  1. Actually the language is also a big plus - many understand English at more than basic level and English lettering on signs a bit easer to understand than Thai/Chinese, Because this is a Thai forum and most members live or are reading because of that.
  2. My logic is old fashioned just as I am old. Legal is still how I prefer to live. In my many years of posting here I have not done so to belittle anyone - but I will point out legal issues.
  3. Yesterday is today with no mention of what today is. From other reporting this happened at 0130 Thursday morning (so today - the 17th).
  4. Pattaya can not change fixed laws - as such fines are. And the immigration office is not in Pattaya but Jomtien.
  5. You are aware that dental work in USA can be as cheap or cheaper than here in Thailand (if you use shopping mall type places). As for chiropractors that is a US thing - most other countries have few if any.
  6. https://www.immigration.go.th/en/?page_id=1666
  7. Relax - those are for overstay - late 90 day reporting is not overstay and fine should only be 2,000 baht.
  8. Not unless there has been an earth realignment that I missed - the airport was on the South side of the city when I was last there.
  9. You do understand Thailand "notary" is in name only and not internationally official. Thailand never signed on. https://thailawonline.com/public-notary-in-thailand/
  10. Same mantra was playing in the 50's when Japan turned the world on its heels. There are a lot of good products made in China and many of the brand name products we think of being made elsewhere are being made there. But yes at junk prices there is a lot of junk available - but it seems to be getting less rather than more (price of good quality hardly more than junk these days).
  11. If your friend has free medical treatment at home perhaps best to continue as drugs can be expensive for cancer here - even in government hospitals. Know one person on preventative therapy for another cancer and bill is about 4 million baht for a year monthly outpatient treatment at a government hospital. But yes there are specialized hospitals available - someone will be able to name. For treatment perhaps India would be a good option if money is an issue.
  12. Whenever you have the 2,000 baht available. There was no reset with that extension so until you make a report/pay the fine you are late reporting. I would try to get it taken care of.
  13. You should make your 90 day report when it is due (90 days after last report or last entry into Thailand) - extensions of stay have nothing to do with such reports (unless one of the few that do a new report - not sure many do that anymore with online reporting so easy for most).
  14. Actually the second generation 90 day online reporting system has been working very well for some time now. But as with any computer systems it can fail from internal or external issues. From above report suspect there was a major issue yesterday. Combined with the long delay in processing - which seems to have been caused by recent month of more holidays than workdays - expect appearance is worse than actual condition.
  15. So did I but would not worry about it yet as all reports have been taking a lot longer recently and we just had another extended holiday weekend. As for being down this often happens for brief periods - especially after holidays. Don't believe they have caught up with the backlog yet.
  16. Indeed not for heating - was talking coil to coil AC electric transfer and that pot had no direct physical electric contact. Guess should not have used the induction word.
  17. Yes. And as said this is within the last several months that it has changed.
  18. That is not the case with mine recently. Regardless of reason transfer to selected account will be FTT at normal 1400 Bangkok Time.
  19. Although not 100% guarantee many of us have our accounts tagged to only use same bank for transfer (ie Bangkok Bank account have them fund from their Bangkok Bank account). This may result in all transfers being received at 1400 however - even if you do not tik funds for long term stay in Thailand.
  20. And has just about as much taste.
  21. It is - but larger and spicy pork - and better. Always preferred rindswurst when I lived in Frankfurt years back in the Binding Beer flip top days.
  22. What I posted was a small engine - likely his boat had a much larger truck type engine mounted on that control stick - not many without experience would have much luck in my opinion - believe his calling for help was the prudent step - especially as he was now responsible for another's life.
  23. This is the type of motor used and it is manual control of depth in water as well as turning and speed. Most people would not have a clue how to even start it much less use in middle of ocean.
