You can bounce Nong Khai same day. Personally since you are located in Bangkok return flight to Udon Thani would be my choice. That would give you 60 days that you could extend by 30. That would cover you till almost end of October. So you may not even require the 30 extension. You mention Vietnam. Hard to beat Saigon for time out of Thailand.

For plan B you would need to reenter after expiry of multi reentry permit. Please advise what immigration has to say. Can't see them allowing switch to based on retirement in the circumstances that you have outlined.

So do you have a 12 month extension with a multi reentry permit OR a multi entry non O visa

Good idea. Assuming you are 50+ suggest as plan B to exit Thailand without reentry permit prior to current permission of stay and reenter visa exempt. Currently provides 60 day stamp. Then apply for non O based on retirement. Season the funds and obtain 12 month extension.

Out of interest...what does the 12 month insurance policy cost. I realize it varies by age etc

That is not the case at all. There is no limit to visa exempt entries via air. Does that mean someone can live in Thailand by using back to back continuous visa exempt entries. Answer No. You like a few others are not understanding what has changed here. The "2 land border entries per calendar year rule" has been removed. That's it. Living ongoing in Thailand on visa exempt entries will not work.

Your non O would be killed off and you could apply for non O based on retirement at local immigration office using TM87. Subsequently you could apply for 12 months extension. What does Cambodia have to do with anything. With no limit on visa exempt land border entries means little for continuous living in Thailand. Read the entire thread to try and understand what it's discussing. BTW you would not be "changing back to extensions" You would need to apply for new non O visa and subsequent 12 month extension

It's incorrect terminology. Most of the time the meaning is obvious and does not require clarification. Hence just answer without nit picking. Next time you are in an immigration office such as CW .....where there is large sign at the L desks.."VISA EXTENSION" explain to the io that the sign is incorrect 😤

Read @Rob Browder post above. Seems you had a ME non O ? You have done zero visa exempt entries this calendar year. What is your visa run company on about. BTW: Another option is mini holiday to eg CM_Saigon and reenter Thailand visa exempt via air (CNX) for 60 day stamp.

Yes funds as you outlined for 12 month extension Note: you are not compelled to obtain the 12 month extension. Rather you could do a border bounce and receive 60 day visa exempt entry. Thinking since you want stay of up to 7 months over conservative years that a non O + 12 month extension + second 12 month extension would be a good option. You would require a reentry permit along with the extension.

OP, as pointed out in first reply.. your Thai wife can live anywhere not necessarily her Thai house book. The parents need to make a TM30. For the 12 month extension you require the funds in bank for 2 months seasoning. Assume that you have a Thai bank account in your name only.

Not exactly clear what service the agent has provided. If in fact he has covered the financial requirements then you may need to start over with a new non O. You state ..."My visa expires in Feb 2025.' Just be clear you have a permission of stay. Valid till Feb 2025 not a visa.
