Thailand’s cannabis sellers say US growers are eating their lunch
ChaiyaTH replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I thought it was already illegal to import cannabis end products to Thailand, but it has to be for sure. -
On the electric (and water) bill is a contract number, you can use that number with mobile banking to pay outstanding balances. I always do this when I am gone longer, around the time the bill comes I use Kbank and look on the contract number, the balance shows up, even if it is 2 months together already, no issue to pay it via that way. I think many people don't know it can be easy like this too. You still receive paper bills. It's also useful when renting a place to a tenant, you can see if he paid them.

Does your Thai partner know much about history outside of Thailand?
ChaiyaTH replied to sharksy's topic in General Topics
All they care about is that the finance for now is in order and that there is nice food to eat, and some fun to watch or do. The selfie part is not with all of them so much, only narcistic ones. To be honest I would not want them to be like 'a regular western GF' because then I would simply date a 'western girl'. It is actually nice to not be bothered with all the nonsense from western news and countries here and living quite peaceful, nothing really changes while in the news and past decade they make you think the world ends constantly (climate change, covid, proxy wars). -
Imagine they would report this with normal flu cases, or how many people are diagnosed with cancer, you would be more shocked.

Who asked you to follow or needing to understand, has zero to do with my question. Neither did I ask your advice or opinion to tell me about alternative countries or locations. How is that even relevant at all too? It is not. No wonder this forum and website is dying by the month, there is just always the same nonsense and never clear info or true knowledge, just old knowledge that is hidden away between 100,000 comments and thousands of topics.

Wow sherlock, you saw the website lik I did too. The point is obviously about the fact that there seldom to never is any slot, neither are the seldom slots shown '14 days in advance', more often it's 9-10 days. Anyway nevermind, all the answers on this topic are basically zero-answers + questions towards me, that have zero to do with the question I ask. Which is about anyone with recent experiences in KL and this appointment system, themself.

I feel sorry for OP lol, imagine you worried of safety outside traffic in TH

Wasnt in a rush or issue, just wanted to use the freedom to travel a bit since borders opened up. But to go to KL only for a 30 day on arrival VS a fresh non-o 90 days elsewhere, id go elsewhere. I just find it super akward that this appointment system never has good options or slots since covid, it never was my favorite embassy but love KL a few days. Also surprised no more news or topics popped up related to this? I suspect nobody goes at all due to this, so the embassy is doing this on purpose or what is the logic?

Are there any 'normal' farangs living in Thailand?
ChaiyaTH replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Feel sad for you to live life like that. -
I have been trying to check the appointment system for the Thai embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, but every time I checked over the past 2-3 months, there is no appointments available or only on some very specific date that I can't even align planning with (even I am a bit flexible). Any news about this or people with experience? Really seems to be a mess compared to for example the appointment system in Vientiene. It really sucks as I haven't been there in years, due to covid too, and would love to get my new non-o visa there. Specially now 45 day is back to 30, a normal run would be a waste, aside that I just need the new non-o sooner or later, to go back on yearly extensions again. Tired of travelling already since covid is more or less over.

Disagree entirely, met people that are worth a penny when talking drunk, but smart, nice and good. business people sober. Or decent nice people who turn out bitter and boring. Sure if someone is obviously loud talking, bad speaking and has a gangster walk body language, it can be judged by the cover, but can't say this is always the case. -
My American friend up north with a bachelors in teaching, but no experience, received around 55K. However he also earned on the side with tutoring and this would easily be another 20K a month. This was not even a super B school or university too. I think you basically just have to get out here, if possible with no rush to take a job within the first 6 months, to then see what your options are and in which locations those are + what you like the most.

Are there any 'normal' farangs living in Thailand?
ChaiyaTH replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I rarely seen any people with hands or necks tattoo in Thailand in the first place, the few I did were tattoo artists and business owners overseas. Aside of that, I have seen plenty of engineers, lawyers, scientists and more with tattoos. Even at Thai universities now most students will have at least 1 small tattoo. You must be very narrow minded and uncultured yourself, if you judge the book by it's cover. -
Not sure it is the best time for waterfalls hehe. Be more like 'water stream' if any left during the hot months, at least to most I tried visiting with my parents in law last month (fail).

ChaiyaTH replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I know plenty of the more interesting people around, I enjoy having beers with them, but I do not have their contact or make it more than that. I guess that is also the 'choose' part right, what is crazy is subjective anyway, and I might enjoy 1 'crazy' person in my life even as friends, while for others that would not be nice or good. -

Where did I write that you have to avoid them upfront? Nowhere. I also do not need to become friends with idiots who have cool stories or experiences, they often talk loud enough to hear them sitting on my own table in the bar or restaurant. But sure, I did not say doing a few beers on a drunk evening is bad either. Anyway, not so sure of that as well, plenty of experiences and more proper knowledge for people who are normal and better. The OP is kind of the living proof of that, he posts this wondering what is obvious not the reality. -

1) You choose and attract the people you meet and deal with unless you live in like the ghetto. 2) You are the average of the people you hang out with / the friends you have. 3) If you go to places to socialize, in a travelled country like this, of course you also always will see and hear these crazy people and stories. Doesn't mean that's the majority. I could also believe most expats in Thailand are russians, israeli's and germans as of being on a island right now, but of course I know better. Most of them are not even here for 2 years yet. -
No savings, huge debts: More and more Thai seniors struggling to survive
ChaiyaTH replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
This confuses me still daily, honestly. Like I know people in BKK working for 15K a month, cheap 2K room etc while they can have jobs with a free small room included, on the islands, and earn easily 20-25K including tips (except maybe low season a bit less), yet there is not anyone to find or even in line to get a job. They are 90% all burmese, and the performance is just as <deleted>ty. The only fun part about it is when people from BKK visit here and keep talking Thai to them, not knowing they don't understand a single word of what they are saying lol. Anyway; Where are all this people who need money if they not look for work? -
When my wife starts cooking it hits 150-300 lol.

Phuket governor says go outside, smog is “natural phenomenon”

I think what he is trying to say, this happens every year but it usually never lasts too long. So it is 'naturally happening every year'. -
Getting a Visa in Savannakhet
ChaiyaTH replied to smoo1954's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Sounds like a horrible plan but thanks for the extensive reply and information. In my logic you can simply fly in the afternoon from Bangkok, take a taxi to the border and stay over night, be the first the next morning to cross and do the application. Leave the next day again and fly back by evening too. So my question basically was and is: how's about taxi's and minivans at the airport (roi et). -
Except for a few days, no issue with pollution down south and enjoying beaches daily. You would have the same pollution in any country if it is for a few days a year. To live in Bangkok or Chiang Mai etc is a choice, TH is bigger than that. To move back for this silly, also might bore your miss who ventures for more fun in farangland over time.
