  1. Farang work buddy called the Tourist Police early afternoon, several years back, in Bkk. Lady answered the phone and explained nobody here, all staff gone to a birthday party for the commander of that office, please call back tomorrow. Some discussion revealed the maid had been instructed to answer the phone and say 'nobody here, all staff gone to a birthday party for the commander of that office, please call back tomorrow.'
  2. The Brit Shop, online food shopping, they deliver to CM.
  3. When my son was at uni in Bkk he often asked 2 or 3 buddies to come home with him to our big condo to do their team projects etc. Son grew up with fresh coffee no sugar. He tried to convert some of his buddies from 3in1 to fresh, no success ever. Most of his buddies knew where we had a sugar container and I always encouraged them to make coffee, Milo etc., take cans of Coke etc., and to raid the cookies or left over chicken or anything in the fridge. One guy headed straight for the fridge and made ham and cheese sandwiches. Most of them added 1 to 3 more spoons of sugar on top of the large amount of sugar already in 3in1. Not moderation.
  4. Banning further posts if there's evidence of several or more false/incorrect posts. At least.
  5. No you haven't because your 'facts' are completely wrong. But I guess there are folks who like to follow liars.
  6. You seem to be very confused.
  7. Here's another view. Surely society should expect that comments posted on any media should be truthful. And if not, especially when it's obvious the comment is not truthful, there should be consequences. Because of the vast/scope/breadth of lies and misinformation trump posted he was banned. Now musk has reinstated his posting freedoms. The question seems to be whether musk will now allow any/all comments to be posted and remain or will trumps future posts be monitoed and removed if they are not substantiated, and ultimately will he be banned if he keeps posting false words?
  8. Thai law allows Thai children to be recorded as the owner from a very young toddler age.
  9. If a person enters Thailand from a 'visa exempt' country what stamp does Thai Immigration put in the pasport on arrival?
  10. One of my US team members on a project in Japan (clever chemical process engineer) drank 50 mugs a day. Claimed it had no affect on him whatever and didn't stop him getting good sleep. He brought with him to Japan 2 Starbucks giant white filter coffemakers plus a large supply of Starbucks ground coffee normal strength; 1 machine set up close to his desk, one at home. His US wife was with him, she also drank 50 mugs a day. At the time he and wife both about 60 years old. Both fit, they rode bicycles together about 5 to 10 km every evening after work.
  11. Further re Aussies located in Chiang Mai: - If the passport has been renewed before, whilst living in Thailand, does the holder have to visit the Oz embassy in Bkk? - Where in Chiang Mai can the passport holder get the type of photos required? - If available in Chiang Mai does the passport holder hand the finished photos to the honorary consul? Or.. Any advice appreciated, thanks.
  12. No passport; lost, stolen. threw it away, dog ate it, washing machine ate it, expired 2 years ago...
  13. Don't agree, Thai French is quite good, I love a good steak, happy to eat Thai French.
  14. It's obvious all the world leaders have a team with them probably including a doctor expert re covid etc and monitoting any/all medical reports about other leaders. Meaning that the leaders are probably advised quickly who to NOT shake hands / who to NOT stand close to.
  15. Rubbish, my Thai son is quite a beef connoisseur, and he cooks a mean steak. He buys imported beef (mostly from Australia) and good Thai beef, (all mostly bought from Rimping in Chiang Mai). He's served Thai steaks to farang friends several times and there's been many compliments about the quality of the beef and his cooking. At home we stick with Thai beef, it's great eating and quite a bit less in price.
  16. Reality is that trump should have been investigated before being allowed anywhere near any money when he started his presidency. Further the hundreds of millions he skimmed off of donations for other causes should also have been investigated. Plus he should have been investigated for the hundreds of millions he scammed off students who signed up for his fake university. And the list continues...
  17. Minders probably had to explain to him / show him how to extend his hand and what to do next (if offer of shaking hands accepted). How many time have you extended your hand but the other person grabbed your wrist because they don't know how to do it, not part of their culture.
  18. Well food is expensive in many airports, many countries. Sydney, 1 year ago AUD12.99 for a ham and cheese sandwich. Narita Tokyo, food and drink prices are unbelievable. KLIA also prices beyond belief. And...
  19. Given that Covid has sparked again in China in the last 2 or 3 days, and given that there's infections recorded from the very recent meeting in Cambodia and given that the virus is still very active in the us and given that many international leaders have been shaking hands (with no gloves) at the Bkk meeting and the Phnom Penh meeting and given that Pyayut has been in close proximity to his ministers etc., and there's been infections reported, I'm surprised that they didn't all refuse to shake hands or be physically close. Specific to Chairman Xi, after the strict lockdowns at home and China's punishments for 'escapees' he needs to set a strong/strict example, so the last thing he needs is to carry Covid back to China.
  20. Reminds me of the Brit arrogant wife of big time all Asia expat boss sent from UK international giant. They lived in a giant 6 bed 6 bath house in Aree area. Air-con in every room in the house including bathrooms madam insisted EVERY every air-con on 24/7. Also a big swim pool filter etc., operating 24/7. And she had a giant air-con unit fitted in the lock up 4 car garage, she wanted whatever car she had to travel in (had a driver) to be cool at a moments notice. Her staff joked where the next air-con would be fitted. Because of comment from madam they were waiting for either the tennis court or the pool to be fully enclosed and air-con fitted.
  21. But is it over?
  22. Well they published his name (did they have his permission?), hopefully his adddress, mobile no., has not been published. But of course how many people will he tell. Then the pressure from relatives all claiming to have more/higher priority for a handout.
  23. Tunnels? Perhaps optimistic. Dig out a rough trench just deep enough, throw the wires in and cover with 4cm of loose dirt. Wires not protected or sorted or waterproofed, no records kept, more likely.
  24. "I was told to get back to Australia for 2 years without leaving for one day. " Maybe that was true many years/decades ago, but it's NOT true today. I researched the whole thing carefully before I went back' In Steps: - Return to Oz, day of arrival is first day of the 2 years. - Lodge applictaion for the OAP. i didn't have any detailed interview/interogation. The Centrelink oficer carefully scanned my completed OAP application form and the Statement of Assets and Income. She then commented 'your documents are fully complete, - Do you want me to 1). lodge the documents by using the big multi-purpose machine in the office now? Or - 2). Do you want to sit here and go through each page/question again then I'll lodge it through the multi-function machine or - 3). Take it home and submit yourself? I chose 2). 15 minutes later the lady submitted my forms through their mult-function machine. As per her sugggestion I called Centrelink Canberre (free call) late the next day and quoted my new CRN number. The pleasant/focused lady checked and said the computer has already started to process your appliction and at this point there is nothing flagged for further investigation. All the Centrelink staff (at the initial office whereI went to to get my CRN, and on the phone) confirmed that there is no requiremnt to stay in Australia with no breaks, for 2 years. You can go abroad and come back on short trips: - Building the total 2 years doesn't stop and start for the period(s) you're outside of Australia. I lodged my application for the OAP about 3 years ago.
