  1. Polluting the air others breathe should not be allowed for personal reasons. It is unhealthy for others and dangerous. Delivery of foods and supplies to retail stores is necessary. People whose job is to deliver food and supplies should be allowed only if someone cannot walk or bicycle to the nearest grocery store or restaurant. No more, "I want my "freedom" claims, or it is so "convenient" claims for burning fuel. Possibly allow people to rent an ICE car or motorcycle once a year to take a 2 week vacation if they cannot find a bus or van to take them where they need to go. Same with air travel. Change is good, laziness is bad How many likes will I get? 55555
  2. All debates and interviews should be immediately fact checked by ChatGBT. Networks should all have a 3 second delay, then if the ChatGBT says it is a false statement, that statement is muted when aired 3 seconds later. For pete's sake, we have the technology ,use it in real time so listeners do not have to wait and go to a fact checking site later (which many will not do) Also this will not give followers any more claims, saying they "heard" it from their prophet so it must be true. Simple solution IMO
  3. At 65 years I take zinc (15mg) and magnesium/calcium (250/65mg) for prostate and health in general. Tried the Saw palmetto and it did not work for me, so went with taking simple minerals. Relieved my need to get up and pee at night for the most part Swimming and walking daily helps with any condition as well. Keep moving!
  4. Not "up front" but when you receive the food or drink, that is when you pay. True, at a restaurant you do not pay until finished and leaving. Am just relating how bars could avoid customers who have no money or make mistakes with knowing how much money they have on them. Ringing a bell will cost 1000 baht + in most bars, Simple policy would be to hand the cashier 1000+ baht, THEN you can ring the bell. Seems logical to me, yet am not a bar owner and never been a bar owner. Believe from what someone told me, many of the driver delivery apps online...Lineman, Food Panda, Grab, Hungry now you must pay through the app before it is made and delivered so driver does not deal with cash
  5. #1 rule in life, "Don't sweat the small stuff"
  6. Pay as you go is the rule at every bar in other countries. Thailand bars should learn this simple rule. You buy food from street vendor, you pay before you get the food. You buy fruit shake at a street vendor you pay before you get the drink. How hard is it to collect the money when it is actually spent? So strange to me.
  7. Americans have been arguing over the 2nd amendment for years, Simple fix to mass shootings is to treat bullets like antibiotics. You want protection using a gun, OK, you get 6-8 bullets per family, not per gun or not per person, End of argument on gun control. Same with families who shoot deer or elk for food.
  8. Really. He can speak on Facebook or Instagram anytime he likes. He can get a job at another news platform likely.
  9. City needs a moratorium and buy back program for taxis and Songtheaws. Over 600 baht buses (songthaews) is just ridiculous. Simple rules need to be in place as too many taxis parking wherever they please. No meters of course, which is illegal. Those with meters never use them or claim they are broken. A reasonable number and locations needs to be implemented. Motorcycle taxi numbers are ridiculous as well. Seems any guy with a motorcycle and 200 baht to buy an orange vest can set up his "business" anywhere he pleases
  10. RIP, he helped many of us on here with his Visa and Immigration knowledge
  11. Not aware of any health insurance that would include pre-existing conditions. Yet I still have health insurance here in Thailand. I am 65 with pre-existing cardiovascular conditions, and have had insurance for 5 years here to cover accidents, cancer, and all the things that are not related to my pre-existing conditions. "Life is not fair, get used to it" Likely why many expats claim they "self-insure" here, meaning keep a couple million baht handy in case you need some major medical care. Good luck, be well, and keep in touch!
  12. I have done 5 one year extensions. Never had my Kasikorn Bank account frozen. Never heard of this from anyone who does the annual Non-Imm O Visa extension
  13. I pay all utilities through the BKK banking app and pay for many other things as well. Keeps it simple and receipt automatically saved on your mobile. Seems these days no one under 40 even carries cash. I see farangs buying 70 baht cigarettes at 7-11 with their mobiles. Saw I guy on here that wanted to pay his short time lady friend with Crypto. 5555
  14. Interesting. Have not seen my deposit be as late as the 4th. always 1st-3rd as I recall. You should always have 50-100K in the bank as backup in case of hospitalization (insurance takes time to repay) or if you needs to purchase an emergency flight home, etc... Also your 800K deposit can be used if you are 4 months away from renewal of your one year Visa Extension
  15. More grifting money for the police ....or will they use it to finish the stadium? Will they use the money for finally build the Bali Hai pier project after the 100's of millions of baht from taxpayers has not been enough to even start the project. Money comes and money vanishes. Likely tables and all will be sold for profits as well
  16. Anyone drinking at 4am with $5500 USD in his pocket is asking for trouble. Ever heard of a Bank or Hotel safe?
  17. Science has not changed. there are only 2 genders biologically.
  18. Everyone has a unique story do they not? Interesting is objective, yet there is always pleasure involved with human contact and conversation if you have simple expectations. I do not want to hear about politics, war in Ukraine, inflation, bit coin, gun violence, or the current price of the dollar or euro. Thai people live a simple life for the most part and I find their conversations interesting many times...obviously only if they speak enough English so I can understand, which of course is not always the case. Think retirees who give up on having contact and conversation with others are simply giving up on one of the most pleasurable things in life.
  19. The massage ladies have to stay with you for an hour and perform massage...they are a captive audience. Bar girls will leave quickly if a younger man with baht to spend comes in 5555
  20. Being over 60 and retired in Pattaya, weekends are the time I go out the least as so much traffic and crowds from Bangkok people visiting here. I go out walking daily and swim at my condo daily. Just walk, take baht buses, never drive. One of the ways I keep active, which is necessary for anyone over 60...or younger IMO Also, of course I need groceries and prepared meals. I also walk or take baht bus or a combination to get those. Most evening meals I walk to a nearby cafe and eat there or take home. Even during the pandemic I never used a delivery service. Logically, food delivery should only be for those who work at home or work so hard they have no time to go get or prepare their meals. Does not seem to work that way, food delivery is another sad trend for the lazy it seems. I am retired, so no need to have items delivered as I have plenty of time to get myself. I prefer to converse with Thai massage ladies, other Thai ladies I know who run coffee shops or cafes. Bar conversations can also be interesting if the guys are newbies and have that "kid in the candy store" look in their eyes. The diversity of foreigners I have met is amazing to me, and many I have had 3-15 minute conversations with. Most just want to know what it is like to live here as they are here on short holiday stays. It is all about getting outside and looking around, smiling at people, laughing with Thai people, living life each day to the best of your ability.
  21. Cannot vote unless you are a Thai national or citizen. BTW Many government officials tend to be/become self-serving. In a democracy that should be enough for impeachment or removal from office. Of course that never happens. Why?
  22. I had a younger 30's middle eastern or Indian man grab me quite forcefully on my upper right arm so his friend could douse me as I was walking home with some groceries. I was already soaking wet and only a few blocks from my condo at the time. This is late afternoon and though a bit shocked, just assumed the guys were a bit drunk and felt obligated to soak an already soaked 65 year old man trying to sneak behind them on the sidewalk. No worries, took another dowsing to their delight and the guy released his grip and I walked on.
  23. No agenda, it is science and has to do with your body and its ability to cool itself. Feels like temperature factors in the humidity...here is an explanation from the web. "If the sweat on our skin is not able to evaporate, then it becomes more difficult for our body to cool itself. So, if your body can't cool like it normally would through sweating, a relatively cooler temperature will have the same effect on the body as if the temperature were actually hotter".
  24. Am joking here, so please do not suspend me mods. 5555 Any 2-wheeler with a step through frame and auto transmission is made for women. Either be a man and get a real motorcycle or scooter around town like all the other guys with a mangina. 5555
  25. I have seen people enter and purchase weed, and have entered and purchased myself many months ago. Online sellers are usually selling same for about half what you pay in retail shops, how I purchase nowadays Unlike 7-11, selling 3 or 4 grams of marijuana can likely net a profit of 1000 baht or so. You get a few customers a day and you paid the bills... yet with so many shops I do not see them all prospering. Good thing is they have taken many shops and refurbished them with new tile and wall board, and it looks better than having old dirty empty shops everywhere as was the case since the pandemic.
