Agree. My family still insist upon buying those 110 track MP3 Thai music disks whenever they see them on sale.

Is this the model you intend to buy? ASUS Vivobook 15 (X1502). Anyway, I bought mine from my local Advice shop. Easier to take it in if there's any problem as they have a resident English speaking and friendly tech guy.

American Arrested for Stabbing Australian to Death in Thailand

Interesting to hear different points of view and actual experiences instead of just theories. Being from U.K. I was brought up to believe that police carrying guns indicates a 'broken' society and somewhere to be avoided. U.K. police have consistently voted not to be armed. From what I've been told by retired police officers with whom I've worked, they are also opposed to long(er) prison sentences. They believe that the longer the possible sentence, the harder a criminal will fight to avoid arrest, which is dangerous for themselves and the public. -

Great information thanks Burma Bill! -
First thing I did with my new Windows 11 laptop was to wipe it and install MX Linux instead.

American Arrested for Stabbing Australian to Death in Thailand

Recent incident in my small UK town. Single crewed (meaning driver only) police patrol spotted a van outside a small factory in the middle of the night. He pulled up behind the van. Two guys got out armed with 'baseball bats' and smashed his windscreen. They then drove away. Can't blame the policeman for not tackling two men who've done that. In fact, the Chief Constable commended his actions in issuing a warning via his radio for other police patrols not to approach the van. -

U.K. police weren't sure about the legality of my seaman's knife (stamped 'Admiralty' plus the year of manufacture). That caused me to look up 'flick knives'. Apparently, only legal to possess if manufactured prior to being banned in 1959 and also need to be kept at home. -
You use the term; 'Profession'. Hence you are not a basic user. The gist of this thread was; 'I'm using Windows 10, will it be difficult switching to Windows 11?'. I believe that a basic user would manage just fine with Linux and thereafter wonder why they ever used Windows?
-
I find configuration can be laborious and troublesome if trying to instal/use an application on Linux for which the developers haven't provided a GUI. Otherwise, I believe what I have read that the only reason a basic user needs Windows is for playing games.

Is it okay to drink Bangkok tap water without boiling it?
The Fugitive replied to topswijaya's topic in Bangkok
There are a couple of teams of guys who deliver in our area. Old, battered flatbed waggons. No names on vehicles or on the bottles. I suspect they fill them from the mains water supply. That's why I thought it would be interesting to get a test done! -
Government and private hospitals are both obliged to provide emergency treatment. However, it is not provided free by either. In reality, Government Hospitals are more likely to provide it initially for free then request payment for the work done afterwards (assuming the patient survives of course). Private hospitals are reluctant to provide anything without prior payment. Private hospitals have been known to refuse emergency admissions, the casualty being redirected to a Government hospital but, unfortunately, dying before they got there. Treatment going forward has to be paid for in advance (unless the patient holds health insurance and the hospital agrees to accept direct payment from their insurance company). Inability to pay (Government or private hospital) will result in treatment being discontinued. Care only would continue until the patient died of their condition or pneumonia through immobility etc.

Thanks for your info! We buy small bottles to keep in the fridge for drinking. For making tea/coffee and cooking we get the large 5 US gallon (18.9 litres) bottles delivered for 12 baht each. It would be interesting to get a test done on one of these! -

I don't let them get to me. I keep the ringer turned off on my phones. That teaches them! -

Health Insurance Refused Because I Take Statins.

Thanks for confirming. Sheryl is only looking after our interests. $600 US dollars per month is a lot of money for me. I’d hate any claim to be denied for ‘lack of information/failure to disclose’. It appears that Cigna Global are not following ‘the norm’ or even the customer information on their web application system. I was asked about my collapse due to low blood glucose in 2018. ‘What were the symptoms? How long did they last? What treatment did you receive? What did the doctor say? Any repetition since? Do you currently take any medication for this? Then, I was prompted to confirm whether diabetes was diagnosed or not? My truthful answer was not! The problem is that this may be good enough to issue my policy with no exclusions but would they pay out for a similar incident in the future? -

I do like them so much too! -
If NoShow started off on Skyscanner and it took him to booking.com that would be exactly the same as what many of us would do. I usually end up booking on trip.com. Seems to turn out OK.

Substitute blood donation for dentist for me! -
I've been issued with a boarding pass at the check-in then stopped at the boarding gate and asked to produce return/onward ticket or 'visa'. Airline staff obviously know that passengers with hand luggage only check-in online or at airport totems. On another occasion I was boarding for the second leg of a three leg flight (I was issued with boarding passes for all three legs) and deboarded by departure gate staff. They told me I shouldn't have been permitted to board my first flight.

Thanks, I have read this. Hopefully (how241) will be along sometime to confirm whether he has since received a medical questionnaire to complete since taking out his silver policy. I applied because I wished to know whether two previous condition/incident (hypertension and collapse due to low blood glucose) would result in exclusions. I asked for a sample of their Medical Questionnaire via email attachment. Cigna Global told me they could complete their Medical Questionnaire over the phone in 5-10 minutes. This is what I did and their underwriting team decided within a minute or so to accept my application and provide cover without any exclusions. I haven't proceeded due to Sheryl's warning that too much is at stake to do things over the phone. Best to apply via application form, submit full details and keep copies. I have also been advised by a very helpful member (Etaoin Shrdlu) to obtain and supply my full medical records, thus there can be no accusations of 'failing to disclose'. -
Not necessary to confirm (reconfirm) your booking. When you check-in at the airport you simply hand over your passport, they will weigh your hold luggage and take it away. They may also weigh your hand luggage and affix a label before giving it back to you. You already have a six character code which is recognised at all airports and you can use that (or scan your passport) at airport totems to print/reprint your boarding pass if necessary. You may also be checked-in automatically and sent a boarding pass via email. Up to you whether you wish to show that on your phone, print it out in advance or do neither and use the one the check-in desk gives you. They will all be the same.
