AOT and immigration unite to tackle Suvarnabhumi Airport queues
ikke1959 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Advice more than enough, but the Thai culture will never accept ideas from others. Everybody thinks they are the most important person and make their own rules. At the airport it is the same.. Long rows waiting.. Immigration officers who see that is growing start to come and open their counter in a slow way. The visitor has to make a pic leaving also as arriving , biometric fingerprints and as an arrival passenger they need a boarding pass.. ( In which other country do have to show that??) Than checking all the pages of your passport, write a story in the computer and stamp the passport. But take it easy.. rows will grow but they take their time. Where are the automatic passport checks?? Why not all counters occupied the whole day? Why boarding passes for entry? And if you have a re entry permit you have to go to the local immigration office for your address notification and 90 days paper.. Are computers not connected with eachother?? local immigration different than the leaving side and different again from the entrance side?? Maybe they should work on that -
South Korean YouTuber sparks tuk tuk fare controversy in Thailand
ikke1959 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It is not too expensive in my opinion, but it is free to accept the deal or not. If you don't want to pay or pay less negotiate or cancel it... Anyway Koreans and Thais are not a good match at this moment, and probably it is a part of it -
Sounds familiar... same here Blood pressure meds and very tired even change of medication did not work...I live with it an take a nap every afternoon and that works very well.. Probably it are the meds in combination with the hot weather, which makes you tired also

Thailand welcomes nearly 6 million foreigners in first 8 weeks of 2024
ikke1959 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Amazing TAT.... 6 million divided by 8 multiply with 52 is 39 million ... and the high season has to come yet... Celebrations for you.....but I don't believe it. Arrivals are not always tourists, but can be Thai people just coming home from a holiday. expats and business men from a holiday or seminar and of course people in transit... -
Will Sethaput meet the fate of BOT governors defying the government?
ikke1959 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Could be but the interest rate is not only for a country it follows the international rates too, and probably every country is following it. -
Thailand’s prime minister unfazed by triple prime minister’s scenario
ikke1959 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
If they really want the country to move forward, they should have give MFP a chance instead of the witch hunt they are doing now on this party and leaders.. But in the land of dinosaurs it will take a very long time before the country even starts to move -
Thailand's Future: What do you think?
ikke1959 replied to FruitPudding's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
If there are no changes coming, Thailand will loose the connection with the world. Bad education that makes people lazy by outdated law of always passing for example, poverty will be getting worse, no freedom of press, speaking, and writing, everything is censured, and with many outdated laws enforced by army and a corrupt police force, double standards for foreigners, it will be a non attractive country anymore. The people should come together and demand changes, but the government divides more and more as they know " divide and rule". But if the people of Thailand work together they are stronger than any force. It is their country and they have to claim it back instead of now being in the hands of incompetent governments and army -
There is no need to help, the people with high debts. A assistance of how to use their money and talk with the creditors try to find solutions for paying back. I worked for a NGO and charitable institution and we helped so people out of their debts. It take a long time, but important is to see how people spend their money and that they have to change that....Everything here seems to be a problem of the Government, but people are responsible for their own deeds

Brake failure causes deadly crash at Yala wedding procession
ikke1959 replied to webfact's topic in Southern Thailand News
There was no brake failure for sure... The bus have stopped several times already with no problems, only when there is an accident it is brake failure, maybe because they are speeding and think that when they stop suddenly they stand still right away. Never heard of braking distance. or people are too tired and react different than when they had enough rest and sleep. Anyway RIP to the deceased and good recovery for the injured. It is always a roulette to drive with a person you hired -
Will Sethaput meet the fate of BOT governors defying the government?
ikke1959 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Of course he want a lower interest rate.. He needs to borrow a lot for his 10k scheme and with the current interest rates it will be difficult and Sethra thinks with a lower rate it is easier to get approval of the senate -

Thailand’s state railway to construct three new double-track routes
ikke1959 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
waaw what a progression 600 km 3 track railway.. It is about time since the 19th century nothing has been done at the railways anymore. Except the high speed line but that is endless building it seems -
Maybe the Government should start to review the outdated labour laws and requirements to get a workpermit. Sometimes people need so much paperwork and certificates and titles that it is almost impossible to get a workpermit. Best example is an English teacher and also for guides. The protection that jobs are forbidden for foreigners for jobs a Thai can do also is ouitdated. We all know that Thai education sometimes lacks the real skills such as English teachers who can conversate with you an have a lower degree than a foreigner needs. Same for guides.. where can you learn French/ or Russian or whatever language here in Thailand as many Thais not even are willing to learn English?

ikke1959 replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
not only for entertainment venues in Pattaya but it should be in fact all over the country and especially also for the temples. The temples with their activities are really producing too much noise, while in fact they should be a shelter for meditation and rest..But with a non enforcement policy and a refusing to change mentality people will gat ear damage and the sounds are only increasing -

Calls for government subsidy on all Bangkok public transport
ikke1959 replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
I personally think that the Thai Government can't subsidy everything. They should invest in modern transportation and if things are too costly replace them. It seems that the Thai Government is responsible for all extra costs.. subsidy for farmers, petrol, hospitals, transportation etc etc .. but the most Thai people are not paying taxes so how on earth can everything being paid than? -
Is that something like the pot and the kettle?? Many Thais abused their visa for overstaying in S Korea and stayed to work there.. Wondering why there are stricter measures now for Thai??? Thailand is doing the same with other countries too

Phuket Tourist Police arrest illegal foreign tour guides
ikke1959 replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
With many requirements for jobs that only can not do it is no wonder that "illegal" guides show up.. Thailand should do something to make things easy as it should be in the 21st century instead of staying behind in the pre WO II era -

Yeah more room revenues but because of more tourists or because the raised the room rates?? Hotels are getting very expensive and that will surely cost Western tourists.. Now they are being welcomed, as for the past years the Chinese were the only important group, now they don't come anymore the focus is again on the Westerns.. but for how long?? Why not focus on Russians and Kazakhs now?? Or as last year Indians and Arabians..Thailand should follow a education in Tourism, it will be good instead of doing things without thinking

Thai businesses fear cost surge due to potential minimum wage hike
ikke1959 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Raising the minimum wages will not have a big impact.. If people can buy the same or more the businesses will benefit from it, but with no salary increases people can buy less and that will hurt more. The greed however of businesses is unbelievable, all around the world thousands profit must be millions and millions must be billions and still nobody is satisfied..
