Another omonous Koh Tao death with possibly unusual circumstances, they have kept this very quiet as it happened last month. The last fatality we heard about was the Indian couple found lifeless in a swimming pool and very little published about that incident. Reading the history of Koh Tao is rather alarming given that some years ago they sent a Police commander to take over investigations due to other unresolved fatalities and he was shot dead at the pier on arrival. I guess that tells you all you need to know!

As a Samui resident I can suggest a few changes that would make visitors experiences more pleasing. 1) Yes all the blue waste pipes that run under the sand on Bophut beach from the business's beachside, disgraceful and the authorities do nothing so water quality is terrible. Provide public garbage bins around beaches and attractions would be an easy job. 2) Make the Surat Islands a separate province so the Governor is more tourist focused and hopefully address many of the Islands issues for the better of both tourists and residents. 3) No public toilets in all the tourist centers accept at service stations which aren't at tourist areas. 4) Enforce the using of meters by all Samui taxis then no ripoffs! 5) Teach motorists how to drive, enforce proper parking rules as many cars park in a narrow 2 lane road whilst they shop at convenience stores & markets causing huge traffic issues compounded in the high season. The driving standards on Samui are atrocious to say the least! 6) Bangkok Airways monopoly puts many people off given the highest passenger flight charges in Thailand. 7) The collection of garbage is a real problem and water shortages are not so rare! The are several other substantial issue's but maybe they are better left un said!

8 Lao women arrested in Thailand for prostitution
paul1804 replied to webfact's topic in Central Thailand News
You would wonder why Thailand has prostitution laws because they are only enforced against foreigners, typical Thai justice. We can break our own laws but you cannot! -
Singkhon border checkpoint may become permanent crossing
paul1804 replied to webfact's topic in Hua Hin and Cha-Am News
I think because the northern crossing's between Myanmar & Thailand are experiencing heavy fighting the Prachuap Khiri Khan crossing is in far less hostile territory. Recently the Myanmar Junta requested to land in Mae Sot international airport over 3 days to evacuate citizens, however what they really wanted to do was move cash from the city banks across the border from Mae Sot and fly it to Rangoon, the first flight went ahead but the 2nd & third never happened with no explanation to Thailand. -

Anutin urges Phuket officials to get tough with foreign offenders
paul1804 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
He should be urging the government to get tough with all law breakers full stop, both foreign and local and especially with government employed people who scam millions from their own people and others! Given how wide spread it is you would think he would feel guilty given that the RTP are often at the centre of scams but no, just single out the foreigners! Until attitudes like this change Thailand will always be economically dependent on tourism related revenue and on the brink of third world status if they do not address corruption, especially from the law makers who are most likely the biggest offenders and the very people who are supposed to enforce the law! -
Thai government plans 7% VAT on imported goods from May
paul1804 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
What a lot of BS, it will cost more to implement this system and collect it than they will make. I recently imported 2kg of blueberry concentrate which is in powder form, I got charged THB 3,500 duty and taxes which means Thailand charges 30% import duty on food. Most countries dont have import taxes on food, just GST or VAT. So that probably means from now on parcels coming via Thai Post office from outside the country will require a trip to the PO to collect your goods. They must be getting desperate for revenue! -
Thai doctor in Swiss expat case says she has ‘stress’
paul1804 replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
What a lot of rubbish, I think half of the Thai population suffer from post traumatic stress! -
Sorry guys, I got my hospitals mixed up, its King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital on Silom road.
-
Then if you are a doctor and should have good ethics then why dont you politely suggest this to the guy!
-
BNH is a very good government hospital on Silom Rd, I believe there is one of Thailands leading Uroligists practicing there, another option is Bangkok Christian hospital, a private hospital also on Silom road and a lot less expensive that Bumrungrad. Saint Louis Hospital is also worth considering if you are on a budget.

There are many of us on this forum that have personal experiences with prostate related issues so what is wrong with sharing your experiences which may help the guy. If you dont agree with it then just dont comment, keep your thoughts to yourself!

Thai man’s arm severed outside liquor store after smoking dispute
paul1804 replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
In 1985 I was at a cattle ranch in a place called Safia half way between Port Moresby & Poppendetta, I had finished the days work and was having a beer with the manager when a kanaka came staggering out of the bush covered in blood. One of the villagers had gone crazy (longlong) in the village in the nearby mountains, he had killed 13 and hacked up a few others with a machete. The manager who was an Aussie got on the radio and called up the riot squad in Lae which was about an hour away by chopper to come and arrest the guy and take the injured to haus sick! Hospital! I am seeing more of this type of crazy stuff in Thailand in the 5 years I have been here which reminds me of early days in PNG, life is cheap! Also reading today on this forum about the English back packer couple murdered in Koh Tao in 2014 & blamed on the 2 Burmese boys makes you wonder where the Thailand justice system is heading! -

Taliban leader says women will be stoned to death in public
paul1804 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Well they have been fighting each other for the last 100 years with various interventions from neighbours and the west so I am not sure how beautiful that era would have been! Probably better than the status quo but who knows, nearly every leader in the last 100 years was either killed or overthrown so Afghanistan and turmoil seem to go hand in hand!
