  1. In the states in most places, this would be a 5 year sentence, mandatory, with a max of 20. Enforcement of crimes is the only way they will learn to think twice before committing them. Here, as has been said, parenting is lacking to the point of more children raised by grandparents than any other country, up to and over 35%,A kid gets time when he tries to do this he will learn a hard lesson, as will others who see the penalty being applied. The same thing goes for lack of enforcement on the roads. They don't care if up to 65 are killed daily. If they did, the laws already on the book would be enforced, including the minimum of 15 years old legally driving and wearing helmets.
  2. Wishing someone a good one can mean many things, and most understand what it means, besides you of course. When I have said it, I usually mean to have a good whatever they were about to do. A good evening, concert experience, afternoon, rest of morning, dinner, lunch, cup of coffee. Wishing someone a good "whatever" they were about to do is a lot more cordial than just saying , Bye, guy". Pretty much just like ColeBOzbourne said. It's not useless wishing anyone a good anything. it's polite. Someone with a genius level IQ should be well aware of such things. You won't hear much of anything like this in Asia. Just the sawadeekrup or sawadeeka everyone says, which can mean hello, goodbye or they are just doing it to fit in, to not appear to be rude, even if they don't care about anyone personally. Good manners are the same everywhere, even if that's over your head. And by the way, things aren't terrible in the US, and I would be there now if I could with my daughter, but have to wait awhile for the right opportunity. Things here are far worse in almost every way imaginable, especially for females.
  3. Another huge reason I will have my daughter raised in America asap............................https://tdri.or.th/en/2022/06/culture-of-shame-silences-abuse-victims/
  4. Poisoning animals is an offense most everywhere, including here. Better to help the animal control people who spay and neuter daily, so they can keep up with all the people here who love kittens and puppies here until they grow up, then abandon them and abuse them. And if I catch someone poisoning my animals, they will visit the nearest hospital as an inpatient.
  5. Live on my ex's mom's land, government land, 300 meters from nearest road, on a dirt road that leads to farms. Military camp 1 click away, they walk or jog past the house daily with their dogs. Ex's cousin lives about 250 meters away with wife and three kids. Good people, help each other when need be. Gas station and small restaurant at road before you turn on dirt road. Our village is next door. Most people I see are same farmers that own land around me. No other close neighbors besides the one, rest are over 400 meters away. Woods 200 meters away where people look for mushrooms after rain. Surrounded by rice and cassava fields, besides small reservoir across dirt road, where some fish live but much is netted by locals, so it doesn't have a chance to grow larger fish. Most neighbors smile, knowing me for 5 years plus. Kids steal some of my fruit but that's expected in this kind of area. As long as they leave some for me it's okay. There are some sick individuals that have poisoned some of the dogs that call my house a home, along with other village dogs, for whatever reasons they have besides being disturbed dog haters. I've had chickens and ducks but they are either stolen or killed by the roaming dogs, the same for any cats I've tried to keep here. Very quiet, even the morning music and village notes aren't too loud, so it's the kind of place I want to move back to in America when I'm ready. Occasional snakes, some venomous, but I don't see them much, which is good.
  6. My opinions mean nothing. We see she was charged with murder, which means there is evidence for an arrest. Yes, she has to be tried, and is in custody, so time will tell. There have been many who were actually convicted of murder and were, are, innocent, so there's always that. From what it says, the kids seemed to be well taken care of, but people can hide a lot, because no one knows what goes on in anyone's home besides those that live there. Women who are abused regularly will hide this from others because of shame, so you never know. I was just replying about the circumstances or her living conditions, which mean nothing if a child is killed. I've been subjected to things I never did, as have many, so I do understand what it's like to be a victim of other's lies and deception, until proven otherwise.
  7. Easy to find if you want..................https://ecpat.org/story/trafficking-in-thailand-the-demand-fuels-child-trafficking-for-sexual-purposes/
  8. Who would have empathy, or rather, sympathy, for a murderer, especially of her own child. Circumstances mean nothing. There are millions living in dire poverty that don't kill their own, and many who have money that do, in all countries. I fully understand raising children, as I've had 6, and they cause you to lose your mind sometimes, as all parents who care will attest, but no matter the situation, you don't take your anger out on a small child. If you need help, it is available, because stress from children is very real. So many, especially here, have children with men that have no intention of sticking around, or paying for that child's future. That's the court's problem here, and it won't change until fathers are made responsible for the children they make. Then they would think twice before having sex with many women and creating children that a lot of the time end up with grandma. Women raising children by themselves do have a very hard time, as well as dads that have custody, but again, it's no excuse to hurt those children. They are innocent victims of their parent's inability, or lack of desire, to care for them. Get help, as it's available, before you do something inexcusable and ruin your own life.
  9. What has her personal circumstances have to do with the fact she was charged with murdering her 7 year old son? It doesn't matter if she's on welfare, food stamps, free housing or is working to support herself and family, or if she is extremely well off. None of this is any reason to kill her own child is it? A person who murders a child is a very disturbed individual. Stress is known by all of us who raise children, especially as I have been as a single dad. Hurting your child because of stress isn't an excuse. You hurt a child, you lose them. You kill a child, you lose freedom, and when you get to jail, you lose a lot more. I have an ex here that has primary care of our daughter in a joint custody situation., where I get her weekends. She has hit my daughter before and isn't teaching her much besides deception and lies, and kidnapped her 4 times and hid her from me because she is a covert narcissist with depression and an abusive background. Nothing was done here because they think the mother gets the kids no matter what. In America she would have lost custody, been jailed, and only allowed supervised visitation. Another reason Thailand is behind other countries. And yet another reason I will take my daughter to America where she will have a better, safer, life. You seem to always stick up for locals no matter the behavior. Brown nosing doesn't help here, they don't care anyway.
  10. Praying to a statue of a man doesn't work. That man was the same as every other man on earth. He had some good ideas, just like millions of others. People get followed because others , for some reason or other, believe in what they say. Hitler was followed by millions of people because he had some ideas to help his people. History has shown us what he really was, along with Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Kim, Trump and many other narcissists that were, or are, insane. When someone has a good idea, even if he is a very disturbed person, someone will believe in what they say. That's followed by another, then another, who are like sheep and followers, until that number gets to thousands , or millions, all because that person had an idea that made sense. Doesn't matter if his agenda was genocide or mayhem. Some can say this about Jesus, and then God, but this is a very different concept, and one that others will never believe in, because there is no visible proof of a God. Jesus wanted people to love and take care of each other, with no hidden agendas. The world leaders, many if not most, are in this for the power, and that power has lead to the destruction of cities and millions of deaths. Praying for money has, and will never, work. This is a problem here, where many pray for wealth instead of working for it. A few win, by plain luck, the lottery, and some have said they chose a number because it was prayed for or came into their view somehow. Plain luck, period. Praying to a statue of this man has never helped anyone. It would be a better bet to pray to the right entity for the protection of girls, and women here, from the very disturbed men, many in charge, to stop being taken for granted, molested and sold, and for the leaders to actually do the job intended, enforcing the laws, so there wouldn't be so many dying daily on the roads here. Very simple project, actually enforcing laws already on the books, instead of looking the other way with their hands out for a bribe. This is a huge reason I will do anything I have to to get my daughter out of this place. And by the way, who are these boys you will send? Do they work for Tony Soprano?https://www.nationthailand.com/thailand/general/40031638
  11. Some polls list guitarists that are mediocre, and some don't those that are great. Mark Knopfler, Michael Schenker, Al Dimeola, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, Brian May, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Yngwie Malmsteen, Santana, Jimmy Page, Duane Allman, Roy Clark, Steve Vai, Glen Campbell, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Tony Iommi, David Gilmour, Eddie Van Halen, Joe Satriani, Ritchie Blackmore, Alex Lifeson, Gary Moore, Frank Zappa, Steve Howe, Steve Hackett, Tom Scholz, Neil Schon, Joe Bonamassa, Peter Green, Johnny Winter, Zakk Wylde, George Lynch, Mick Ralphs, Mike Slamer, are among the best.
  12. Make a copy of your passport, including all pages, for your bank needs and if you're asked for it for some other reason., before you send it.
  13. Yes, and your post office can give you the details. It should be the same going there and coming back from your location (Thailand)
  14. Along with too much alcohol to the wrong type, boredom, mental illness, prejudice against a people who are all nationalities, which is plain ignorant, and narcissism, thinking they are somehow superior, when they are actually inferior thinking because of low self esteem.
  15. Paying bills, taking care of kids, family perhaps? The cost of vehicle loans, mortgages, food, gas, schooling, and other amenities has a lot of people running out every month. People who have no children have things a lot easier, as well as those who don't travel. There are millions at poverty level, on welfare, food stamps etc. For every person someone knows that has it pretty good, there are many more that are struggling every month. Some live beyond their means, thinking they need to keep up with the Joneses, and this is why the debt level is so high.
  16. Anything besides promo calls your best bet is to walk outside (if you live in a metro area around other Thais, any who might speak a little English) and give the phone to them , asking them what the caller wants, and then if it's important, ask them to ask the caller to find someone who speaks English to call you back. If it's a delivery, GPS can find you easily, more so if you're the only farang around, whereby everyone can direct them to your house. Like others have said, if you can't speak Thai, get help from others. Speaking basic English helps anyone anywhere, especially if they are dealing with English speaking farangs, but it isn't their responsibility in Thailand to know English as most of their deliveries are going to locals. I get many deliveries at my house in the country yearly, and it just takes a little patience dealing with them until they know your house.
  17. Believed in what a Thai woman told me when we met here in Thailand. She was very pretty and charming, spoke a little English, had a 5 year old daughter and worked at a hotel laundry in Isaan. Came back after having a great month with her, and talking daily until I returned. vIsited again, returned home. Got married, traveled back and forth, honeymoon, pregnant with our daughter, waiting to sell my house in America. Started building house, red flags came on, but ignored mostly because miscommunication was the real problem. After house was built, small arguments over very little had her kidnap my daughter 4 times before I had to file for a divorce to make her return my daughter. In America she wouldn't have gotten past the first time and been jailed. Joint custody, although now she works in Pattaya and I have my daughter full time, until I can return with her to America. She had another daughter I didn't find about until after we were together. She gave her up at age 9 to ex's family, second at age 10 to another ex's family, got her back, now she's with first daughter and her husband while ex works in Pattaya. Grandma had second daughter for awhile also, just like 1/3 of the other children here in Thailand. This is to show you what can happen, not that it will, because there are some women here that are more sincere, although money is always in the front. They want a better life, and you can't blame them, because the local men are usually not responsible enough to stay with a woman, besides the farmers. My advice would be the same as a few before. Visit, get to know here for as long as you can before you commit to staying with her here and marrying.Rent, don't buy., a house or condo. Helping her with money isn't a bad thing, as that's what the majority of farangs do that don't just buy their women. Her working (if true) is a good thing. Do her kids live with her, meaning do you see them most of the time while video chatting? Many live in Bangkok while their kids are back in Isaan with grandma, which is a red flag as to being a responsible mother. Her being 38 puts her in a league where she isn't wanted by many, and having 2 kids puts her out of the ballgame as far as locals are concerned, except to being used by them. That's why a farang is a better choice, more likely to stay after sex. Just like any other relationship, and I speak from experience, take your time!!
  18. I was going to say Jesus, to ask quite a few questions, and get answers on some very important topics, but someone beat me to it, so I'll say Hitler, just as WW 2 began, to ask him a few things , so I could save millions of lives after we were done drinking the coffee.
  19. Have had a 2013 Fiesta for a few years now, and almost all of the troubles I've had were, are, related to the TCM. It affects everything electrical. Just a few weeks ago though, the alternator went out, and I was lucky to be able to drive to the nearest Ford dealer about 2 kilos away. Stopped just as I got it parked. Funny thing, the radio went off first, then the power, the car going very slow. Then the warning dash lights, then in the control panel, it said, transmission malfunction, bring to dealer immediately. When it was checked, it didn't show anything transmission related on the computer. Just the charging system, so the warning was wrong. They said the battery was fine, but charging was less than 12 volts, so the alternator was replaced. Problem solved. The TCM was replaced last year, and it was giving me a lot of trouble beforehand, periodically, and Ford couldn't find the trouble right away , even though it should have shown up on the computer. When it did, I replaced it. The warranty was extended until 200,000 for this car just for that . As far as I recently heard, the service manager said it would be replaced again free because it was again extended more, but it didn't show up on the test while the charging system did, hence the alternator replacement. I also had trouble before when a sensor went out, power failure, acceleration etc. If you can, bring it to another local shop, just to see if they're analysis using the computer is different. Usually problems do show up on a computer test, but not always , or right away.

If you know music and are really into good music, you know that a lot of what many others considers good is simple, dance rhythms and beats people can move to. That goes for the west as well as here in Thailand or Asia. Much of what is actually some of the better music released every year doesn't get worldwide promotion, and a lot of people will never be exposed to what is actually good. Even people that are really smart can like simple music that's largely electronic and doesn't involve good musicians. Thai people love to dance, and we hear the kind of music that's played all year here. Loud drum beats, squealing guitar playing and simple repeated notes. There are a few musicians here in Thailand that are pretty good. I still don't consider them as world class musicians like the one's I've listened to over 50 years, but I've been surprised in some I hear played here. I'm talking about instruments mostly, or parts of songs that are instrumental., because a lot of music here is pop copied from western sounds, and some of the sung words do not mix with the music. Those really into good music will understand this, if they are those who've been listening to good western (meaning American, European) music all their lives. I grew up in the 50's through now, along with the disco sounds I despised, with the exception of meeting girls in same clubs, and a lot of women love to dance, and like the dance music because of this. I won't waste time, which in life is already too short, listening to music I don't consider good. Rap, hip hop, dance, electronica and the like, aren't worth my time. and would rather spend my time listening to good rock, jazz, blues, metal, country, folk, classical, fusion, country rock, and folk rock. Much of the music you hear here blasted is what the younger crowd goes for. The same as in America. The older you get, usually, the more you gravitate to the better , more melodic, and better crafted sounds. The Macarena, a song I consider silly, is a song people can move to, which is why it was written. If you look at the bands that get into the music hall of fame, you wonder why, while so many much better musicians are ignored, at least for awhile. More younger voters, who don't know or understand what makes good music. There artists that are multi millionaires that make blase pop music that have millions of fans worldwide, just because of a few words in the song they can relate to, or because they can move to it. Beyonce, Madonna, Miley, and the like all know what makes money, and it mostly all sounds the same. Millions of people will never hear of Joe Bonamassa, Mark Knopfler, David Gilmour, Paul Rodgers, Mostly Autumn, Enya, and many progressive rock bands because most of what's really promoted is the former pap. I myself have turned my girlfriend here onto a lot of good western music, and since she understands English well, she can relate to it. She loves Thai music also, and I see this by what she listens to by herself, but she is surely one of the exceptions here, as most Thais will never hear most of what's really good music because most of what finds it's way here is the pop. There are many expats here, and some surely listen to some of the world's good music, but if they're wives aren't open minded or don't understand English well, much of what is played around them is lost as background noise. Instrumental music is the exception here, as that has no borders. Some of the musicians here seek out sheet music from the west, and this you can see in their playing, meaning mostly guitar, but also wood instruments, drums and strings.

It isn't about listening to the music that does anything. People with a higher average IQ will listen to a variety of music. Some of the smarter, if you regard having a higher IQ as smarter, will be listeners of classical music, maybe because of the intricacies of the music itself, although other music has this also. Higher IQ people tend to be more curious about the world and this also has some to do with what they enjoy in music.

  23. All I have been doing is arguing intelligently. You prefer insults. I state facts. Your actions are the ones of a narcissist. If you don't understand what that means, look it up, although most don't readily admit it. I've had Parmigiano Reggiano many times, imported. It's my favorite pasta topping. And it only comes from one area.
  24. The polls aren't going to have pizza restaurants there if the pizza doesn't match up in taste. That's a ridiculous statement. You think a restaurant is going to be highly rated because of their tablecloths and flower arrangements? Again, you need to spend years in a place before you even begin to understand its ways. Passing through in a rental car and stopping every day for a slice doesn't cut it.
  25. I think they are comparable. I lived in Jersey 30 years before moving to Texas. In San Antonio, there is a restaurant, Florio's, who are from the town I lived in, and had a pizza place in Bergen County. As soon as I tasted their pizza, I was home. They had supplies sent from NYC and NJ to Texas. It's rated the best in San Antonio.
