Thailand Holds Off on 30-Day Visa-Free Change Decision
ikke1959 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Sounds like Shakespeare.. to or not to be that is the question... In Thailand the same.. Today they announce this tomorrow the opposite, than a whole lot of talking and a lot of unrest, a lot of unclearness and than delaying to relive again a few months later... Thailand doesn't dare to change things, conservatism will keep the country back and also investors don't dare to invest.. Because what today is possible/allowed can be changed tomorrow... Look at the re introducing of the arrival card. With a few weeks to go nothing is clear yet, and probably it will be delayed too.. Left hand doesn't know what the right hand does or wants- 136 replies

Despite what he did or did not do, the conditions in Thai jail are terrible, many stories already we have read about it..Thailand pretends that they treat people decently, but the stories out of jail are terrible and I am wondering why Human Rights organizations don't do anything about this. People in prison are still people and being locked up doesn't mean you can mistreat them. And I know police officers do, as I had a foster kid that experienced the same, and the problem is they are not allowed to talk about it, because as they do, it will be more terrible situation for them... And everything is covered up.. look at Joe Ferrari.... and others And Thailand claims to be a Buddhistic country, with alcohol bans on Holy Days, but they could better respect life for every living being...

Thailand's Smile Fades: Nation's Global Happiness Rank Falls
ikke1959 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I am happy to notice that you have a good contact with the Thai people.. Almost everybody is complaining, which was different when I came to live here 20 years ago.. But in my own country happiness is still good according to the same survey. Although many problems with too many refugees and asylum seekers, Black Peet and slavery history, and higher taxes .... It depends I suppose how the Government is dealing with things, but what has the Government done to make people here happy?? A few things? Demonstrators in jail and bail denied.. no vaping allowed( although many do) The party that won the election ..... and surely not to forget reently the 10k wallet scheme that is being delayed and delayed .... and the non working RTP...there is a lot of unhappiness under the Thai people if you speak with them... -

Thaksin's Debt Proposal Stirs Debate as PM Paetongtarn Defends Plan
ikke1959 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It is very bad... I worked for a charitable institution and we were helping people who had debts too. With talking with organizations and businesses we could several times lower the debt if it was paid off immediately..We helped the people unde rthe condition that they paid us back with no interests to help them and beside that they got a kind of coach who went through all their subscription, debts and buyings to prevent that they would fall back in their wrong habit. It worked very well. When rich people are doing the same and take over the debts and get discounts and ask the full or even more interest for the loans people will get in bigger problems. The rich will confiscate everything they can get and the people are left alone with even more than nothing. In the end everything will be of the rich... Bad Idea of the Government. only for own money making pocketfilling. -

Bangkok BTS Disturbance Sparks Debate Over Tourism Conduct
ikke1959 replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
I agree the trains are to short, more carriages would be better, but that means investment and that is a strange word for Thais.. Investment in own pockets yes, foreigners investing yes, but otherwise it is no ...because no plans, conservatism etc -
There is more Thailand than Bangkok, Phuket and Chiang Mai...I live in a rural area and I see what is going on.. just a few moment ago a boy probably P6 is riding a brand new motorcycle.

Foreigner Assaults Thai Man in Road Rage Incident in Pattaya
ikke1959 replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
It is only a part of the whole story... a video made by a Thai but what really happened, and why did the Thai man not made charges. If he was right he would have done it.. Doesn't mean that I approve the behavior of the man, but there is always more in this story. Thai news only tell things in parts and not the reality mostly.. So What happened before on the road..They write that that motorcyclist ran away after the accident, but that doesn't fit with the video -
No need.. I live in the rural area and I see poverty.. and the worst even is that today we heard that employees in Tops here are being paid by day 350 THB.. holiday or day off no payment... In almost all countries they use monthly payment.. Why not in Thailand. pay everybody at least 13k a month working not more than 9 hours a day and with at least 1 day off not included the official holidays...Than still don't earn much but it would do the economy much better than keeping them on 350 THB a day .... Holidays are paid and see what will happen... 70% of the holidays will be cancelled.. also much better for the economy

and that need to be paid for too

Bangkok BTS Disturbance Sparks Debate Over Tourism Conduct
ikke1959 replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
The people of Thailand are not know for speaking softly.. The scream to eachother as in my opinion they all have eardrum damage of the loudly music and sounds everywhere around in Thailand.. Try to find a silent spot, almost impossible.. even in a restaurant you can't conversate in a normal way as mostly they have a live band with too much bass and a singer who can't sing but thinks the louder I sing the better it better it is.. or they play Thai music the appetite is over quickly and you want to finish your meal to get out of the noise. Surely some tourists make noise too but don't forget that there are 70 million Thais living in Thailand and only a few foreigners/tourists- 26 replies

If you look around there is not so much poverty as they claim.. Everybody has work, drives in n ice cars, with many holidays, and crackdown on foreign workers, which are already very difficult to find as work permits and the labour protection prevents people to come and work. and be fair.. there are teachers or classroom assistents who have to work for 8000 THB a month.. No wonder they hardly can get anybody. Last month there was a job available for a foreign teacher, who had to be fully classified and work in a school for 5000 THB a month.. Foreigners will line up for jobs like this. Anyway.. the companies don't want to pay more because of the profit, but with less income and rising prices people can't buy much and the companies are compensating it with higher prices as their profit is most important and people buy less and and so everything is going down and down... The greed will destroy

Efforts to Curb Youth E-Cigarette Use Warn Teachers of Legal Action
ikke1959 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I am wondering which teacher is promoting using e cigarettes, drugs and alcohol to the students. On the other hand teacher have the duty to inform kids about the dangers of smoking, drinking and drugs and gambling. But with the medieval education program, this kind of teaching is not done, same as education about sex. But the kids need to know and want to know and with no information they go and look for themselves, secretly and that is much worse. But the Government is chasing the e-cigarettes, but I don't read anything about the normal cigarettes which are much unhealthier, and I know that many teacher are smoking e cigarettes too.. But also policemen, military, government officials... So the Government is shouting things and they are not aware what is going on in the country -
Thailand Yet to Finalise Policy on Taxing Expats’ Overseas Income
ikke1959 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Let the netizens all fill in the tax forms first.... Most don't pay any tax but can allow expensive cars, holidays, shopping for luxury goods.. Even the youth drive in BMW's and Mercedes... But nobody knows where the money come from. Some people as we could read in the past year had millions in the bank, several houses, and the Revenue department did not know that.. I think there is much more to gain from the netizens, than from the few foreigners.. There will be less and less year after year..Many already are planning to leave or left already.- 270 replies

Angry Man Shoots Monk’s Helper After Argument Over Noise
ikke1959 replied to Georgealbert's topic in Central Thailand News
FRiday evening there was a party somewhere and at 22.30 suddenly they had to turn on the music very loudly... I think the party was a few km from my home, but was clearly to hear when we went to bed.. That is not the first time but this kind of extreme loud music is played in temples and probably the same person who is organizing the parties... I don't understand that people accept this, but in this story it is the the same.. You can ask to silence but Thai people don't care and feel attacked and shoot you... But the RTPO and justice are doing nothing, the police claims they have the right to party and make music and the judges are the same.. But there is a law that limit the number of Db, but nobody follows that, and because of the threating people keep quiet, but I understand very well that one day there will be someone who will shoot this organizer... And I don't even talk about the eardrum damages that are being done.. It is just torture to go to a party.. I never go, and I tell everyone I can hear it in my house so need to go
