Border run after Ed visa.
DrJack54 replied to Daithi85's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
OP, you have best answer already above from @hydraides Pay the grease with a smile. -
You need a multiple entry Non O. Most folk obtain that in Savannakhet. 2 week on off rotation won't work for single entry non O with annual extensions Even oil gas on month on/off find it difficult given the under consideration period and home visit. If you were 50+ you could do non O retirement and extensions that would work.

TM30 for IT Square or Sam Yan
DrJack54 replied to Bingo66's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Thread has run its course. TM30 requirement for 30 day extension for visa exempt and visa exempt entry is hit and miss. -
TM30 for IT Square or Sam Yan
DrJack54 replied to Bingo66's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Selected this one random sentence. Absolute nonsense. There are zillion posts that state a TM30 was required for 30 day extension for visa exempt or tourist visa entry. Yes can be hit and miss as is the norm at various immigration offices. More often than not a TM30 is required. Your posts are incorrect. -
TM30 for IT Square or Sam Yan
DrJack54 replied to Bingo66's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
If you are so confident given your extensive experience then why start a thread. For folk here on tourist visa or visa exempt then most likely will require a TM30 for a 30 day extension. Also if entered on tourist visa you would obtain your extension at CW. BTW: BKK refers to an airport. -
Non Immigrant O retired
DrJack54 replied to glegolo18's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Your non O was a single entry? Just to be sure. -
Non Immigrant O retired
DrJack54 replied to glegolo18's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You cannot extend from a non O based on retirement by one month. You obtain 12 month extension. There are financial requirements -
Where to start. Suggest you include tax considerations when/if it happens. 6 weeks for under consideration period is because you used an agent. Doing the process yourself you keep your pp and the consideration period is more like 3-4 weeks. The 400k only needs to be in the bank for 2 months+ consideration period. Can then be withdrawn as you wish. Extensions are 1900b Easy process , no need for an agent.

What visa option would you recommend?

Out of interest what are the attendance requirements and I'm guessing the cost approx 35k ? -
What visa option would you recommend?
DrJack54 replied to Five5fife's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
No. You will obtain a METV that's not your problem. Immigration in Thailand re airports etc may have different attitude. Anyway continue with Ed visa etc. It's not sustainable. -
TM30 for IT Square or Sam Yan
DrJack54 replied to Bingo66's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Exactly. OP, needs to attend IT mall LakSi. You also correctly point out that it's the Doc Check Chicks that may send him off to obtain TM30. OP, imo you will need a TM30. Ask your hotel for screenshot of them filing a TM30. If they cannot then check into another hotel that will provide that. OP, the newish Red line can take you to Laksi -
Renewed driving licences at DLT Surin

That process certainly would not cut it at most DLT throughout Thailand. Surprised as Udon Thani hardly the boon docks -
Renewed driving licences at DLT Surin
DrJack54 replied to Sjoerd's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Is that accurate. So you didn't require anything from immigration. Didn't do colour test, reaction time etc test, etc Didn't have person take your picture, sign etc -
OP, I would consider just opening bank account in Pattaya. Not Bangkok Bank. You have that already in Bangkok. Suggest Kasikorn for two reasons. Same as Bangkok Bank it does not have the 50k baht limit if using WISE for your transfers. Second is with Kasikorn you can obtain 12 month bank statement by visiting branch. Unlike BB that's requires days. Kasikorn might open account without certificate of residence given that you have annual extensions from a non O . If you are in the 400k window transfer 400k to new bank account from Bangkok Bank and then again few days later. Will be messy for first extension as you will need letters/statements from both banks. After that home free.

DrJack54 replied to Five5fife's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Outside of marriage and PE (elite) you don't have many options. You could possibly get away with an METV every year, which would mean 9 months in and 3+ out. You could be more flexible and spend time elsewhere. Don't mean few days more like couple of months. (Vietnam would be just one example) Example SETV to Thailand+ extension followed by couple months out......wash and repeat. If you have a serious thing going on then marry the chick. Financials for non O based on marriage+ annual extensions is a walk in the park. -
Covered in this thread https://aseannow.com/topic/1319238-1-year-multi-non-o-based-on-marriage-savannakhet-jan-2024-report/ Take note of post from @Paul Robson "He put that he had to season the 400k for 2 months. Need to edit that I do not think that is correct. The money does not need to be seasoned as far as I can surmise. "

Next day after your birthday. Same as the OP , I waited till after my birthday. My license was 2 months expired when I went to DLT to renew. My understanding is license can be up to one year expired and can still renew. Don't take that as definitive -
Renewed driving licences at DLT Surin
DrJack54 replied to Sjoerd's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Sounds about right. I opted to not renew my bike license so I paid 505b for the car only. Funny that I handed over 550b and there was no way the officer would accept 45 baht tip. -

Nice report. That's a game from immigration. When renewing car & bike (as you found out) you only need one original and photocopy. CW has a form for the COR. The trick is to only tick one box. eg Car license. 500baht is ridiculous, however guessing you received it on the spot. It's 200b at CW and takes 1-2 weeks. Some offices it's free..
