Yes Pita was a glimpse of hope but we both know the military aligned government would never allow the likes as he would have made changes to their antiquated corrupt system and was a voice for the people which will never be acceptable - sadly!!! I think you will find at least as bad in neighbouring south East Asian countries, it just doesnt get to make the headlines quite like Thailand! Its a shameful, sad & sorry world we live in with an ever increasing number of those with no morals or ethics!! Corruption is a pandemic in todays society and exists in most countries only at different levels, the west being just as guilty as the rest but not so blatantly obvious to the casual observer!

When is the Thai justice system going to get serious about being the justice system?? The Boss has never been put on Interpol red alert and given the circumstances the minimum charge would be man slaughter, plus the other offences like speeding, driving under the influence and then of course the brown envelopes which is bribery to avert the path of justice!! Sure those involved in altering the facts should be brought to justice but so should the perpetrator!

Personally I think its all about control and is a global trend & the more difficult it is to get money out of your account the longer it remains in the banks control and is to their financial gain, they get to use our money! Like other readers pointed out the lions share of Thais live between pay days and rarely have 50,000 in their account, this is just a control mechanism thats is conveniently beneficial to the banks! If this were not the case the ability to increase withdrawl amounts would be an option within the APP available to the account holder. And lets be honest here, the majority of scams are actually authorised by the account holders!

How hypocritical this is, Thailand did the very same thing last year. Previously all low value ( 1500 THB and under ) parcels coming into Thailand were duty free but they changed the law to all imports attract duty. And they are complaining that Trump is doing the same!!!

It should never have gone to court, again a politically motivated action which is damaging to Thailands image and a constant reminder of the way the legal system operates.

Thailand is weak when it comes to law enforcement and prosecution mainly due to corrutption & education so many grow up with no respect for the law and others whereas in a country like Singapore you do not see this type of behaviour, the culprits already know the consequences will be severe!!!

Firstly the quality of Thai reporting of these incidents is usually incomplete or biased one way or the other. The laws in Thailand are in place but often not enforced for various reasons, often because compensation has been agreed and both parties walk away! Unfortunately Thai's have this tendency to "gouge" whenever & where ever they get the chance and many take exception to this which is most likely the case here!

When I went to school if we misbehaved we got caned, no mucking around! So we were taught to behave which is what is missing in schools today, society is breeding brats!!

It is an established fact the chinese are budget spenders with the lions share of their trips prepaid in China so what it actually means is that whilst numbers are down revenue per tourist will be up!! The Student aged 17 I believe should be legally charged for assaulting the teacher, no questions, & expelled from the school! The problem is with todays youth they so often dont know their boundaries and so often irresponsible parents fail to implement basic discipline! Its a global problem!
