  1. "NONTHABURI, April 5 (TNA) – Inflation ran at 5.73% in March, the highest in 13 years, because the Russia-Ukraine war is raising energy prices" This is more false than true. If the war caused energy prices to rise, then why did they start rising from the time Biden cancelled the Keystone pipeline on about his first day in office, over a year before Russia invaded Ukraine? Might there be other factors at play apart from the Ukraine/Russia skirmish?
  2. Flying this in a couple months time. Certainly hope to have a menu by then, and also hope to not have to wear a mask as was the case when I made a couple of biz class flights on the same route with an Arab airline. After seeing the garbage they served this reviewer as food, think I will bring a packed lunch along. Not exactly what I was hoping for at B200k a ticket.
  3. About 80 to the USD. Which is almost what it was before the scuffle started. At its worst it was up around 140. Why has it fallen back? If it was a sign Putin was losing the war when the Rouble tanked , is it now a sign he is not losing?
  4. Judging by the USD/Rouble exchange rate it appears the Russians are winning this. Judging by the western daily news the Russians are losing badly. Times like this I wish the western media still had credibility. It would be nice to believe things are not working out as Putin hoped, but without a credible media we just have no way knowing. I stopped paying attention to this situation because there is absolutely no way to know what is going on.
  5. Looks like a classic case of workplace violence to me. Let us see if this man of the left at a gathering of the elite left will be held responsible under the law, or if we will be treated to more double standards. That he wasn't immediately kicked out and even was awarded some oscar suggests the latter. No surprise.
  6. Sorry to hear your situation. First thing to do, and most important. Calm down, get your breathing under control. Making threats and getting emotional will worsen your situation immeasurably. Step 2, as pointed out above. Contact the police and report your passports lost. They will give some documents and your embassy will use them to start issuance of new passports. It is a frequent occurrence and no eyebrows will be raised at any stage. I had mine stolen years ago from a hotel safe (the hotel claimed the whole safe was stolen and pointed to a huge hole in the wall where it used to be!) and all replaced easily after the initial shock and panic wore off. Good luck with it, and pls keep us updated.
  7. It should be a concern to everyone that she claimed to know what a woman is you need to be a biologist. Could she be relied on to protect women's rights if such a case came before the supreme court? Is Biden a biologist to know he hired the black woman he promised his voters? "In the 13th hour of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson's confirmation hearing Tuesday, Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) asked the Supreme Court nominee: “Can you provide a definition for the word ‘woman’?” Jackson, appearing confused, responded, "I’m not a biologist.” https://www.usatoday.com/story/life/health-wellness/2022/03/24/marsha-blackburn-asked-ketanji-jackson-define-woman-science/7152439001/ I wonder whether participants here think she is very dumb or is she dishonest? hmmm. I can't imagine a more unsuitable candidate, and that's without even going into her dreadful record of appearing to treat minor attracted persons as the victim.
  8. As good a reason as any to vote for someone. The only difference between the Shinawatra controlled governments and the post coup government was that Thaksin at least won an election. To my eternal shame I supported the coup, surely the goal was to once and for all root out and crush corruption that keeps Thailand a 3rd world country. Oh how I was wrong.
  9. You infer that Republicans were concerned about Biden's pick because she is black. That is flat out wrong. Republicans (and every single solitary person with a sense of fair play and justice) were concerned because only black people with a cervix were considered for the role. This means that every male or non-black person was excluded for the job solely on the basis of their gender and skin color. That is wrong. That is divisive. That is a disgrace. President Biden pledged on the campaign trail — and, with Justice Stephen G. Breyer’s pending retirement, recently confirmed — that he would choose “the first Black woman ever nominated to the United States Supreme Court.” Many Republicans have been quick to decry that promise as divisive or discriminatory, arguing that a nominee’s race or gender should not play a role in Biden’s selection process. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/02/15/biden-supreme-court-nominee-black/ Sounds like fair comments. Unlike when the last Presidents picks were being discussed by the Democrats, who called one (without a shred of evidence) a gang rapist, and the other a religious nutcase. Despicable behavior I'm sure we all agree, and in no way comparable to the civilized way the GOP conducted themselves concerning Biden's divisive pick. https://time.com/5407183/brett-kavanaugh-julie-swetnick-testimony/
  10. Sorry to interrupt your off topic rant against white people, but Miya Ponsetto is a mulatto (just like Duchess of Sussex who identifies as being black). To give an example of white privilege by using a black person - well I think you can see the folly in play here. It is disheartening(but not entirely surprising) to see Smollett's hoax hate crime being used as a cudgel to bash the victims of his heinous and sustained act.
  11. Conservative Americans are the victims. We were all branded as racists and bigots, you will remember the hoax was described by many prominent leftists as a symptom of the toxic culture the MAGA movement encapsulated. We were censored and silenced for questioning whether his story was credible. Such an outrage were these terrible white MAGA country representatives. Apart from it was fake. Other victims of Smollett's hoax would be actual victims of race hate. " "The dangerous lies spewing from the right wing is killing & hurting our people. Thinking of you @JussieSmollett , and my LGBTQ neighbors." Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib https://www.newsweek.com/democrats-tweets-supporting-jussie-smollett-still-live-despite-guilty-verdict-1658058 You would imagine if the USA is really a hotbed of anti black and gay violence that Mr Smollett would not have had to pay people to oppress him.
  12. I would rather see awards being given to those that spend their lives helping street animals. These people are true angels. Compared to people that bludge freebies while parroting and putting +ve spin on official govt narratives and promoting private enterprises. I believe his reward has already been given - normally with copious amounts of free large Changs if memory serves.
  13. Thank you for having the wisdom and grace to respect others whose opinion differs from your own.
  14. We did the same, paid thousands a month for years for True satellite TV. Wife these days uses AIS play which has pretty much the same channels as True Gold did apart from it's free. She had to register or something but the app is free and works very well. Also there is LOOX another Thai TV streaming app but it used to freeze a lot so AIS play works better for us.
  15. Why hypocrisy? People that drive electric cars are essentially driving fossil fuel powered cars, as electricity has to be generated. Sounds funny to think a Tesla could effectively be a coal powered car. Until the technology is invented to make cars actually "green" this billionaires son may as well drive a Porsche. The whole green car industry is at present an interesting exercise in virtue signalling and perception management. Hope this lad he crashed into will be OK, but judging by this story the impact sounds like a high speed crash. Not expecting any justice to be served.
  16. I'm wondering if those bandying around the "nukes" word would consider it fair and proportional. Maybe Orlando and Houston for St.Petersburg and Moscow? Limited tactical nuking. It might finally bring people to the table. Maybe they accept their black is not 100% black. Their white is not 100% white. Or is the position so absolutely entrenched that they should just empty out the missile silos at once? Of course, it would be in the world's interest if westerners could turn off the tv and think for themselves for 5 minutes. Did Putin just wake up one morning and say "think i'll invade the Ukraine - it'll be fun" because I can assure you this is not how it happened. Complicated history, repeated provocation, incompetent and insincere negotiation, years long hate campaign blaming Putin for a certain pant-suited lady not achieving her divine rights, plus an epic demonstration of military cowardice and stupidity a few months back led by someone the word "feeble" doesn't do justice too. Lots of ingredients. Can they bake something edible?
  17. Sounds about right, it was a few years ago hard to remember the figures we discussed. I do remember there was no discount possible on the 500k plan must have been a minimum commission.
  18. Expecting double standards to pass un-noticed is a no go. Not on my watch. Had the US, UK and other western nations not have a history of invading sovereign nations willy-nilly you might have a point. Now, back to reality. Let's get some competent negotiator to sit down with Putin's crew and thrash out a deal and get back to some semblance of normality.
  19. As Mr.Derek said. These demands are absolutely reasonable. Instead of escalating to all out nuclear war as many here seem to want, I would suggest agreeing on pretty much what Russia is demanding here is the sensible exit from this war. After all, western nations do not need their cruise missiles on former Soviet state soil. They can fire them from subs or from the other side of the world if they decide to end all life on earth. Also we are told NATO has no aggressive expansionary dreams ( i was mocked for claiming they did have - so I've been corrected there) so not including new nations should be no problem for the west. Then Russia wants the predominantly Russian populated breakaway regions to be given special status. Again no big deal. Other than the MSM hysterically claiming this is 100% Putins fault and no debate possible, this seems a very simple international spat to settle. A competent US government could thrash out a deal in a few minutes. I can not understand why Russia's demands are not being discussed more, after all, everyone claims they do not want bloodshed.
  20. There could be one reason to use an agent. A friend has one of those tour shops that also is an agent for thai elite card. He told me exactly how much commission he makes when selling the 1m baht plan. He said if I bought it with him we could split the commission, so it did make the card quite a lot cheaper.
  21. Aggressive, sustained and successful expansionary actions by NATO?
  22. So long as the hitman doesn't honk his horn or engage in any freedom minded "wrong-think". It would be a shame if gofundme misappropriated the funds raised and gave it to a charity of their own choosing. I find it truly worrying that otherwise intelligent posters have a complete black/white view on this situation. Putin = 100% bad. The west/Ukraine = 100% good. Having swallowed their respective countries propaganda they lose the ability to consider that maybe this conflict is the fault of all parties. Both sides use propaganda. Time people started thinking for themselves, and recognize finding a solution and making some sacrifices is a better idea than calling for assassinations of leaders and other blinkered actions that will inevitable end up in a nuclear war after each side paints themselves into a corner.
  23. The news feed feels overwhelming at times. As if things couldn't get worse, reports that a nuclear power station is on fire certainly up the catastrophe factor. It just seems so incredible to me that only 2 years ago the worlds biggest headline was some overweight guy fed a few fish a bit fast in Japan. Oh how I wish we were back in those halcyon days.
  24. None of us know for sure what will happen in the future. I well remember a few years ago the same was said of kratom- it will NEVER be legalized and of course today it is absolutely legal. What is interesting, is when kratom had technically been decriminalized and taken off the narcotic list and was in the same grey area legally as marijuana is now, well police stopped busting kratom chewers. Men would walk around with leaves in their shirt pocket. Big sellers were busted as before but the end user was allowed to do his thing. I wonder if the same applies now to cannabis? I never hear anyone getting busted any more, and in my neighborhood a coffeeshop/bar sells high quality buds of several kinds which are openly sold in fancy bags and named weighed and labelled and you order it off a menu. Prices start 500B/g. Signs are outside the shop advertising the service. This is about 50m from a police station. Interesting times.
