Thai visa… extend or new?
DrJack54 replied to Kwaibill's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
OP, good post from @TheAppletons Also regarding continue with extensions. Quote from him "I'd renew my existing extension of stay and go from there" Good advice. Just insure that you obtain reentry permit on exit. Can be obtained at local immigration office (exit date not required) or obtain at airport on exit -

Best time of day for jomtien immigration?
DrJack54 replied to pomchop's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
This attached thread is from OP that made report you refer to. Another poster in that thread stated. ". Dr Jack54- I was sent packing when I tried to get extension 4 days before expiration day. Was told to come back 2 days later and then, thanks to holiday and Sunday, it was processed 2 days too late but no fine. The whole system sucks..." I have read other posts along same lines re Jomitien. You have not had that experience. Great. OP of this thread extensively posted in attached thread Feb this year. https://aseannow.com/topic/1318842-jomtien-immigration-still-same-30-day-extensions-can-only-be-done-1-business-day-prior/ -
Best time of day for jomtien immigration?
DrJack54 replied to pomchop's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I recall your detailed post in February this year and your clearly aware many folk attend early.. Post above is standard/good suggestion re time. One option is to use agent. Cost approx 4k which includes the 1900b application. Not sure of current "behavior" of Jomitien immigration. There were reports of some folk sent away and told to return closer to expiry of current permission of stay. Other immigration offices usually couple weeks early is fine. Note: for anyone who entered Thailand with eVisa a copy of that required. -
Thai visa… extend or new?
DrJack54 replied to Kwaibill's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Easy for folk like me to type "don't worry about it" .....fact is your Thai wife has green card and is married to USA citizen. Thinking the advantage of ongoing extensions is that with a reentry permit you can exit Thailand and return with no worries. Some folk, myself included, obtain a multi reentry permit at time of extension renewal Good luck -
Change from Visa Exempt to Non-O
DrJack54 replied to Moti24's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Help me out. My understanding is that for final stamp after under consideration period...you can even send a representative. I vaguely recall our great man ubonjoe sending daughter to obtain final stamp. Point of question is for those that wish to travel within Thailand and date for final stamp is inconvenient. -
What are my visa options?
DrJack54 replied to rudi49jr's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Just my opinion. First up there is no visa for 6 months that would suit you best eg METV. As for taxation....I would take a deep breath. Personally don't believe your Dutch pension will be taxed. Bit off topic as taxation is topic covered in other forums (extensively) Having a annual extensions from a non O retirement is no problem to travel to other countries. You just need to buy a reentry permit. -

What are my visa options?
DrJack54 replied to rudi49jr's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
As posted earlier....one option it to obtain non O (retirement) eVisa in your country. That provides a 90 day stamp on entry. With a non O visa you can open a bank account. That will be first item on the "to do" list. What's the plan of 6 months each year in Cambodia -
What are my visa options?
DrJack54 replied to rudi49jr's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
He has embassy income letter available for extensions from a non O. Assume the 30-50k you mention is for visa agent. Ongoing annual extensions less than 15k. Better options available It's possible the 6 month thing is OP concern with taxation. -
What are my visa options?
DrJack54 replied to rudi49jr's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
That's good news. For non O retirement annual extensions there are two methods. Money in bank (800k) OR income method. Being Dutch you can use income method. Is the 70k per month that you mentioned a pension? Since you dont have a Thai bank account you best option is to obtain the Non O retirement eVisa outside of Thailand. BTW: The Thai gf doesn't come into the equation for immigration purposes. What's with the 6 months in Cambodia -

What is passport country? Asking as some embassies provide "income letter" and some (UK, USA, AU) do not. Do you have a Thai bank account in your name only? -

DrJack54 replied to seajae's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments

new Wise account details, bank says fraud
DrJack54 replied to seajae's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I was just in WISE app and did a mock run. Have a look at these two screenshots. The first one is start of transfer. Paying from my wallet. Then when I hit $5000 (second screenshot) it show balance of wallet $60. So with that in mind....seems steps would be 1. Transfer 5k to my wallet from Westpac account. 2. Then go to WISE app and transfer from the wallet that would have $5060 Any thoughts on this plan -
new Wise account details, bank says fraud
DrJack54 replied to seajae's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
So! As per earlier posts I have now obtained my account (wallet) with WISE. ACCOUNT NAME : my name BSB : 774001 A/C : ********* (number issued by WISE) I just now did a small test transfer to that Account from my Westpac bank using banking app. I set up new payee/biller recipient in my bank. Instantly as I hit PAY to the account (outlined above) the money landed into the wallet. Now the question: can anyone outline the process to transfer say $5k ? -
Thai visa… extend or new?
DrJack54 replied to Kwaibill's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The only extensions of your current permission of stay is 12 month extension (you refer to as "get new marriage visa" OR 60 day extension to visit wife. I would obtain 12 month extension prior to travel. Keep in mind an "under consideration period" is required. You should do that as soon as possible. Are you using income method or money in bank method. Remember to also obtain reentry permit. That can be done at immigration or airport. Which is office? The only other option would be obtain the 60 day extension to cover period to exit Thailand. Then subsequently return to Thailand visa exempt and obtain a "new" non O at your immigration and then couple months later the 12 month extension -

new Wise account details, bank says fraud

Not a rant at all. I have found it very nerve racking. I'm not a shrinking violet but was stressed by this. Relaxed now as funds arrived. Still bit worried about next transfer. I'm moving to monthly income method for extensions (retirement) so I want things simple. Previously I used OFX however comparison re costs moved me to Wise. Note for others: OFX were fantastic re assistance via phone. They call from Sydney not call center. Years ago.
