  1. It is actually the least likely way and otherwise slow way, to get rich, with the mindset that money is limited. You describe the old way of getting 'rich'. In business, money is unlimited, you do not need to live frugal or cheap at all, neither are debts a issue. You just need to invest a proper amount from the youngest age possible, monthly. If you start very young even 300$ a month could be enough, if it started 30 years ago. The funny thing is that most people not think about it until 40-50, same you describe ''when i was about 40''.
  2. I could imagine the $$$ earned on shotgun approach also helps a lot with that happening more in countries like this one.
  3. I don't get this entire debate about water and groceries. I just bought this automatic water pump and then order 5 of those large water things that last quite a while, they are delivered and I have a small plastic mover with wheels to the elevator for this job. I do the same with grocery deliveries. What is left to buy always fits on the motorbike and backpack.
  4. Makro can deliver too right
  5. Is it worth it or would it been a good investment? No of course not, this entire stuff with the condo's is nothing but a big bubble and people were playing roulette to just try buy and sell and make quick money in it for a few years. As you wrote yourself already for this specific condo: it is now already in a <deleted>ty state, will only get worse. Then people can of course pretend the current listing price and square meter price is XXX but in reality (almost) nobody is paying it. And eventually the market will crash (soon).
  6. This has nothing to do with Thailand, this is what most banks offer you if you are using a foreign card. And it is not always the best deal to take ''no'' either.
  7. Happened to me a few times when using EU cards, sucks if you are on a tight budget as it can take a while to get back. I always try to use a HSBC or Citibank ATM in SE asia when using cards from europe to avoid issues.
  8. No offence but how would you remember ><
  9. So why do you start this topic here, if you basically write exactly what is 99% sure the cause of your issue. You got your karma back, dangerous game to play with those call center scam gangs, they have a lot of budget and resources. Your money likely is in nigeria or india then lol.
  10. That's just nonsense people say who not have money, to have a valid excuse or base argument whenever the money topic or issue pops up. But yeah of course, the first important thing is to be happy with themselves.
  11. You are more or less right, this is due to the insane act of money printing in the past years too. Basically what used to be 1 million is now 3 million. That is rich. To have more than that in your example is called being wealthy. Many people seem to not understand the difference between 'rich' and 'wealthy'. Imagine the issue for people who are now young or working and want to retire, need much more. Same reason stocks keep going up while companies are down in reality, that is because the dollar is worth fk all, not because those companies do so incredible well. The opposite often and same counts for houses.
  12. ''The going price now'' and are there actual buyers who would put that figure down if you now wanted to sell 20 rai at once? My family in law also have over 100 rai and the going price is outstanding, however once they wanted a mortgage or loan for a house on the same land, it was barely worth anything compared to those figures, to the banks at least. Those prices are insane high for the middle of nowhere in Thailand.
  13. I've lived with both and israeli on islands in the south, there is little going on about those subjects. Both sides are crooked, so better to just not talk it and be peaceful.
  14. I think there is more ukranian hiding than there is russians. Russians just come on holiday and go back.
  15. Doesn't matter how one looks like if flashing a rolex and spending dollars.
  16. What's there to know anyway, I was more curious about a picture of him today and the eventual sentence that is actually within Thailand.
  17. Well, if using the crazy drugs, nothing is impossible. If it was a drug deal gone wrong, or some girl or guy visiting, its weird the 6K cash was not at least taken. Perhaps he was on the run from someone already. Sounds more like a pay back.
  18. I never understood this part as they required me present when we applied for a passport too. This while I at the same time was not a legal father yet and visa extensions apparently not possible without being one (anymore). Kind of funny in a way, in one place they consider me the father another they don't. Same I could open saving accounts for my son without issues, on my own.
  19. Depends so much where you live, I had places where my bill could be up to 5-6K baht a month using also 2 AC because the building was in full sun all day and the concrete even super hot in the deep night. While where I rent now, I even run one AC with often the door open in day time on 27, and my bill is never more than 2.3K. That being a 3 bedroom house. Then again I also have rented studio condo's with just 1 AC, having almost always a bill of 2-2.5K as well. And no it was not due to some landlord bla bla, always the official government bills.
  20. Career criminals, prison time is like a holiday to Pattaya for western guys.
  21. Let's be happy this is not a Karen country, you would be fined by accidently freaking out and wrongly addressing it in a back soi at night.
  22. Not sure how long you still expect to live but technology is not advancing in the same speed as it did since it started. You talk about a 5-10-20X speed in the next years, so within a decade you would already see most of the things. Within 15 years, for sure.
  23. It's called the future, 20 hours working per week will be normal. To then know you are like more or less a decade in between, it gives little motivation. Certainly knowing the financial system + housing markets sooner or later need to crash and a new digital currency comes. Just to survive and live life seems all that is worth while for many. I'm just in early 30s, and no I'm not lazy, I already did night shifts illegally when I was 15 in hospitality and tourism. But I also started to work less now, because I just see it isn't really worth working harder too, you more or less earn the same even. I can recall if I now go back home, i earn the same working 24-28 hours than when I work 40 hours, due to taxes. I think the new generation is more aware of such things too than the older generation is, I see so many people who worked 5-10 years longer than necessary. In a world where 1/4 males die before 65, to then be promised a 'pension' at 70, what would you do. And then also not being able to buy a house. Then the choice to not take children, reduces costs even further but IMO also decreases motivation and urge to work hard.
  24. Well yeah exactly, you basically double the risk already by having now 2 people with a media file that shows the CC details. You might as well mail the card by post in that case, like the chance is bigger you get an accident on your way to the local Thai fedex office than that your package would not arrive there. In terms of credit cards being stolen randomly, almost all times it are hacked databases and the like, as there are millions of stolen ones being abused on a daily basis, we talk US billions yearly, the chance is not that big for it to happen to a individual, yet it happens a lot and the chance is big one of your cards is in a database somewhere too. You can purchase these lists on the dark web for peanuts, people buying these usually try and convert it into paypal money, gift cards, bitcoin etc. This is why they sell these gift cards cheaper than the value on websites like ebay too.
  25. I became as good with my left hand as my right hand is thanks to the accident I had. That is actually a big benefit lol.
