  1. The buildings are concrete and poor isolated, single windows. Old as well. In cities they get very hot, hard to keep them cool, unless perhaps in lucky cases where all your neighbours already run full steam. On top of often older aircons, or higher than government electric rates. 6K is certainly over the top, but it is no surprise to get 2.5-3.0K baht electric bills at a 4K room. Unless you love to heat. Also, not so much about it being a 4K room but more the general size of a studio, would be same at a 12K condo new building studio size (which are also concrete and poor isolated). Mind you that the 4-12K rates usually are 3+ month contracts with some deposit. Aside all this, transport costs also add up, easily gets 3-5K per month. If you factor in all these variables, it is not that bad of a deal to be on walking distance of everything, without deposit or contracts, at just 15-20K a month. But then again, this is why ''what you like'' matters, some people would rather be 20 mins out of town for < 5K rent so they can then rent a big bike for 5K too, and enjoy 5K on fuel to drive around.
  2. If all these mentioned things are so obvious to you, and you had 2 cents of brains, you would know you can fly there for 1K baht in 1 hour. So what is your actual question? All is obvious but you expect us to tell you that a 12-13 hour train ride, where you usually sleep over night at, is like a Harry Potter experience just because it goes from Bangkok to Chiang Mai?
  3. So true, specially those cheap rooms the AC easily nears equal of the rent. And never is included for those deals at 6K too.
  4. Chicken farms with loud drunk people and showers full of hair you mean. Tell me 3 places around the city center now that offer a private room for 6k a month without having a long-term contract and I buy you a case of chang or leo to choice. Obviously i mean a OK private room, not to sleep next to short time using people and junkies lol.
  5. That's a crappy housing deal budget or needing to spend 3K more on a bike aside of gasoline. Let alone if you want actual privacy, no not for 1-2 months. No wonder you now ask about Chiang Mai, you considered to get arrogant and a cheap deal there instead already.
  6. What is ridiculous about that? That comes down to just 750-1000 baht per night, that is what 500 baht was 5-6 years ago. Even includes your cleaning, electric bills etc. This without any deposit or long-term contracts. You pay that about anywhere unless going for 3-6-12 months deals.
  7. Laughing my ass off, the last place any girl would be undercover is Pattaya lol. It is funny, if she was a guy, she would fall for the first one with a better story, that actually is 'undercover' in the way she meant it.
  8. If asking what you mean with fun is a strange question to you, I think you have little future on expat life and forums. That you automatically associate fun with potential erotic subjects, means you are actually the potential sexist in the room too. Some people consider fun to be just good gyms and coworking spaces, other all care about golf courses, others indeed might just be looking for sleezy nightlife options and then again others might just wanna know all about the temples or roads in the mountains to ride with a bike. And so many more. It is a essential question before being able to answer anything more, sensible, in detail. How you would travel, what areas would be likely most suitable and so on and on. I guess you are just a troll fake account anyway, otherwise you are seriously lost. Actually see how short lived you are here, how little you posted, and how obvious it is you are a woke.
  9. A good done indoor can easily sell wholesale for 300,000 baht per kilo, but in that case he could also sell it to a dozen shops within a day himself. If you have no choice but to take it in weed, let some people check it and tell you what it is worth. Sure a lower quality could still also be worth 300,000 but that would mean selling it by the grams to retail. Not selling it at once wholesale. But not sure how much he owes you, if it's just 30-50K baht I would be open to get it in weed rather than cash. If more let him sell it.
  10. “too small, fast, and sharp turn” = I see at least a few times a day here lol
  11. On samui and phangan Flashexpress was overloaded big time, for weeks, this caused everyone to switch to Kerry only, who then in return got overloaded and has been in a big mess month or even longer now. They both still work, I guess just many shops temporary not work with them. Aside of this, I did notice 2.5 months ago, that I could no longer ship my monitor from Chiang Mai to island with Kerry too. Which is strange. I think most shops are setup by SME owners and they pay them too little fees. Thailand Post has never let me down in 5 years, even it had a bad reputation before.
  12. Tell him for the business part he need a big fortune to make a small one + if he stops being able to splash money on her, as soon basically leaving the job and moving to the middle of nowhere, she will ditch him just a few years later. Or take loans on the house and land. He is still in time to leave her, even it costed him a lot. But yeah, they will always still do it and then cry.
  13. If you need a news article for the tourist police helping a foreigner, you know things are bad lol.
  14. I had the similar experience as her, even I had insurance, they constantly were demanding cash or card payments, while I was half K.O. in emergency room. Just garbage experience to be honest, better to have large stack of cash on a Thai bank ready for these situations, hard to do as a tourist.
  15. Even after the husband saved the 'captain' his own child, he still lied about how it happened...
  16. Wht is this nonsense article about? It is very well-known why Schengen has such strict visa rules, because Thailand is still a poor and developing country too, the place would be flooded by hundred thousands of SE asians working illegally. Not to mention my Thai wife can get a 5 year visa + eventually passport, within a decade, no issue at all. Thailand is only a all day sunshine life if you have some western money.
  17. Most people automatically think girls are hi-so already if they look half chinese, dress well and have a normal office job. Says nothing at all, but yeah, those girls can be good enough to help you out with going to a bank etc too.
  18. I did similar buying land with mortgage and wife, as it also will be for my son, however I have a 30 year lease on half the land in case we split, and build my own bungalow there. She will need for 2 decades paying it off anyway, my son will then be 24.
  19. Plenty of people get a discount on their car or land paying it in cash, or buy hand bags worth that money in Siam malls. Not that unusual.
  20. I suppose they transfer it to some dodgy Windows computer after their shifts, and that hard drive would be damaged (on purpose).
  21. Yeah usually in the south they work wherever and for anyone, and they do have some sort of a visa thing setup. But then again many are here also illegal, I guess that is something your wife could easily find out. I do not think it is a big issue, and yes, hard to find any Thai down south. Sometime it is not about having a company or papers, or even money, but just about knowing the right people or being a original local there, to be able to do XYZ too.
  22. Wasn't there another French guy doing the same in Pattaya, but much younger than this one, too?
  23. That was their mistake, spending it on Russian gogo girls rather than the Thais.
  24. Which usually includes some personal accident insurance too.
  25. Classic mirrors are not look cool + for getting trough traffic between cars. Usually however they install new ones that are under the handles. If in Burriram, well, places like that they usually not have much brain and just do whatever.
