Thai health minister backs cannabis ban, citing surge in teen usage
JBChiangRai replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Actually, Elon doesn't smoke weed. He did once on a podcast in 2018 but for the following year passed random drug tests at Space X. He's also on record as saying Weed is not good for productivity. -
I think the issue is going to be where the incoming transfer of funds came from. Is it a country where it's likely no tax was paid? if it is the tax people here may want their pound of flesh. There is no way they are going to be happy with a Digital Nomad working here, billing his work from a tax haven tax free and then transferring that money into Thailand. Currently, you can be tax resident here and transfer that money for last year on 1st January this year and no tax is payable. I am fairly sure this is the loophole they want to close.

Cannabis Network Gives Health Minister A Warning
JBChiangRai replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
If you had read my posts you would have known that I am not against cannabis for recreational use (with certain safeguards on age and restrictions on operating a motor vehicle), so you can hardly say I believe "drugs bad". -
Cannabis Network Gives Health Minister A Warning

Oh, you were there at the court hearings when I was a magistrate were you? How remiss of me not to notice you. You probably noticed the expert medical assessments we sought before sentencing too as you noticed those lawyers. Are you a Q-Anon conspiracist? You don't seem to like facts and figures from scientific and organised research much preferring and trusting your own conspiracy theories. Of course, you know better than law enforcement and the medical profession concerning drug driving, I should have realised that. I suggest we immediately discard all the scientific research on cannabis and driving under the influence and instead trust Bday Prang to tell us reality and set the law. You have sunk to the bottom from your original well thought out, although highly biased piece. Perhaps you were stoned when you wrote this? -

I take your point, but everything done by the EU & especially the UK will affect which EV's are available in Thailand. Nobody is going to make all their vehicles available in RHD just for Thailand. -
Yes it would. Some people confuse the second stage with flu and assume the spots are a rash, too late by the time it gets to the tertiary phase.
-
Syphilis is often missed during it's first stage, the chancre may or may not be visible. Lyme disease is from the same family of bacteria (spirochetes).
-
Yes, very good value, though I would go for the i3 7th Gen as it's the one with 4K graphics support for replaying movies (6th Gen will max out the CPU and stutter).
-
PrEP encourages the disuse of condoms, so it's only natural syphilis and other VD's would increase. If you catch it earlier, Syphilis is fairly easy to eradicate, albeit a bit painful with thick oily penicillin injections into your butt every week for 3 weeks.

I am not a fan of instantaneous water heater for showers. We always fit stored water heaters typically 55 to 150 liters. I had a condo in Pattaya with them, when I sold it, the buyer phoned me a few months later and said he got a tingle when showering if the lights in the TV room were on. It never happened to me because the lights were never on in my TV room when I was showering. I suggested 2 possible solutions first, and my recommended solution, get it checked out by a sparky and second, don't shower with the TV lights on.

Thailand’s new PM holds talks with Tesla chief Musk

Musk has stated he has ceased production of RHD Model S & X for the current time. -
The other advantage with PrEP is the Tenofavir will help provide protection against Hepatitis B. Hep B usually only last a few weeks but some people it's a chronic illness and then Tenofavir is the first line regimen. Worth having a full STD screen every 6 months which I do.

Remove from freezer and hold under running tap for 10-15 seconds, you can then remove the skin and fry, or better still, air fry whilst frozen, but not too hot or the outside burns and the inside remains uncooked.

Cannabis Network Gives Health Minister A Warning
JBChiangRai replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Sort my concerns out was not aimed at you, it was aimed at the Thai government. The whole delisting of it as a narcotic by Anutin who at the same time says recreational use is illegal, and the press release saying anything over 0.2% THC is illegal (re infographic I posted earlier) just demonstrates what a complete and utter mess they made of the whole process. We are agreed on addiction (though probably differ on the percentage), agreed on mental illness, it's not a great leap to realise that mental illness can lead to violent behaviour and the violent behaviour I am talking about typically comes from those with mental illness and the statistics link that to CUD & psychoses. Those without Mental illness as you say are too chilled to care. I would agree on raising the age for alcohol consumption if it affects the developing brain, I don't know if it does, I would have to research it. I am not in favour of raising that age purely to keep it inline with Cannabis just for the sake of it. -

I didn't know that. However, looking at the date, it came into effect in 1988. I was 31 which was a key milestone in my career as it was when I started my first business and this event took place prior to that. Maybe it wasn't illegal then. -

JBChiangRai replied to Bandersnatch's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Subsidising and unfair competition. I am reminded of a friend of mine in the UK who had a business manufacturing the tins to hold paint. He had a competitor he wanted out the market and so he sold his product at or below cost until his competitor went bust. It's not illegal, it was simply a commercial tactic. The strongest and fittest survive. Maybe it's subsidies that make Chinese EV's cheap, maybe it's a lower labour cost and access to precious metals, maybe it's both. Without cheaper, more polished Chinese EV's, where are we? Having to buy old-fashioned cars from the old dinosaurs? Look at Toyota, they would even be making an EV if it weren't for Chinese competition. I am not saying subsidies are right, only that the approach to that has to be better than the consumer being forced to pay more. I only bought my eldest daughter the MG EP+ because of the subsidy here, should that be stopped too because it's unfair on Toyota selling their Corolla Altis? -

There could well be subsidies on Chinese EV's. I do know in other sectors the CCP will give an incentive to Chinese companies in the form of a kick-back that is a percentage of overseas sales in US dollars. I don't know if this applies to EV's and whilst I agree it is difficult for local companies to compete, I do think it is good for the consumer. I would be less than happy if the Thai Government told me I must pay a 20% tariff on my Chinese EV's because local manufacturers can't compete. If I still lived in the UK and the government did that, they would lose my vote in the next election. If it means that my new Chinese EV is sponsored by the CCP then more fool them and thank you very much Winnie the Pooh. This whole process of sourcing from the most cost effective country is called Globalisation, applying Tariff's to prevent this is called Protectionism. -

You constantly ignore the reasons informed & involved organisations want it banned and promote a one-sided view of how it makes you happy. Law enforcement want it banned because drug driving has now overtaken drunk driving, in the UK since 2021 it is up 50% year on year for 6 consecutive years peaking in 2021. Using THC is incompatible with driving a car or motorbike, do you do either of these? The accidents take peoples lives and families are destroyed. Whilst legalisation removes possession offences, it increases violent crime https://www.driving.co.uk/news/crime/drug-driving-arrests-up-50-continuing-six-year-trend/ A Review of Cases of Marijuana and Violence - PMC (nih.gov) Health Practitioners want it banned mostly because of mental health issues and addiction. Health Effects of Marijuana | Health Effects | Marijuana | CDC Whilst I agree with you that it is wrong to ban research into the health benefits of any compound whether banned or not. I have two issues with legalising cannabis in Thailand. The first is controlling access to the younger with developing brains. The damage that occurs with cannabis on developing brains is well documented and indisputable. It is also well documented and indisputable that male brains continue developing to the age of 26 and female brains to the age of 24, yet the law here only prevents access to THC to the age of 20, this is wrong. The second is Thailand's legal system is not ready regarding drug driving, the law has not been set with limits of blood THC concentration, the police have not been issued with drug wipe kits. If Thailand were to follow the same limits as the UK, then THC use is incompatible with driving any vehicle within 48 hours of use. This means regular users of Cannabis cannot hold driving licences. If Thailand can address these issues, then I have no problem with weed shops selling for recreational use, but I would like to see warnings given at point of sale to new users, just as pharmacists will ask you and educate you on prescription of a new drug. I am not obsessed with this as you suggested in another post. I only post corrections when incorrect statements are made like it being safe, not cause violence, not cause mental health issues and is non-addictive. I have been at the sharp end and witnessed all these things first hand. We can't say THC is ok because it's not addictive, doesn't cause violence, and doesn't lead to mental health issues because all these things are well documented and indisputable. Sort my concerns out and I have no issue with recreational use, but don't post & gaslight that THC addiction, mental illness and attendant violence don't exist, -

It depends where you live and when you drive. On the coast and cooler places like Chiang Rai, it's perfect for early mornings, evening and the cool season where 26C is typical. I hope that is the case, because it means you get more car for your money. -

Thailand’s new PM holds talks with Tesla chief Musk

Musk consistently makes decisions on emotions. He got a bloody nose over his submarine fiasco, he won't want to do much here.
