  1. Why not do a border bounce. More bullet proof. Not saying flight out and return visa exempt would not work but thinking not best option. If doing flight out and back option then spending some time out would be good idea . When does your permit expire asking since visa exempt entry goes to 45 days from Oct 1.
  2. You are referring to 12 month extension and seems not your first as you mention previously they did not require TM30. Was this asked at doc check or by the io at L desk? With regards one year bank statement...are you using income method or money in the bank method. If income method, a 12 month bank statement would be normal. You mention Wife. You could obtain a 60 day extension to visit wife to give you more time. Applying few days after permit expires should not a problem. You would pay whatever overstay. Best to avoid that. As I mentioned extension to visit wife an option. You are aware that you can apply for extension at CW 45 days prior to expiry. Remember for next time.
  3. If I had to criticize one part of the whole hospital experience it would be lack of detailed instructions regarding rehab. Meaning guidelines of "do,s and do nots" Clearly I overdid it but at the same time was feeling fine and didn't feel I was pushing too hard. Previously was doing 5 repeats of a hallway walk and that amounted to 250m Did that 10+ times per day. Now I'm doing 2 reps which is 100m a few times a day. Back to square 2.
  4. Your first entry via air visa exempt gives you 45 + extension+ border bounce visa exempt is another 45 + extension. Equal 5 months and only one border bounce. Leaves you with option for longer stay if required.
  5. Non O-A...? Is that just to avoid the money in Thai bank requirements. What is the cost of the insurance policy that presumably would not cover your pre existing health issues. Entering Oct 25 visa exempt would give 45 day stamp. Enough time to obtain non O retirement at immigration and 12 month extension. No insurance for either.
  6. The OP, had the option of using money in the bank method. (not difficult) Sadly he received incorrect information re his options.
  7. However they do not have a branch at CW. Good reason to choose another bank if you deal with CW.
  8. That won't work. You do realize that the funds only need to be in bank for limited time. I assume you are not married. You could buy more time with a border bounce and organize funds in the bank. How long do you plan to stay in Thailand? Are you over 50? If so you could use agent for non O retirement and subsequent extension.
  9. Bangkok Bank has branch downstairs however they not long ago had issues and temporarily closed branch. I assume they are back up and running now. SCB for some reason does not have a branch at CW.
  10. The winner in there is 6 months or so Outside of Thailand. You also state this ..... "I really need to switch to the marriage visa as I'm basically married besides by law" If you are legally married to a Thai your best option would be non O with annual extensions and reentry permit. You would be aware that you only require 400k in bank for 2 months (+under consideration period) then you can spend it. Pretty sweet deal imo.
  11. There was a bit of carry on with DMK and to lesser extent at BKK airports prior to covid. Most of the problems were folk short stay out of Thailand and flight back visa exempt.. Your history is different and also you have a visa. Zero problems.
  12. You have a visa. Zero issues. Even if entering visa exempt you would not have an issue with your history.
  13. OP, as pointed out. Unless your friends are to have dealings with immigration such as obtaining an extension, do nothing
  14. As already pointed out...with visa exempt going to 45 days on Oct 1. Enter visa exempt via air followed by border bounce for second visa exempt entry and one 30 day extension. Equals 4 months. Check the threads regarding options for onward flight for your first entry.
  15. TM86 if changing from tourist visa to non O. TM87 if from visa exempt (check that) someone will confirm. The 12 month extension is TM7
  16. From Oct 1 the visa exempt is 45 days and yes good option instead of TV. You require 800k in bank on day of application for non O. When you apply you require 15+ days remaining on your permission of stay. That gives a 90 day stamp. In last 30 days apply for 12 month extension. You need a TM7 for the extension. Cost 1900baht.
  17. OP here, Just to wrap this thread up... So despite confirmation via live online chat that my return flight was alive and usuable, one could imagine I was apprehensive as I had previously received opposite advice from Jetstar "online chat". Having to book car hire etc in my mind was bit of a gamble. In any event I just got off phone from Jetstar Bangkok office and they confirmed the flight was alive and usuable. She touched on the fact that they use "different system". Perhaps point to point (think she said something like that). Bottom line is the flight is a go. Handy as I already had a stand alone flight for Melb back to Bangkok. Bottom line: check with your airline. Thanks for all the help and input.
  18. Hopefully can add a question here re CW. Going to need to drive car to CW for extension. Do you just drive around looking for a car park or..... Any suggestions welcome.
  19. I find your post vague. Seems that you don't even need the licence for driving in Thailand. You would need to obtain 2 yr license first up. I would describe it as not simple. Things have change and you require residence certificate. In some places such as Bangkok that's difficult on TV. The 5 year license comes after the 2 yr one. There is a forum on AseanNow dedicated to this topic. Check it out.
  20. It does add one extra report per year, but as you would know, the online fill in reports takes seconds with the auto fill. Have no idea why you would need to update your password. I use Android cell and for reports works a charm. I'm a convert after using mail option as previous online system was a no go for me. Seems it's one IT thing they finally got right.
  21. Glad your recovery is going ok. I don't know how much of it was over exercise or fact that due to previous DVT and PE my blood situation may have been big contributor. Fact is they say listen to your body, which is all great but I felt great. Walking 3km a day up and down the corridors of my condo. I did start to push it as my flight to Oz coming up. I have another trip coming up Nov 17 and I'm taking it very easy. Doing only one lap (50m) a few times a day. Gone from walking in room unassisted (half of the time) to now needing stick for few steps to fridge. Sad look. I also lost most of feeling in buttock and privates which is bit of a mind game, apparently will slowly back to normal. This was all from the bleeding in leg. That pain was off the scale. Oh I also have a small hairline fracture from over exercise. Not being negative but yes .. Slow and steady wins the race. Best of luck.
  22. In hindsight would have been best to do it when you went for new extension. Years back when I renewed my pp, I traveled for months with both pp,s before attending CW to have info transfered to new pp.
  23. It's very helpful and a damn shame that these hurdles were put in place. Ridiculous requirements.
