That goes without saying. I'm not about to include a qualifying statement on every post. The VISA EXEMPTION RULE allows tourists from 64 countries1 to enter Thailand without a visa. They are granted to stay a maximum of 30 days if they are entering Thailand via an international airport or entering through a land border checkpoint from neighboring countries.

The 180 day gig was short lived critter. I never took much notice tbh. The visa exempt limit was in place prior to covid and can't see that won't continue when land borders open. So yes 2 per calendar year land border entries. The "calendar year" is important as it's easy to time in such a way as exempt entry with extension wash and repeat can give 4 months. Time that correctly and your into the next calendar year. Wash and repeat again

As ubonjoe pointed out above. Lot depends on where you live. In my case Bangkok. Easy 30 baht trip to DMK. On arrival Saigon airport jump on yellow bus 109 to Bui Vien district 1. When their you won't need any tour guide. Ripper place. A bonus is the very efficient helpful Thai consulate. Very short bike trip from Bui Vien. I've been to Laos couple of times which is ok as long as you take some "no-doze tablets" BTW where do travel from to go to Savannakhet.

Is it still possible to do Covid visa?
DrJack54 replied to drronnie's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
He should exit Thailand and reenter with a tourist visa or simply return to home country. Or finally, choose another place to travel to. -
How many visa entries can you make in a given period eg year. There is no rule with a limit. I call that vague. Just one example. Why did Thai government extend the issue of covid extensions from Jan 25. Where there no flights out and as a result extended their issue. Love the "d word" so overused on AseanNow now but has a nice ring to it..

With land borders currently closed it's difficult for many to obtain a visa as in some cases such as a TV it requires you to exit Thailand. "Abusing the system" is not clearly defined. That's down to Thai rules being vague There is not limit on visa exempt entries via Air. They could easily have in place a limit as they have with visa exempt land border visa exempt entries. Won't continue the vague requirements that the Thai have in place.

I agree with you. I avoid fb posts and think they belong in Facebook. I didn't read one refusal of entry first hand in that copy paste. Having said that ....too much time in Thailand has always been a dance. I recommend anyone doing an exit and reentry to obtain tourist visa. Yes they can also be refused upon reentry but unlikely.

New 90 Days Reporting Not Working.
DrJack54 replied to Charlie's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Assume that your using new system. -
30 day visa exempt entry can be extended by 30 days once per entry. Entering. Thailand July with 30+30 would take you through till sometime in Sept. Good chance by then that some land borders open. If required to extend stay then exit via land border and reenter.

90-day reporting period?
DrJack54 replied to Ombra's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
15 days prior counting due date and 7 post including due date for 90 day reports in person.. Online 15 prior up till due date. -
Almost a certainty he will be required to obtain standard 30 day extension first. OP, he will obtain the 30 day extension giving permission of stay till approx April. Unless the covid extensions are extended (due to end March 25) he will not be able to obtain CE.

He could obtain a tourist visa. With a 30 day extension that gives him 3 months. If he has all his ducks in a row he could marry then obtain a non O marriage followed by extension. He should look at exactly what is required for marriage in Thailand. He should also obtain bank account in his name only. He could obtain a METV however would need to exit Thailand after 3 months and reenter. That depends on borders and requirements at that time. Edit: did not see his age. He can enter visa exempt and obtain non O retirement followed by extension. Later he can change to extentions based on marriage. This is his best option.

new at hat yai imm 1 year extension
DrJack54 replied to bedbugy's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Sounds standard requirements. Apart from upload docs. Never heard of that. Is appointment compulsory at Hat Yai. If not just provide required documents on day of application. Don't understand the difficulty. You could always change to extension based on retirement (if over 50). Very little paperwork.
