It doesn't explain why they made it good for 5 years instead of just one year if it's a one use multi-entry similar to the current 6 month multi-entry tourist visa. Nobody needs to get a visa more than one year in advance. I think a more likely possibility is that it's re-usable every year for up to 5 years (with only one 180day extension in 5 years). Probably having to pay 10k for each 180 day period because that would be a similar price to the current 6 month multi-entry tourist visa.

Supreme Court rules Trump is entitled to some immunity in Jan. 6 case

Not that I think this is necessary. Democrats have been doing very well in byelections since Roe v Wade was overturned and this decision will only increase Dem voter turnout in the general. -
This ruling should do wonders for Democrat voter turnout. The convicted felon is not even the problem. That compulsive lying loser is just a symptom. He is pre-dementia and will probably be dead soon anyways, like his father.

Biden should just declare convicted felons ineligible to run for president. He may as well just declare himself president for life while he is at it. It would be an official act after all and that is total cool now. If he doesn't do that the convicted felon will if he manages to win, so may as well just preempt that now that the supremes have given the thumbs up.

Not sure if they want foreign tax numbers but they do want you to have a Thai tax number if you are in Thailand longer than 6 months. -

And that's a bad thing? I know American Lawyers working in Thailand. According to them it's not much of a problem. I believe they just have Thai lawyers working for them doing all the legal paperwork. -

Hmmm, 200+ pages of clowns and conspiracy theorists doing their usual whining, or a Thai tax lawyer that does this for a living. So hard to decide who to listen to. -

So you don't believe an actual tax lawyer in Thailand, but you will believe anonymous comments on an internet forum overrun with clowns and conspiracy theorists? -

One thing that sounds like a bit of a loophole to me is ATMs. If you take money out of the ATM from your home country bank, it's not considered repatriated, so not subject to Thai tax. It's only considered repatriated when you transfer money to a Thai bank account. I am assuming it's the same if you use western union or some other cash pickup service. So if you used ATMs or cash pickup as much as possible you can reduce your Thai tax exposure quite a bit. -
The minimum plan limit is five million pounds. He's obviously not going to be anywhere close to that but I am sure the brain operation was not cheap. The medevac included a doctor and a nurse accompanying him in business class. So that's not going to be cheap either. https://www.postoffice.co.uk/travel-insurance

The convicted felon should pick another convicted felon to keep everything copacetic. Unfortunately, when you don't include the people in prison or going to prison the list gets a lot shorter. -

Is Thailand a good place to settle down for the rest of your life?
shdmn replied to RolandRat's topic in General Topics
I liked the idea of living in Thailand up until very recently. Not just because of the tax and visa hassles, but because of the air pollution. That keeps getting worse every year. Now I am looking at the Philippines. The infrastructure and food is not as good, but the air quality is a lot better on average, and no tax/visa hassles.
