  1. In a report yesterday, for Chiang Mai one of the 3 areas mentioned was 'Muang Chiang Mai' which is much wider than the old city.
  2. My itinerary on Singapore Airlines is: 9:05 Depart Sydney 14:15 Arrive Singapore Transfer flight (same day) 15:25 Depart Singapore 17:00 Arrive Suvarnabhumi
  3. For travel to Singapore the regulation is; From the date/time the report was issued to the date/time of arrival at the destination the total time cannot exceed 48 hours.
  4. Good points. I'm transiting through Singapore which now has a regulation that the time gap between date/time of negative report and date/time of arrival in Singapore cannot be more than 48 hours. I've found very positive reviews about the Histopath lab at Sydney airport: open on time every day at 06:00 am, friendly and helpful, reports always shared within the guaranteed 1 hour. I'm in a wheelchair so not so mobile (I'm in Australia alone - all family in Chiang Mai, no remaining family at all in Australia) so always need to take my level of mobility into the situation. I've made a special booking with UBER, their driver will drive me to Sydney airport then help me to get quickly (with my luggage) to the Path lab (which is just 3 or 4 minutes walk to my check-in row, same level). And yes I am keeping my fingers crossed that it all goes smoothly.
  5. For foreigners arriving in Singapore (destination Singapore) and people transiting in Singapore it's a maximum of 48 hrs from time/date on the report to arrival date/time in Singapore. If traveler is departing from Sydney, there's a certified pathology lab (Histopath) inside the airport, on the same level as the check-in counters, departure level. Only 3 or 4 minutes walk between Histopath and the check-in counters. Lab guarantees one hour report by SMS/e.mail/printed. Open from 6:00 am, no need for booking, can walk-in, cost is AUD150-.
  6. See the thread "Breaking News 27 Oct 2021 Starts... BANGKOK (Reuters - Thailand will waive its mandatory quarantine requirements in Bangkok and nine provinces from Nov 1. ............."
  7. They should have been banned and fines years ago for using these words and creating the false impression that they are part of the beaurocracy.
  8. I have ASQ booking, 14 days, arrive Bkk 9 December. Early yesterday morning (28 Sept) hotel sent me a new booking document (all details) with days changed to 7 days, tests during hotel stay changed from 3 to 2 and appropriate cut in package fees. However I'm waiting to see full details of the quarantine changes coming on 1 November, and assuming that it will change to zero quarantine (because of very recent announcements but I can't see any mention of the 1 Nov changes being published in the Royal Gazette). I will arrive in Bkk, but need to get as fast as possible to my family in Chiang Mai. So waiting to see (on/after 1 Nov) whether travel from Bkk to regional airports (Chiang Mai for me) means hotel or home quarantine requirements, or zero quarantine/isolation, or perhaps permission in advance to do this travel. Too early yet for specific/substantive answers but keeping my fingers crossed I can easily transfer from Singapore airlines on arrival at swampy to AirAsia to fly to Chiang Mai. Also waiting of course to see whether the COE requirements will change/reduce, or maybe COE fully cancelled by 9 Dec. Or perhaps the COE factors will change, but still need to have negative test reports at check-in/boarding location and fast negative report on arrival, plus proof of double vaccination jabs. (At departure airport, Sydney, there's a full/certified walk-in pathology lab, no booking needed, full report by e.mail/SMS/telephone/printed report guaranteed within 1 hour. Opens at 6:00 am, located at departure/check-in level, 3 or 4 minutes walk to my check-in row. AUD150-.) All wait and see of course and to some extent dependent on numbers of new cases recorded between now and 1 Nov and onwards.
  9. It's a classic 'what comes first the chicken or the egg?' Do you have any answer for that question?
  10. Thanks Joe, I'm flying into Bkk on 9 Dec 2021, with double jabs of AZ and double jabs of Pfizer, so with some luck maybe I don't have to do any quarantine? Just fly into Bkk, then transfer to CM flight. But still a wait and see situation?
  11. LOST. Does the overnight announcement mean the foreigners (folks already holding various long-term visas and PR holders) who have proof of double vaccination, arriving into Thailand (Bangkok) to go to family in Chiang Mai: 1. Now have zero quarantine. 2. Now have to do 7 days quarantine in Bkk then free to continue journey to CM? Or ? Thanks.
  12. Got to have the big debt, compulsory, otherwise your not a member of the teachers' club.
  13. "...I am a teacher I must have an expensive house and car ." Very true comment, very common attitude. I'm aware of one man drives a Range Rover, now 5 or 6 years old. Last year he asked the Range Rover agents / showrooms in Bkk to arrange for him to buy a special pack of items he could have installed in his Range Rover so that it perfectly copied the current model. He's still paying off the Range Rover and is in deep debt to pay for the big expensive house he and his wife (also a teacher) live in. In the past, he got a promotion to head teacher in one section of the very big and famous government high school where he teaches. To show his position he arranged for a uniformed driver to drive him to school, stop the car, run around to the passengers side rear door, open the door and go down on one knee with head bowed way down, then, when the teacher alighted the driver had to carry his work bag into the teachers room. After 1 or 2 days the headmaster ordered that this activity stop.
  14. She's the niece of Sanoh Thienthong, IMHO one of the most scaly, tricky and untrustworthy Thai politicians of all time. Convenient? What valuable aligned qualifications or valuable aligned experience does she bring to the highest position in the Thai Education Ministry, which desperately/urgently needs major reforms?
  15. or in the US, Presidents current and past addressed as President (courtesy title).
  16. Yep, Rolls Royce did the right thing and played the envelopes game.
  17. "I have to put up with..." What's your point, are you some special person who is entitled to demand people agree with you?
  18. Have any Australians experience difficulty with this? My middle name starts with W. My full middle name is shown on my passport. But on my Medicare immunization history it only shows W. I'm hoping this will be acceptable. On the other hand have any ozzies ever expanded their name on their Medicare on-line records to show their full middle name?
  19. Also hoping for changes soon (before I fly on 9 December) to the number of days of quarantine, and hoping thee could be a stay at home for 7 days or similar category for folks who have been double vaccinated.
  20. a little earlier: "Make sure you have a hotel booking and evidence the deposit has been paid." Can you please confirm you only need to submit receipt to prove the DEPOSIT has been paid. (Just yesterday I paid my ASQ hotel deposit (5,000Baht ) and I got a message immediately saying that the balance would be processed (using my Visa cc) 3 days before the end of my 14 days stay, and will include any additional charges for room service, 7/11 purchases and service charge, extra laundry etc.)
  21. And what you conveniently ignore is that the reason he is here for the long term is very simple; the senate is stacked, 90+ percent of the senators are appointed (not elected) military men who will protect their brother no matter what he does / no matter what his personal performance is. And at every vote they will automatically give him the votes to keep him in his position.
