Well, Covax really isn't necessary for Thailand anyway, Thailand can easily afford to vaccinate all its citizens with the most effective vaccines. And it has a public health system capable of distributing those vaccines.
Covax does not equal free. My understanding is Thailand will be paying Covax for the shots. The advantage of using Covax is they can negotiate large quantities and better prices. They also have direct access and established relationships with the manufacturers.

Bye, don't let the door hit ya. Now that all the cry babies have pinky promised they are leaving there is nothing left to say. So I guess the mods can close this silly thread now.

A bit of over the top, artistic licence used here!
What's with all the derelict and partly demolished buildings, they weren't down to Covid.
Just a bit?

In all the years I have been coming to Thailand, I have yet to have my luggage searched. You can bring pretty much anything you want.

How many years before you break even on this after you take into account all the upfront and ongoing costs and savings? Also taking into account the estimated lifetime of the panels and any degradation over time. That's the bottom line. Maybe its already in the comments somewhere but I can't be bothered to look through all of them.

You feel safe with 1 shot of AZ when fully vaccinated people are still catching the virus? At this moment, I won't be going anywhere in a plane even when I am fully vaccinated.
There is a difference between catching the virus and getting so sick you need to go to the hospital. The vast majority of vaccinated people, even with just one SinoVac shot, are not getting severely sick.
I wish countries would talk less about numbers of new cases and more about hospitalizations because a lot of people seem to be confused by the distinction. All the lockdowns and restrictions are (supposedly) about keeping hospitalizations down and nothing else.

I would only use Thai Airways if it was C.O.D..
Many complaints of canceled flights and long or no refunds.
Even before this there planes interiors were outdated and service overrated.
EVA Air or Cathay Pacific.
Premium economy, excellent.
Also there is no backseat entertainment as they haven't paid that bill.
You need to fly directly into Phuket to do the sandbox thing. So it's not as straight forward as just finding a flight to Thailand.

It's the golden age for nut jobs. No need to stand on a street corner on a soap box anymore. You can easily just post on forums, create your own blog and facebook presence etc., and get thousands of like minded followers.

That will be a tall order, with so few vaccinated...
Better get used to it. It probably won't be long before you will need to be vaccinated before going to the mall or just about anywhere else.

Bangkok Bank used to be the easiest for a farang who does not live there to open an account. They have tightened things up though. So you need the certificate and proof of residency now like you do at the other banks.
I got my account before you needed the certificate and just use a friends address for my residence. Been a few years now and it still works.

Someone should inform this Koh Larn committee that you can still catch and spread Covid to others even if your fully vaccinated.
What's your point? You prefer endless lockdowns where people who have the common sense to get vaccinated can't do anything either?

thought they were predicting about 120,000 in 3rd qtr. At this rate they will be looking at about <40,000, and even less if they shut up shop on the sandbox due to covid rising
I thought you doom mongers were predicting it was never going to happen?
Let's be honest. You are going to try find a reason to call it a failure no matter what. If it's not the numbers of tourists it's the amount of money they are spending or any one of a dozen other lame reasons I have read some of you trying to spin around here.

So, Since from June to say Aug 5th (60-65 days) you will have been vaxxed 3 times in with only about 3 weeks between AZ and Pfizer? On who's advise did you follow for that regimen or did you plan it? Any noteworthy ill effects?
I read about an elderly lady that accidentally got 3 AZ jabs within a couple weeks and she got pretty sick. So I know you should not get them too close together. That's about the worst I have heard.

Very good offer. What happens when you don't live in Bangkok and every mode of travel is blocked
Then it does not apply to you. Any other questions?

That's about US$123 a day each, does that include hotel? I'm sure they will all be please to know they have been watched and audited so closely too.
The 6 stages of doom monger grief.
Stage 1: It will never happen, Thailand can't do anything right.
Stage 2: Nobody will come, Thailand can't do anything right.
Stage 3: Everyone will die of covid. It will be like a zombie apocalypse. Thailand can't do anything right.
Stage 4: Ok so even though lots of people came even though it's ultra low season with few flights, and those numbers will only go up in high season with more time to plan the trip and more flights, big brother is watching them. Thailand is a police state.
Stage 5: The tourists aren't spending enough money to make it worthwhile. Total failure.
Stage 6: Thailand sucks. Too many tourists throwing money around. The Thai gov't does treat me with my meager pension like I am special. I'm leaving.

AGAIN, I'll make the point....... It was a spike in "Infected people" NOT "cases".
And...in UK testing is still increasing - even in shopping centres, you can just walk in, or go to a pharmacy and collect a box of 7 tests for free.
So the spike is not only to be expected but doesn't really matter as the people involved are, mainly, asymptomatic.
Doesn't matter if it is asymptomatic. That was still a spike in new cases and it's the same reporting as all other countries. The increase in testing does NOT account for the spike, which has since gone down even though testing has not.

Vaccination has ended the problem in the UK. The hospitals are fine and everything is wide open. I can throw down beers in bars and clubs across the country any day, any time. I can meet any number of people, go to festivals, travel to any country that will take me. Am currently in the UK and covid is in the rear view mirror whatever the media might tell you.
Not rubbing it in, just saying once Thailand gets to a similarly high vaccination threshold it can do the same.
Without vaccines the UK would be locked down right now with hospitals overflowing. With vaccines, we are 99% free to do whatever we want (bar wearing masks in a few places still).
UK just got past a huge spike though. Not sure why with most people vaccinated.

Nobody will miss them. These guys that can't adapt to a new culture don't belong and are the ones that usually give all farangs a bad name anyways. The less of them in Thailand the better.

I thought I would give a update on prices here.
This is lunch I had delivered to the condo I am staying in. I did not feel like going out.
Honey chicken breast with cheese and a small piece of ham in the middle. Beans , rice, Potatoes, A nice soup and salad, and a drink. The cost delivered was 2.80 dollars and I gave a 1 dollar tip.. Total 3.80.
Here is my condo, I rented for one month. Fully furnished with a washer and air. Very good and fast internet. Total 470 for the apartment. This is in town in a very secure building. I am not liking it really, I want to move up to a better place with a pool and gym. So If I can find one next month I will post pics and prices. This was last minute.
Where is here?

Anyone else tired of the constant negativity on this board from people who will not be happy no matter where they live and have decided that it's all Thailands fault?
Some of them even feel the need to create these "goodbye cruel world" posts blaming Thailand for all their problems and how they are fed up and totally positively maybe sorta thinking of leave but not really. Ok fine go, even though I doubt you will. Don't let the door hit ya on the way out.

Tor is garbage. Most of the time it's frustratingly slow and laggy or completely non-responsive. Paying a pittance for a VPN is orders of magnitude better. I would never recommend tor to anyone.

Get one north facing. You still get plenty of light but not the heat.
Yup, also possible to get an ocean view facing north.
One alternative, if getting direct sunlight, is to use one of those outdoor shades on your balcony to prevent the sun from hitting the window.

Understanding AliExpress
in IT and Computers
Posted
I buy stuff from AliExpress all the time. Generally, it's cheaper than Amazon for similar things. I find the quality is usually pretty good for what you pay. The tradeoff is long ship times depending where you live and where it's coming from. My stuff always comes from China and it can sometimes take a month or more. Usually it's only two or three weeks but you never know for sure how long it will take.
