COVID extension requirements
DrJack54 replied to sussex's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
No. If it's 2 days she will pay 1000baht. Under 24 hrs most likely no fine. For slightly longer overstay she could apply for extension and upon being rejected be given 7 days to leave Thailand. Not fine, no overstay but cost of extension application 1900baht. -
COVID extension requirements
DrJack54 replied to sussex's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
She has to apply for the standard 30 day extension prior to any application for covid extension Given current covid situation and the fact that emergency decree was extended it's not inconceivable that covid extensions will be made available past July 25. Watch for any announcement near July 25. -
Indeed that was my understanding. Has been pointed out earlier in the thread that the proof of monthly transfers was not required for previous 12 months. So you can obtain an extension based on income method.....then make zero transfers into your account and switch to money in bank method for your next extension. Strange.

The mistake some folk make is to not have a dedicated bank account for immigration purposes. If using account for various transactions the bank can "consolidate" some and in turn the io may demand bank statements. I use money in bank method for extensions retirement at CW and only provide photocopies of bankbook pages. No statements required.

Think rules were changed regarding BTS top ups. Last time I tried at Asoke BTS they wanted my passport.

Enter with visa onward flight not required Re docs for Bank... Depends on the bank. You have a non O so that's one hurdle ticked. A lease may be enough for some banks. Some may require a residence certificate. What location are you planning to open account. . Stick to one of the 3 or 4 banks that allow largish transfers using Wise. Personally I had success with Kasikorn with a non O. They are on list for transfers from Wise. Regarding your process... With the non O retirement you will be stamped in for 90 days. You need to transfer 800k to the account you intend to open. When the funds have been in bank for 2 months apply for 12 month extension based on retirement. It's not a visa. Be aware of ongoing requirements to maintain funds in bank

You have completely taken my post out of context. (nothing unusual) The "Why" was referring to why does the OP need to fill out the TM30. Read the op carefully. He travels to Thailand on tourist visas. I suggested he approach his hotel to make the TM30 as they should. In fact think in a later post he actually did this and the hotel filled it in and no doubt supplied the other required photocopies.

Think best combo for the 6 month stay is... Obtain a tourist visa for first entry via air. Then obtain 30 day extension. That gives you ~90 days. Then do a border bounce with visa exempt entry plus 30 day extension. Repeat the border bounce with extention. All up ~7 months. A variation is to instead of the first border bounce obtain another tourist visa. Places such as Vientiane or even Saigon (for side holiday) good options.

You would only go to Saigon if you wanted a SETV. Border bounce ...just go to border and exit reenter visa exempt. You will be stamped in for 30 days with visa exempt entry and can extend by 30. As for covid extension ignore CM immigration....just another office with big boy pants. Use an agent. 5-6k including application fee. Announcement re Covid extensions should be close to July 25

No such thing as defacto in Thailand re legal entitlement. Personally I have same Thai partner for 10 years and she would not have any right to the funds I keep in bank for extensions. Just another PITA associated with living in this wonderful country. Another option not mentioned so far is to use agent to avoid funds in bank. Edit: sorry Andrew missed point of your post. I have approached my banks about my partner (not wife) being silent on my account. I got the "you need marry"
