There are two completely different things. 1. A Non O based on retirement 2. 12 Month extension For the Non O obtained in Thailand the funds need to be shown to come from abroad. Not required if the Non O is obtained at a consulate/embassy. For extensions the money is not required to have come from abroad.

Correct. Would it be possible for them both to obtain non O retirement in USA and after entry he applied for 12 month extension based on retirement and she applies for extension based on dependant. Vaguely recall ubonjoe posting something along those lines however perhaps I just misunderstood.

If you are planning to live ongoing in Thailand you should obtain a Non O (retirement) in the USA. Your wife can obtain a non O and piggyback on your visa as dependent. If you enter with a non O visa you should be able to open account.

You can obtain a multiple entry Non O based on marriage in the UK (eVisa) OR You can arrive in Thailand visa exempt and obtain that same visa in Savannakhet OR You could obtain a Non O marriage either in UK or in Thailand and subsequent annual extensions. The non O requires 400k in bank day of application and for annual extensions money in bank for two months prior to application. This option would require you to buy a multi reentry permit 3800baht. The ME Non O marriage I believe is 5000b. The non O obtained in Thailand is 2k and the associated 12 month extension is 1900b Assume you have a Thai bank account in your name only

Yes . The visa has an issue date and "enter before" date which is 3 months. Applying 3 months early is overkill but clearly you understand how is works.. Couple of months is fine

Yes some approved and some not. I have posted in this thread that I have made online reports 15 days prior to due date and with no reply and subsequently rejected after due date.. I went today in person 6 days after due date. Zero fine. There has never been report of fine in person during "grace period"

Exit Thailand without reentry permit killing off your current permission of stay. Reenter visa exempt and obtain Non O retirement at Thai immigration office. For the non O application you need 800k in bank on day of application. The financial requirements for annual extensions are the same as extensions for non O-A with no insurance requirements.

I'm no expert but it goes something like this. A company eg WISE has Thai banks the deal with (partner banks for transfers) Let's say they have Bangkok Bank and Kasikorn. If your bank bank in Thailand is not one of those the funds might land in Kasikorn and then be transferred to your Thai bank and the code in internal transfer. Needs to be international. No problem you go to your bank and request a "credit advice" This is a once off as it's only the 800k for the Non O that requires this. Transfer for ongoing extensions does not require funds from abroad codes.

Yep ....previously I used OFX who I found great and customer service via call back phone Sydney to Thailand was excellent. However head to head comparison against WISE the winner was always WISE

I have never experienced that. I periodically check a transfer using WISE against other options. Haven't found better option. Might also depend on the country where funds are coming from.

It's best to use a money transfer company. Never to bank to bank transfers
