Can we state that tourism in Thailand is "sick"?
ChaiyaTH replied to peter zwart's topic in General Topics
Tourism in the south is more than fine, it was even a problem to get a room on many island during last high season. Nothing even close applies to anywhere like Bangkok, Pattaya and Chiang Mai. Well even there are plenty tourists, just not the type we used to know. Should we even want more than 50% of the highest peak (40 million) again? Not either. So where are these classical tourists and backpackers we used to know? Vietnam and Bali. The only negative thing I see is that girl bars and nightlife became miserable in for example Chiang Mai, but actually this was already happening before covid, just took time to die. Outside of the party scene, as long there is western food available, I am happy to see less. I would go to Vietnam too i it was my first holidays or I am on a budget, Thailand isn't cheap at all and the service is also nothing was it used to be, that includes smiles etc. -
Yet they still have to break the record in 1976 in Netherlands, there isn't a trending line at all for it to be more significant hot / hot longer. Only thing that changed seems that we have more often a summer with 5 days in a row 25+ celcius and 2 days 30-32, as if anyone complains about that. They said in the news that we should not eat spicy food if it is too hot too. Thais laughing for sure.

800000 BHT for immigration
ChaiyaTH replied to fulhamboy's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
To add: for marriage and child, the 400K also does not need to come from abroad, only need in bank 2 months, you can even borrow it from someone. -
Shortages around suthep road and huay kaew road too but sometimes it comes in, I grabbed a 2L dark blue one last night. I easily drink up to 1L a day but sometimes none at all for 2-3 days too. Aside of milk I love orange juice which also sometimes have shortage (rarely can find the tipco shogun but otherwise love the sai nam pueng). Well at least they never run out of coffee here.

Second one who seems to think the color is artificial? Never seen o juice for real? Nature has many strong color foods. -

To add some positivity to my negative comments: I used to buy these all the time during my first holiday to Thailand when taking the daily river boat in Bangkok. Still 10 baht after 10 years. -

That is long and serious marketing, totally different, you might as well join the woke and cancel christmas as of coca cola then. I should be careful what i say, i have a track record of predicting what is next lol. -
Total nonsense post, topic starter wants to learn how to leave Thailand fast or in a body bag. At least that is how Thais eventually respond if you game them. If you think you are owed something and in your right so much, have fun wasting another 100k on legal fees in civil court. Or another 200k by defending yourself on criminal charges you could land with these ideas of damage. You lost, game over, next.

I believe science says that just 10 minutes a day is actually enough already, if possible during the early morning, look into the light (if sun too bright look next to it else bad too). Also seems to be the most effective for waking up your entire body and mind properly and giving a energy boost to start the day. Those ten minutes in the morning would not have a significant impact on tan too. Also it is known taking supplements isn't the same long-term, not a solution. Same issue with vegans etc.

What are you suggesting? That i take out the grannies when we know time is near anyway? So i can book upfront? -

ChaiyaTH replied to omnipresent's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
Yeah in August 17. Anything is cheaper if you book upfront, not looking for my 1/3 trips out of prison a year. I fly often and last minute or a week before I know it at most, this never was an issue but changed recently, luckily it is totally fine for BKK. Same for the wife and kid, that's 2 tickets one way, usually last minutes, with all these old people dying unexpectedly, or getting sick, or another wedding, or another person this and that. -
I have lived in both Chiang Mai and Pattaya myself so I understand the TS his post. Chiang Mai for sure has a much more warm and safe feeling to it where people are all super sabai sabai. Pattaya is much more hardcore, if you not like that vibe, better to just go to Pattaya for holidays, I do the same for that reason.

It's getting expensive in general, for chiang mai khon kaen there is barely flights nowadays too and easily cost 2K one way... Bangkok still for 1K easily (dozens of flights). -
If a girl was not ignorant and naive in the first place, they would not be in a bar anymore. So you can expect to get the BS stories if discussing certain subjects with these ladies, let alone a mama san. I recall a similar conversation between a guy and 2 girls in a bar recently, who thought that if they married in Thailand, they automatically would get everything if the foreigner died, even if this was money or wealth in other countries and bought / earned before marriage. They kicked him out too after he told them to be wrong, it seemed like this broke their dreams or something. One just got married and was the mamasan / owner.

I guess you don't know many girls then, because the majority barely makes that. Not to mention that it is obvious that this can only be earned for a limited duration, nothing will be saved up usually, no retirement is build up etc etc etc etc. If you put that in perspective, even girls earning 50K in reality only earn 15K, if they would save it up accordingly to the limiting factors such as age, in that job. Not to mention they are usually wasted after doing that, never can do a normal job again + health issues of years long drinking shots and more.

Murder suspect of Hans Peter Mack case pleads innocence
ChaiyaTH replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Based on what? Your subjective opinion? Anything could sound like anything in that case. This is what is reported so far. -
Obviously isn't it, this is the same in many western countries, most offline retailers are gone and if you do buy it you pay quite a bit more. Renting a building, all the extra staff, aircon bills for the building etc etc. To pay all those kind of costs, aside of usually having free delivery or installation services, makes it easily 20-30% more expensive. But can be worth it too, warranty handling for example.

Same for me, knowing I also came here at a young age already so it was not really about a budget, just whatever I can make each month. If everything is going good, I often also do more fun things which results in higher expenses. While if I am very busy, or when money is low (which would result in getting busy too), my costs can be low. In terms of budget it doubled from what I used to need but that is also because I now have a child and pay rent for a bigger place etc etc. Otherwise I could still live on almost the same figure as I could 10 years ago. Mainly because I also know much more places, or where to get what for the best value etc. Also confident that if I lived this same stage of my life back home, my wife would need to work fulltime too, and we would still live way poorer than we are living here while spending average. If something is way above my expected budget, it is the time you can lose for little things like bureaucratic stuff, visa. stuff etc. That's not money but time is money so yeah whatever.

Murder suspect of Hans Peter Mack case pleads innocence
ChaiyaTH replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
The german lady had approached his parents in the past for doing business together in their sea food business. The parents felt something was off, specially as no money was paid upfront and it became quiet, so no deal was ever made. The parents later on learned that the german lady now still got in touch with their son, and the son claimed he made some profits on a land sale in the south of Thailand with that lady. The parents then stopped paying attention to it. So he likely got to know Olaf via the german lady, could indeed be that he is innocent and used or forced. At least this is what was reported before in the news. -

I recently had a issue with them too and stopped using it entirely due to my old iPhone being broken and I didn't have the backup for the 2FA key there (as i used it rarely and didn't have active holdings, more to transfer in usage). Instructions to recover or reset it seemed super reasonable and so I did, twice, to at the end get to hear I have to do it again because I not reply their final email within 24 hours, even I did and proved I did. This is Thailand.
