Always a good label to pin on anyone who voted No. Argument ad hominem. As I have a quite dark-skinned Thai GF, you can stick your opinion where the sun doesn't shine. -

I did not vote, put in an overseas form. Yes, Wilcannia was desolate before. It did not have barred windows and reinforced doors prior to the Redfern influx. Murrum Bridge is a small township on the Lachlan River, north of Lake Cargelligo. AFAIK the population is 100% Aboriginal, and it shows. -

Missing statistic - relative kerb masses. I can't say being heavier improves handling. It probably steers like a cow on roller skates in corners. -

Being one of the first people in Australia to have solar panels on my house, I have no problem at all in accepting your data. What I was questioning is the percentage of people who take the next step from an EV to fueling said EV from solar. Your electricity is not quite free, there is the sunk cost of capital equipment to be recovered first. IIRC, in my case it was about 2.5 years. -

The technology is there, it's a matter of getting the capital for full development. The fossil fuel industry knows hydrogen is far more of a threat to it than EV's, and is responding accordingly. -

Lithium is extremely abundant, yes. When did I say it was in short supply due to scarcity of lithium ore? Not enough mines is the problem. IIRC you were posting the proposition lithium could be extracted from seawater. Good luck with getting 1 kg of lithium from 55,000 tonnes of seawater, when the average EV requires 60 kg. Now that really was silly. -

Neta V sounds like the Lightburn Zeta of many decades ago, what's the information on reliability and after-sales service? You keep using the word silly as if you have a patent on it. Attacking the poster instead of the facts is dishonest, argument ad hominem. -

Another example of begging the question, with the statement: " Many EV owners here in Thailand have solar". If you can post actual figures from an independent, authoritative source, it's an improvement. -

ICE's will be around at least until 2050, because there simply isn't enough lithium and other materials mined to meet replacement needs. Lithium output would need to be expanded tenfold. They will still be around for heavy haulage, no trucking company is going to be interested in a semi-trailer, B-double or truck which has half its payload wiped out by the weight of its battery. -

Maybe not on AN, plenty out there otherwise. How about posting some facts on price and performance? All you are doing is begging the question when you make the statement "they are priced the same", then attempt to deflect my question by going off on a tangent about place of manufacture. Let me help you out. A small Ora Good Cat has a starting price of 840,000 baht. A Nissan Micra or March is less than 500,000 baht. Now kindly stop posting complete nonsense. -

About as many times as you can tell an idiot EV's have become a religion for some owners, and virtue signalling they are saving the planet is complete BS. Priced the same? Only with government subsidies, which are as changeable as weathervanes. Show me an EV equivalent in performance and price to an ICE such as a Mitsubishi Attrage or Nissan Almera, please. -

I would really like many of the younger YES supporters to travel to places I have been, such as Murrum Bridge, Bourke and Wilcannia in NSW, or Fitzroy Crossing and Roebourne in WA. Wilcannia is a case in point. Prior to the Sydney Olympics, Aboriginals in Redfern were offered significant inducements to move there, in order to polish Sydney's image for visitors. The authorities did not realize they were mixing a number of tribes. The result is Wilcannia looks like a war zone, with reinforced doors and barred windows on every shop and house in the town. It makes a mockery of the proposition prior to white settlement, the indigenous Australians were co-existing peacefully. Alcohol made things a lot worse. It removes inhibitions to violence, and I have seen first-hand how violent they can be when their blood is up. -

I suspect for many Australians the Yes position felt like the tail was wagging the dog. A succession of governments in Australia have poured billions into Aboriginal welfare, with no discernible improvement. If the referendum had passed, no doubt more cash would have been allocated to the Voice. -

EV's make sense in terms of reducing air pollution and noise in congested cities. They also make sense in terms of running costs for owners, although the increased capital cost offsets that somewhat. Authorities and insurance companies are still grappling with how to ensure an EV battery fire does not have catastrophic consequences. As the world still relies on fossil fuels for 70% of electricity generation, EV's do not yet make sense in terms of reducing carbon dioxide emissions. That particular form of pollution is simply transferred to the power station. Ev's are highly polluting w.r.to the raw materials they are made from, and battery disposal. They are also causing more wear for roads, being about 600 kg heavier than a corresponding ICE. -
2000 - 3000 baht/night does not guarantee a soft mattress in Thailand. Thais are used to hard mattresses. We've even had Thai relatives visiting from other towns who have rejected the bed, preferring the floor. Scared of falling out, apparently.

Perhaps the OP should start barfining his women LT as well. I don't know that two swallows ( double entendre intended ) can be correlated with a high season summer.

Back pain may have multiple causes. It's an ailment which occasionally has doctors, physios and chiropractors stumped for an answer. It may be resolvable with medication and exercises, although sustained use of meds does not do the kidneys any favors. It may be worthwhile to get a CT scan to rule out structural problems, such as a bulging disc. I have back pain due to chronic osteoarthritis, I manage it with daily exercises.
