma6 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It would take my card being skimmed (possible) or my Kbank account being hacked (unlikely). I dont see another angle for attack. Im not scanning random QR codes anywhere; I scan my bills, or the till in Makro, for example I dont click on BS links in any messages, or install unknown random apps. I think common sense covers most risks. -
Thai Android users lose money in ThaID app scam orchestrated via SMS
Sigma6 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I have an account, with a debit card, app, frequently use QR codes, and pay all my bills via the app. I've never been scammed. Sounds like you are overly paranoid, to the point of making your life harder. -
Listening to UK radio online (and watching tv playback come to that)
Sigma6 replied to Kevin1908's topic in Audio Visual AV
Some IPTV providers have a country lock - so the 1st thing to check is to ask if your account is locked to your home country. -

All BBC radio is available on the BBC sounds app (no live sports coverage) For TV get a firestick and an IPTV package - easy to take everywhere you travel -

Warning from marine officials after box jellyfish found in Krabi waters
Sigma6 replied to snoop1130's topic in Krabi News
scary creatures If you are stung, your chance of survival or even getting yourself to the shore is virtually zero. The pain has been described as so excruciating that you will probably go into shock and drown, even before the full affect of the venom takes place. https://www.aims.gov.au/docs/projectnet/sea-wasp.html#:~:text=If you are stung%2C your,of the venom takes place.
