Nikki Haley doubles down: ‘Joe Biden is not going to be the nominee.’
scorecard replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Seems to me there's several DEMS who would be good candidates, so why hasn't the DEM machine got on top of this and already started serious campaigning to build the credibility of the next candidate? Already noticed several very positive comments re Buttieberg as a pres. candidate. Seems that him being gay hasn't stopped him from having a very big dem following, and neither it should. -
Trump has an appalling track record of not paying many contractors and hotel employees etc., and for not pay dozens of lawyers but has no hesitation to make statements re NATO countries. He's an Idiot.

Thai workers invited to apply for high-paying oil rig jobs in Brunei

Not a good question - how do you ensure new farang employees (anywhere) are not lazy? -
You mention 'direct experience'. Well I'm 80 years old in a few months, I'm not a believer and never will be, here's my 'direct experience with christianity: 1. I went to a government school in Australia for primary education. At that time it was compulsory for children at attend Christian education for 2 hrs a week on Wed. mornings: - Every child selected what 'group / religion' class they wanted to attend.-- Most kids played for the 2 hrs. - Many kids jumped from class to class, and/or attended whatever class most of their friends attended. from - There was no consistency / progression if a child attended the same christianity class every week. - Most 'ministers' or whatever handed out candy to encourage kids to attend their class. -There was no 'class' for roman catholic kids, it was assumed all roman catholic kids went to convent or marist brothers schools. My mother had completed a degree in education and in he day it was compulsory for teachers to complete courses to teach christianity but they didn't teach christianity because of the 2 hrs a week mentioned just above. There was some drive from trained teachers and those doing their degree for the christianity courses to be dropped. Why? The thinking was that gov't schools should focus on the 3R's, physics, chemistry etc, and there should not be any religious teaching. Ultimately it was dropped from the teaching degree course and at the same time the 2 hrs every week at schools was totally cancelled. 2. At 20 yo I was conscripted and went into national service and to the war in Vietnam. The first 3 months was rookie training in Australia. Near the end of the second month we were told that we would be attending a 1 hr lecture by the camp chaplain. We had to ask 'what is a chaplain?'. In this case the chaplain was a Church of England minister about 40 years old. We marched in and the polite smiling chaplain told us: - 'I am your friend' and he repeated again and again 'I am your friend'. And 'today you are very welcome to ask any questions, any questions at all and I will answer your questions'. - He continued about 'don't worry about going to war 'god and jesus will take care of you and won't get injured, god's love will ensure that doesn't happen. And I give you my personal guarantee you won't get hurt or injured. Near the end of the 1 hr he asked for questions and pushed, and eventually 2 or 3 boys asked simple questions and their questions were answered by repetition of 'god's love will ensure you don't get hurt / don't get killed etc. I stood up and then the chaplain asked me 'what's your question?' I replied 'please chaplain sir I have never understood where the bible came from'. The chaplain went into a rage came close to me and yelled 'how dare you ask such an insulting question, then told the 2 training NCOs and the platoon commander* sitting in the room to march me to the camp commanders office tell him that I had spoken in an insulting way to the chaplain. The camp commanded instantly said 'you will do extra mess duties every morning for the rest of your time in this camp. Report to the mess at 3.30 am, help get things ready for the cooks, scrub the pot and plans etc and get back to your own barracks in time to shower and be on parade at 7.00 am. I wasn't given any chance by the camp commander to speak. * The platoon commander was a Lieutenant who had recently recently completed his tour of duty in VN. About 2 days after the 1 hr one time session with the chaplain our platoon commander spoke to us and said 'there is danger, death and injury in Vn and nothing can protect you, and the chalain should have been more honest'. Later the same day our platoon commander spoke privately to me and mentioned that I had done nothing wrong. We never again heard anything from the chaplain or what was available if needed etc., etc. There's more to this incident but for this post it highlights why I have never been a believer.

Take a look at the human genome, it’s too complex to have just happened by accident. But is it true that nature is so powerful it can create new scenarios and adjust 'things / life' that need adjustment?

Australian governor-general to visit Thailand, strengthening ties
scorecard replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Got your point but it's a different point and I say again, Thailand is very unlikely to want to engage Australia in discussions / changing legislation etc., about this subject. Why would thay? Thailand should be focused directly on matters directly affecting the Thai populave, not the OAP for Australians. -
There is no evidence, whatever, bible or stone writings etc., or whatever: - That god or jesus ever actually existed. - That jesus was from virgin birth and/or from non-consentual sex. - That jesus was reborn 3 days after he died. - That the disciples parted rivers and/or provided food from nothing for thousands of people. Further: the bible does NOT mention anywhere anything about homosexuality or TV activity. _

At many stores staff making calculations is not necessary, all easily available on their keyboard and screen.

My Thai son asked why his 8 yo daughter had not been taught her basic multiplication tables. Answer 'not needed any more, smartphone calculator for everything'.

That's your opinion, not everybody sees it exactly like that. I say again, I rather doubt Thailand would want to get into that discussion in any way. -
Frozen bank account

OIC. -
I have a very good relationship with my adult Thai son, I spend a lot of great time with him and his great wife. Occupies my time and provides good discussions. Also I have 4 Thai grandchildren (17, 12, 7, 6 months) I spend a lot of time with them, we cook together, we shop at Big C together, I help them with reading English and a lot more. I'm occupied and happy.

Frozen bank account

The police would normally not get involved in the situation you elude to. Banks don't / can't freeze accounts because of a request from some third party. Call the bank call centre, they all have many English speaking staff and they don't bite. Get the facts. -

Nice try, but: - I really doubt that Australia will change such key policies, and - I really doubt that Thailand is interested in pursuing such change. -

My Last Electric Bill, Ever!
scorecard replied to Bandersnatch's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
Several impressive situations for sure. A farang acquaintance told me recently he purchases a solar 'set up' to create enough charge to run one a/c all night and it worked well, so he bought a second unit. Any comments on this much appreciated. Why, because our family is big, my Thai son has 3 very young kids and we run 3 a/c's most of the night, so our bill is pretty high, if son can establish more positive comments re solar just for a/c's he intends to buy. (By the way, I'm not looking for snide / judgemental comments on a/c's for kids.) -
Worst I'm aware of: Young very beautiful italian female professor accepted a short-term teaching contract, in Economics, in English, at a Bkk uni. Uni booked her into a nice hotel about 4 Km from the campus and sent her several messages in Thai script, that she could give to taxid drivers etc. Hotel picked her up at Suvanabhumi airport. First morning hotel hailed a taxi and the professor gave the driver the note, in Thai, with the address of the uni. On arrival driver had locked all doors and refused to let her out. Lady professor realized many people were very close nearby walking into the uni. She banged on the window several times and 2 male students went to investigate. Driver refused to unlock the doors saying he would unlock: - when she paid 500Baht (should be about 50 - 60Baht), and - when the lady allowed him to touch her legs. She refused. Students noted that 2 cops were standing nearby and asked the cops to intervene. Initially they refused. Students called the uni dean's office and requested deans office take action. Much more snr cop arrived quickly plus the dean arrived. Driver still won't unlock the doors. Cop say there's nothing they can do. Students decided to take action, they find a length of steel pipe and smash the window and unlock the door and get the lady out of the car. More snr cops arrive and berate the cops already on the scene. Driver taken away in handcuffs. Dean of uni now very concerned that the lady will insist to cancel the lessons and fly home to Italy that day. The 2 male students make a plan; they will go to the hotel every morning in a private car and bring her to the uni and same in reverse to accompany her back to the hotel early evening and if she wished they had dinner with her. Dean asks the hotel to employ an extra security staff (at uni expense) to sit outside her room all night. Course ends, uni tries to arrange a farewell event. Lady professor refuses to attend. Uni asks her to please come back to lecture more courses. She refuses. Nothing ever heard again from the police. Requests to the police for info on what happened to the taxi driver all ignored.

I blocked his posts many months ago. -
You should remember that going back 1, 2, 3 generations the daily objective was to survive, to provide 3 meals a day. You could label that scenario as selfish but i wouldn't agree, the label would be survival and not selfish.

Australian Aged Pension

"But hey, you believe what you want to believe, they are both law and they both apply to each respective pension, in layman's terms, once again, Article 18 for Age Pensions, taxable only in Thailand," The bold text above seems to have been confirmed several times. So that leaves Oz citizens who receive OAP funds into their Thai bank accounts (specifically those who have no other income) and how will these funds be taxed by the Thai Revenue Department?' There's been multiple postings re this very specific scenario but I'm still wondering what the answer is. What's your thoughts? -
