  1. My/our main concern is that it's taken a few years to get to where we are today and it would destroy my daughter if by being too inquisitive with questions it may go against her and GMM not bother with signing her up. My wife believes our daughter's education and accommodation will have to be financed by us and may well be out of our financial range. It may mean that my wife will have to move to Bangkok to stay with her while I remain in the NE and look after our other 2 children. Too many questions to ask.
  2. Our daughter (luk khrueng) aged 15 is a very forward child and has been pushing herself in attending various talent auditions in Bangkok and NE Thailand over the years. She sees herself as a singer/musician. She plays the guitar and obviously sings. Anyways yesterday we/she got notification that a company in Bangkok want to sign her up. The company being'GMM'. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GMM_Grammy. Between now and April they want us to go to Bangkok to sign a contract. Only problem being is that I haven't a clue as to what that will entail. Do we have to hire a lawyer ourselves? Will they school her? House her? Many questions we need answering but know of no one that can help us. Hence why I'm asking on the forum. May be, just may be, some one can help us. Any sensible advice will be appreciated.
  3. I reckon BS on that as yer average Thai policeman would not know what he's looking at if he was to see your passport and he wouldn't want to embarrass himself in trying to prove there's a problem with it. .
  4. I can't believe the guy on the left is armed with a catapult!!!!
  5. In 17 years I've only been asked for my driving license. Hang on I've NEVER been asked for it. I automatically hold it up when being stopped. Never been asked for my passport and I never carry it or carry a photocopy. Some people just worry too much.
  6. In English it does. Google for it in Thai. Or just translate. Law Text Land Code Act 1954 (up to 2008 amendments) https://www.samuiforsale.com/law-texts/law-text-land-code-act-1954.html
  7. Like most kids my 3 don't like eating vegetables. Comes with time. In place of the vegetable loss I make sure they always eat fruit as an after instead. The choice is then there as to their preference. One or the other in our house.
  8. Okay I understand why vets don't like to put animals down but couldn't there be a compromise in that the vets rigs up the paraphernalia to do the deed but the pet owner delivers the 'coup de grace'.
  9. I had a Gastroscopy done a few years back. H Pylori was detected on that. I did a couple of weeks taking antibiotics. A stool sample was taken after to confirm it was gone. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/h-pylori/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20356177
  10. Just a simple stool test will suffice these days, followed by antibiotics, if H Pylori confirmed.
  11. If I Recall Correctly.
  12. Yep
  13. Buy a 'Battery Booster' instead. It's a multi tool that all car drivers should have.
  14. No they don't have the upper hand. So you'd bow down to a police officer each and every time they asked you for money? Sad, very sad indeed. You do know that if paying a bribe to a police officer you are legally committing a serious offence in Thailand. Why take the risk? Play by the book.
  15. Are you on the same planet as everyone else? You've proven to be wrong numerous times on this thread but you continue to repeat yourself. https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/thailand/safety-and-security#:~:text=Road travel&text=You will need to apply, have an accident or injury.
  16. Out in the sticks there is a high possibility that she could be friends or family! In this case the rider/woman isn't riding on the bike. So therefore she doesn't need an helmet.
  17. Skatewash is right. It's 90 days of driving on a IDP before you have to get a Thai license. https://www.angloinfo.com/how-to/thailand/transport/driving-licences
  18. Cud well be 90 days as you say but 60 days sticks in my mind.
  19. You are completely wrong. An IDP may be valid for 12 months in other countries but in Thailand it's only valid for the first 60 days of you entering Thailand. Thereafter a Thai license must be obtained. No driving license then negates your insurance. This question was sorted out recently on here.
  20. It is a fact. The insurance is cancelled if a Thai licensed is not obtained within 60 days of arrival. That is not on applying for insurance. If you have no license then you have no insurance. Simple innit? https://homeinphuket.com/blog/how-obtain-thai-driving-license#:~:text=First of all%2C the law,or not wearing a helmet.
  21. A foreigner can drive here for 60 days on a IDP. Thereafter if one isn't obtained then you negate your Thai insurance policy. Driver beware.
  22. Don't get caught with it on your computer. It's banned in Thailand.
