  1. It's not require at CW for a FD account. My reason stems back to my first ever extension (10 yr ago) and the io made me go the the bank and make small deposit into my SAVINGS a/c. Fast forward to current times. I use 2 accounts same bank. A FD with 600k+ and savings a/c with 200k+ . The "bank letter" lists both accounts on one page. 100b. I ask her to deposit 100b into savings and 1000b into FD. As for the follow up question... Kasikorn just roll over the balance. No new pp.
  2. The OP is already in Thailand. Open bank account is first step. To open a bank account he requires a certificate of residence or letter from his embassy. However he cannot obtain a certificate of residence at CW immigration as had not done a TM47. He can use an agent to open a bank account.
  3. Do not need a visa. Google "eTA Canada" and the requirements for eTA are shown
  4. Assume that the 12 year old Argentinian son will need a pp from that country. How long does he plan to visit.
  5. OP, it's not about lease. Ignore the posts re various suggestions to open bank account. If opening a bank account in Bangkok you need a "certificate of residence" There is a catch 22.... To obtain a certificate of residence you need to have made a 90 day report (TM47) which is not possible on a tourist visa or visa exempt entry. Surprised Siam Legal stopped that service. You could try @ThaiVisaCentre and ask them. Other provinces do not have the TM47 requirement.
  6. Say what. Name of agent. TikTok in Pattaya charge 1500 just for certificate of residence.
  7. I deal with CW. The bank "letter" is basically just to prove you are the owner of the account and it's active. I have a FD account. I do not provide bank statement. CW immigration is ok with photocopies of the bank book. I make a 1000b (minimum allowable) deposit on day of application. Kasikorn bank.
  8. Misleading at best. So what "many forms and extensions" have you signed in front of io for extension and you pull out your BLACK pen as you prefer to use your own perfect pen. Ridiculous.
  9. That would be for hand holding. Certainly not obtaining certificate of residence and medical certificate. So basically hand holding.
  10. Don't understand why you don't understand. With most FD accounts you can withdraw funds and the result is loss of interest. Some folk don't use FD account as interests rates are historical low. Not just Thailand. Yes you might be 10k better off over a savings account per annum for eg 800k+ baht balance. Some folk obviously prefer the flexibility. Also other considerations won't go into this thread. Check out "banking finance" forum.
  11. The OP stated "Bangkok Area" . Chatuchak DLT is on BTS (Mo chit) and also MRT Chatuchak. He also stated there appointments online booked out. I outlined process earlier for Chatuchak DLT.. And yes walk in for making a booking is an option. The e-learning Q code not required. Also For the booking appointment I was in and out in 30 mins. The next day the actual license in and out one hour. I parked directly opposite Building 4 both days. Pretty simple.
  12. Don't follow. Many folk use a Fixed Deposit Account. It's acceptable. The only rider on that the funds need to be immediately available and no charges for withdrawal other than loss of interest.
  13. The OP stated this..... "Want to renew my driving license from the 2 year to 5 year one" When I made my appointment there was a laminated sheet which have various copies of things required. One was the DLT e-Learning I specifically asked the fella doing my paperwork if I needed to do this and have it for my appointment the next day. He replied NO NEED.. Perhaps it's required for first license. I was in same boat as the OP. Had a 2 yr TDL and renewing to 5 yr
  14. How did you return to Thailand. Meaning did you reenter with new visa or visa exempt entry then you need to make a new TM30. If you returned with reentry permit then new TM30 not required.
  15. Why not obtain 60 day extension to visit Thai wife. 1900baht
  16. Not my experience yesterday at Chatuchak. The QR code saves nothing. The process at that Transport office still has you sit through shortish video where the steps in the physical process is outlined. You cannot "skip" that.
  17. Indeed. Also as most are aware ...your new 5 yr license expiry is 5 years from your NEXT birthday. In my case that meant 5years and 9 months.
  18. It's not clear as immigration offices vary. Here is a thread from Webfact and includes in the OP a link to a detailed explanation of the rules. Hopefully someone that deals with KK using income method will be along. Here is link to order. https://aseannow.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=561475 But again you will need specific info from KK. Some offices most likely accept the 12 month bank statement showing monthly transfers.
  19. I did my renewal TDL on Wednesday of this week at Chatuchak transport office. Enter the building immediately turn right an past those doors press ticket machine select foreigner. You are seen very quickly. Note this visit is just to make the appointment. I was offered various time for the next day and selected 9am the following day. To make appointment you need the following. 1. Thai drivers license (mine was expired 3 moths previous. That is no problem. 2. Certificate of residency 3. Medical certificate. Note there is a clinic that does this specific service at entry of land/transport complex. 150b 4. Basic copies from pp. Photo page. Most recent entry stamp. I also provided reentry permit page. Page with your visa. In my case that was first page of my current pp where the visa info. 5. Passport. Note: You do not need to do the online eLearning course that provides q code. They clip the pages together and a coloured ticket with a stamp. That's it. Simple. So the next day (yesterday) I was back again for the test. You go into same office obtain ticket (same as bank system) Short wait. They give you que number. You then follow counter instructions to where you hand over your papers where they are checked again. Then follow instructions to area where you watch short video. It's purely instructions for the "physical/eye test" Test is very basic. Colour test etc After that back to where instructed to have pic and actual TDL card. 505baht.(Lady would not accept tip) Zero need for an agent. You still need two trips.
  20. Why make easy difficult. Since you live in Udon Thani a quick trip to Nong Khai step into Loas and back to obtain visa exempt entry. Since you qualify for marriage and retirement just choose option that suits you. 800/400k on day of application for the non O and in last 30 days of that 90 day stamp obtain your 12 month extension
  21. Personally I would do this during the "minimum 400k period" Transfer 400k to the new FD account and next day the other 400k+ Many will see this as not being necessary (over cautious) Immigration are very quirky about money in bank method.
  22. The OP question was specific. He is asking about the airline at departure with a tourist visa. States earlier that he has done that before (obtained tv) .... He stated this ( the underline is done by OP) "My concern now is how the airline will handle me at check-in when departing from Europe in August. With a TR visa =60 days but my return flight booked 75 days after arrival in Thailand, will the airline make a problem?" Answer: the airline will not ask to see onward flight. obtaining SETV is another matter.
  23. Ha. I kid you not .... today went alone via car to Land Transport office and found it clumbsy to look to my Google maps directions with Assistant voice..it was sitting on passenger seat. Just now asked gf to look for a phone holder for car dash tomorrow. The OP is making simple difficult.
  24. No. There is no ATM airside. What money do you have on you. It does not have to be in baht. Any equivalent currency is fine.
