  1. If you decide to obtain certificate of residence here is a link for doing that at Jomtien. Disregard the tm6 listed in first reply. https://aseannow.com/topic/1204090-apply-for-certificate-of-residence-at-jomtien/
  2. Time for trip to another country. Go live in Vietnam for few months.
  3. In your opinion. Which BTW is incorrect. From the OP... "I work exclusively for my clients in my home country." This topic has be done a 100 times. Referred to as "turn a blind eye" Note also the OP would be doing this from his condo . Not even in a "shared work place" No issues
  4. No entry requirements. The airline at departure may want to see onward flight for visa exempt travel. A print out of your return flight is good idea or screenshot on cell
  5. All of your post is correct. An alternative to the certificate of residence is letter from your embassy. However not all countries provide that service. Oz being one and thinking either US or UK also do not. (Not referring to income letter)
  6. Again silly. Many guys here are married or have gf They visit Thailand. Can be from oil gas workers to snowbirds. Also guys married to Thai however still working in their own countries.. All of which would have bank account Thailand.
  7. It's not necessary. You implied that's an option. Yes it is. However not necessary. You are overlooking all the guys that work in their own countries and visit on holidays. They don't need Thai sim card
  8. Read above. Sim card is irrelevant. Perhaps not best option for folks spending lot of time outside of Thailand
  9. No. Sim card irrelevant. If you are away from Thailand for some time I would suggest you do online transfer from your home country bank to your Thai bank account Note: Jim be aware that there is a "banking finance " forum and you can search lot of advice there.
  10. Yep. One recommendation it to keep sufficient funds in the account to cover any charges such as card fee etc Some good info in many threads. Here is one. https://aseannow.com/topic/773187-leaving-a-bank-account-open-when-going-back-to-the-home-country/
  11. What don't you understand. There are ~ 75 immigration offices in Thailand. This thread refers to couple of rogue officers refusing the legal process. The rest of the offices process the "conversion" from visa exempt to non O. One take out from your post it ... "Why the Thai government allows it to continue is anyone's guess" Talk about shoot yourself in the foot. You are endorsing that Thai gov supports it. Quite funny posts from you. Not surprised. Then complain that this should not be possible. I posted earlier the government rules on this. Specifically TM86 & 87. Please do some research.
  12. You do not need to "prove" you live in Thailand to have a bank account.
  13. Your just making stuff up. The branch will require your passport and photocopy ID page and have you sign it. That's it.
  14. This doesn't prove much...but for what it's worth... I have been here 10 years and have had zero issues. Have purchased 4 properties and used WISE to transfer online from my Oz bank to Thai bank. Better service than my AU bank. Few months back purchased a condo and withdrew 2.5mil baht cash from shopping mall branch. No problem. In Australia my bank would make me book that amount day prior to providing it. Think you are over thinking it.
  15. They just photocopy info page of your passport and have you sign it..
  16. Savannakhet would be an option. Saigon is nice but requires an appointment. Why not try a Pattaya agent such as Maneerat Soi 13/2 Realize your Bangkok but not a difficult option. Mini break
  17. Both excellent. I personally prefer Kasikorn. There are only 3 banks that do not have a 50k per transaction limit for international transfers using WISE. Both BB and K bank are on that list. Also both those banks have branches at CW if you deal with that immigration office. SCB does not. Note: in my earlier post to you, I stated that I had no problems opening account with K bank. BB wanted certificate of residence.
  18. I think you were obtaining a non O (not an extension) ? A home visit for a non O retirement visa not unusual.
  19. You should be able to open account with Kasikorn given the fact you have a non O-A visa I opened an account with Kasikorn without a certificate of residence and I am on extensions from a non O
  20. No problem. Have you done any 90 day reports?
