ikke1959 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News

DDPM Reports on Road Safety During 2024 New Year Festival Campaign
ikke1959 replied to Georgealbert's topic in Thailand News
and many provinces will probably not give the correct numbers as they don't want to be a dangerous looking province... Anyway as long as there is no better driving education and no enforcement of traffic laws 24/7 365/365 it will be dangerous on the roads and become even more every year.. Read the narticle of the 13 year old one who died on a motorcycle. as an example, and make parents responsible for the lack of responsibility to keep the kids away from their motorcycles. Here in my soi another 4 grade kid is driving around on a motorcycle... -

ikke1959 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The Thaksin clan is several times removed by coups already... Why should it be this time different?? Thaksin is already too much involved and the PM is more busy with her family and business than with the country -

ikke1959 replied to Georgealbert's topic in Thailand News
That number is lower than in the past years, but maybe that is why they made it 10 days. , This year average of 36 a day Last year 284 in 7 days is average of 40.. It looks better, although for many families more grief than party for 2025, and next Songkran again for other families and it goes on and on -

Marriage Equality Act: Nationwide Implementation from January 23rd
ikke1959 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Sad to see and read that so many comments are so badly informed about gays and the same sex marriage.. Comments enough but they have no clue.. Foreigners can marry Thais, but everybody has to be informed even the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the British Embassy indeed doesn"t give permission yet... Only when Anutin has signed again to confirm... -

Marriage Equality Act: Nationwide Implementation from January 23rd
ikke1959 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
According to Bangkok Pride, who is organizing the mass wedding, Anutin has to sign to confirm and several Embassies will not give the permission if this is not done yet...Can find on facebook under Bangkok Pride and you read it in Thai as well in English.. There was confusion first if it would be possible as according to the law 120 after publishing in the Royal Gazette, but the court decided that it only can start from 23rd January, being the 121st day after publishing... -
Marriage Equality Act: Nationwide Implementation from January 23rd
ikke1959 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
It is a big step only Mr Anutin haven't signed the law yet and therefor it is still not possible to get married before he signed it. There is a lot of confusion going on now as Embassies can't give the permission to get marry yet before the law is signed by Anutin, but we all know that this man want to show his power and probably will sign the 22nd -
Good fortune: PM Paetongtarn’s assets exceed 13 billion baht
ikke1959 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
but there is no money for raising the daily wages, there is no need to update the outdated Thai laws, as they can own land and houses in other countries, and they can bring very expensive things from abroad without paying any import tax... They should be ashamed that these superrich people keep the population so poor... If there is karma they will pay for it- 95 replies

Mother Forgets 4-Year-Old at Beach, Realises Back Home
ikke1959 replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Sounds so simple as I read it but there is no awareness in Thailand, no education in driving, school or at home and everybody drives as they like and no enforcement of any law. In the Western countries the fines are high and must be paid but with the corruption of a few hundred THB you never can control the traffic. The lazy and corrupt RTP is a big part of the problems.. and speeding at longer distances as you claim is totally not true.. Here everybody is speeding even in my soi which is barely 300meters cars and motorcycles drive like crazy...and not only in my soi in many others too as friends experience the same -

PM Paetongtarn’s New Year Message : Unity & Progress
ikke1959 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Nobody will ever understand the politics in Thailand. The Same Sex Marriage Law passed by thye parliament, the Senate , His Majesty the King signed it and it was published in the Royal Gazette.. The law would be active after 120 days but confusion if it was 22 or 23 January. A judge/court had to decide.. Today at last the court gave the verdict it will be 23 January.. But suddenly Mr Anutin must sign the law, and he refuses... so still nobody knows when or if the Same Sex Marriage will go on.. Why is Anutin refusing? he has no power to old it against as the King signed it and approved.. Probably he want to show he has power and will sigh maybe the 22nd. It is a disgrace how the LGHBTQ community is treated by this Government.. And than Ms pupput making nice promisses.. They even can't anything good -
Deadly New Year Roads: 215 Deaths in Five Days

Day 4: DDPM Steps Up Road Safety for New Year Festivities
ikke1959 replied to Georgealbert's topic in Thailand News
More holidays are needed.... and less rules on the roads....it seems every year there must be set a new record...I am so sorry for the people who thought to party , but are in grieve now... and I have no mercy for the ones who speeding, drinking or drugged as a driver.. and I don't know why the police and the Government don't shame themselves with every year putting so many lives at danger.. They should be prosecuted for recklessness -

93 Dead, 575 Injured in Two Days of New Year Road Crashes
ikke1959 replied to Georgealbert's topic in Thailand News
Check points are no use... In 20 years I live here I never was halted on New Year or Songkran, but only on week days to check the sticker for the tax payment... Nothing more never asked for a drivers license even...It sounds great to make road safer, but they don't do anything about it in reality -
Anutin Launches Road Safety Campaign for New Year Holidays
ikke1959 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
He opened the drawer and found the same book as last years and now he is pretending it will be better and safer, and next week the book disappears again in the drawer -
I must say that when I drive on the road I see many times ambulances or other cars with only lights on, but no sirenes... I also give them way, but I have strongly the impression that they only use their lights to get a free way... In fact lights AND sound is a must to give them free way, but only lights I am not sure.. Same for other cars as police escorts, firefighters, or even common people which have the red and blue lights on or in their cars.. No wonder there is confusion... This week in Hua Hin there was an ambulance with light and sound and everybody gave them free way, but when he do the U turn to the hospital, I don't know what happened, but the driver jumped out of the ambulance and went to the car behind him and "talked" to him and went back to his ambulance to go further.. Than I am wondering how serious injured or help was needed for the patient inside..
