Proof of accomodation needed?
DrJack54 replied to Jack1988's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Doubt it. In any event "Nana hotel Soi 4 Sukhumvit" works -
Know a few. Udon Thani bar area. Most married or 50+ as a result they have alternative to using visa exempt entries. Did you even read the thread I posted link to. In particular have a read of the OP and @BritTim post. My own personal experience was 10+ years ago when I traveled a LOT. In particular trips to Saigon. In those days triple entry tourist visa was available. Similar to today's METV. So eventually the io at Saigon consulate said to me..... "You live in Thailand and 50+ get a retirement visa"

Just backing up your post. I was surprised that first time I did the report via mail that in my return envelope was a new TM47 form along with my receipt. Obviously not as slick as online but certainly more reliable.
-
I suggest you try 90 report via mail. It's pretty much fool proof for CW. I also at different times had frustration with online reporting. Via mail is simple process for ongoing reporting.
-
As usual you picked out last short sentence from my post. More and more immigration are checking folk using visa exempt for ongoing living in Thailand. For roster on/off this can become an issue if Immigration notice a previous non O marriage or fact you are over 50 and have options other than continuous visa exempt entries.

Visa exempt to Non-O, "in Chiang Mai"
DrJack54 replied to Captain Monday's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
If funds have been in Thailand "for some" then proof came from abroad (non o retirement) then proof from abroad not requured. The "some time" could be several months. -
Visa exempt to Non-O, "in Chiang Mai"
DrJack54 replied to Captain Monday's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Folk should always check with their immigration office. As stated earlier for the Non O obtained in Thailand, the funds only need to be in bank on day of application Sadly there is always an office or 2 playing games. Jomtien was requiring 2 months seasoning of funds for the Non O application from visa exempt entry. Which is nonsense. You might find this thread helpful. It has some useful links posted by @Red Phoenix Also note CM requires 21 days remaining on permission of stay to apply for the Non O. If time becomes an issue you can obtain 30 day extension to visa exempt 30 day stamp https://aseannow.com/topic/1297092-non-o-visa-retirement-purpose/ -

OP, you have correct answer from @bigt3116 If your plan is to subsequently obtain a 12 month extension....this attached thread outlines the steps. In that thread BritTim suggests option of obtaining non O in your own country. Doing it in Thailand is also a good plan. https://aseannow.com/topic/1311886-visa-exempt-to-retirement-extension-process-and-cost/ -
what visa do I need?
DrJack54 replied to billybog's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Don't wish to sidetrack the thread however your first link regards well know agent here in Bangkok..... Nothing came of that despite the headlines. Thinking OP has been given good options. He does not require an agent however they can obtain 30 day extension on his behalf. The agent in article has pick up drop off service for 30 day extension to tourist visa and visa exempt. -
what visa do I need?
DrJack54 replied to billybog's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
This question has come up previously. As I posted earlier...I would suggest a tourist visa then obtain a 30 day extension. After that either do a border run or flight out and back visa exempt. That's been suggested by few earlier in the thread. Also as @Pattaya57 suggested... nothing wrong with 2 visa exempt entries. Avoids obtaining Visa. However would requure 2 extensions at Immigration. If wants to avoid attendance at immigration an agent can do that. -

DrJack54 replied to billybog's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Your previous 3 posts are basically nonsense. The OP is looking for a stay of between 90-104 days. A non O retirement would provide 90 day stamp. No extension available apart from 12 month extension. Just because someone reaches age of 50 does not rule them out from obtaining tourist visas or visa exempt entry. Some folk have already posted good options. Your view that OP should apply for a Non O is certainly not best option. Unless I missed it he did not mention more visits of 100 days in near future. -
No. Not requested. I did try to find out for annual extension if TM30 was requured and the io gave a strange reply. I put it down to lost in translation. Bottom line is that anyone going to CW for transfer of stamps make sure to provide photocopies of your bank book pages back to start of current extension date. Damn ridiculous
-
A letter from the bank shows nothing other than you are account owner and balance on day of issue. My extension was done 5 months ago. They wanted balances in bank book back to last extension Don't understand it's not confusing. So bottom line is that for anyone transferring stamps at CW...."you need to proof of financial compliance "

So your wife needed to attend. What was required to show that you are still married. I realize you stated marriage is irrelevant as you are applying for extension based on retirement. However for the benefit of others your previous extension was based on marriage and checks are retrospective. For folk divorce mid extension...they cannot just wait till expiry extension and apply based on retirement
