  1. We would like to think that RTP may not investigate if it was a case of damage to vehicles only. Injuries resulting are another matter. To be fair, this news item is rather short on facts.
  2. Thanks for the advice! The other family members do have (and always use) their own mail order 'accounts'. This parcel was addressed to my Mrs and had her mobile telephone number printed upon the address label.
  3. Good point! That's my worry! Usually, (but not always) the name on the parcel is written in Thai and I can't read it. That was the case today. However, her mobile telephone number appeared on the address label. As we know, and fortunately for us, Thai's often write their numerics in Latin!
  4. Interesting. Zero transactions for over 12 years. I suppose if there isn't a credit card involved fraud prevention may not come into it. They must remain hopeful that you may resume using their services?
  5. Today my Mrs paid 790 baht for a COD item (delivery by Kerry Express to her shop). It is an unbranded USB powered desk fan. It does actually work! She then said 'not ordered'. I tried to explain that she has been scammed. To be fair she regularly (like almost everyday) orders items and always selects COD. Problem is my stepdaughter, her boyfriend, my stepson and his wife, my nephew and two neices all order COD and request delivery to her shop. I fear more scams in the pipeline!
  6. Thanks for your info. As yet we don't know which applies. As per an earlier posting the cause of his injury was a road traffic accident so unfortunately he wouldn't be entitled to receive treatment under the Thai National Health Service.
  7. Good point, he is (or was) in business. He should have been contributing to Thai Social Security?
  8. What will happen if he cannot pay for the two further operations plus associated care/physiotherapy? Would it be possible to fix him up at minimal cost so that he can fly to UK to continue treatment for free?
  9. Can't put it more plainly, many thanks. Sympathy for the poor guy but it was his choice to ride a moto. There are alternative and safer forms of transport available.
  10. Spot on assessment! Por Ror Bor cover is inadequate in this case (assuming that's what he took out).
  11. Got a mental picture now of that 'Leatherface' guy from Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
  12. Could it be they anticipated a huge struggle with language?
  13. I too have a Santander current account, savings account and their Zero credit card. Strange, but my 'know your customer' telephone call was all over in less than five minutes, just asking if my telephone numbers were up-to-date and whether I was still employed or now retired? No proof of anything required. Inconsistency everywhere it seems!
  14. Agree! LED are supposed to last much longer too. But in my experience both LED bulbs and tubes fail very quickly.
  15. My Mrs is exactly the opposite. She says; 'What do I care about anything going on elsewhere?'
  16. Don't watch Thai TV because I can't understand Thai language. Whole family only seem to watch the soaps and spend (or waste) the rest of their time on their smartphones. In UK I used to watch the news, weather, films (not many) and documentaries. My Mrs would never sit and watch a documentary. Perhaps karaoke is to blame?
  17. I asked my Mrs what did Thai's think at the time about B52's taking off from Utapao Airport and Ramasun Listening Station at Udon Thani? Did Thai rice farmers have any sympathy for Vietnamese rice farmers caught in the middle of it all? She said we didn't know much!
  18. I'd much rather receive treatment in a Thai GOVERNMENT hospital than an NHS hospital in UK. In my experience Thai doctors want to give treatment. In UK they look for reasons not to. 'Monitoring your condition' equals doing nothing whilst your condition gets worse.
  19. Important to appreciate that everyone (tourists and ex-pats) have choices. If they insist upon riding a moto then wear protective gear. Best avoid drink and substances too. Better still ride a baht bus, take a mototaxi or a taxicab. Maybe they could even walk?
  20. Many thanks for this! At least an attempt to restrict (and limit the damage) caused by bank account hacking.
  21. Back in 2017 my visa agent told me that all the other banks were concerned about money laundering regulations. However, Bangkok Bank aren't. I have since been advised that this wasn't completely true and other banks continued/resumed participating.
  22. Only the visa agent or Bangkok Bank (assuming it's a genuine requirement of their's) could answer that question. Presumably an alternative form of photo ID containing an address would suffice?
  23. Thanks for the suggestion. The simplest solutions are sometimes the most effective and overlooked!
  24. Seriously considering going elsewhere in future during March and April myself.
