  1. Had 1st AZ jab at MedPark in BKK a couple months ago, and have appointment for the 2nd jab at end of this month at MedPark. But a friend told me no need to drive to BKK (I live in Pak Thong Chai) I should be able to get that 2nd jab at a walk in vax center in Korat. So does anyone know if I could walk in anywhere (Central Korat?) and get another jab of AZ (I don't want Pfizer, don't want to mix up) Any info for me?
  2. I had Redmi Note 7, great phone, no issues at all, terrific camera, yes it came with some junk stuff but I deleted the junk and disabled a couple things, very good phone. I recently gave it to my wife as her old phone was so slow, and I bought a new Redmi Note 10. Again, excellent phone for the price - 6000Bt. The camera is so good I no longer use my Sony or Fuji cameras. I have none of the issues some people have discussed here. I highly recommend Redmi Notes. Latest is the 11 with 5G.
  3. Well they can buy beer/wine in Lotus or 7-11 and drink in their rooms. That's a real groovy holiday...insurance/tests, possibilities of false positives and you get locked up for 2 weeks, then quarantine when you arrive back home. All that hassle just to see some temples and knock back a few cans of Leo in your room?
  4. Not at all. One, I think he was Russian, was walking towards me and when he had nearly reached me he suddenly cut across in front of me and banged into me. Another, I think German, was walking behind me and suddenly he was alongside me shouting that I wasn't walking in a straight line. Perhaps I had moved while I was walking to avoid stepping into dogsh*t or a hole in the footpath... can't remember now.
  5. I have a couple of times, and it was in the day, nothing to do with drunks in bars at night. Agro farang having a go at me in the street as I was walking home from shopping at Big C. I'm in my early 70s and know that getting into street fights is not a wise thing at my age, so both times I just shut up and kept walking. To me this is one of the worst aspects of getting into old age because if I was still in my 30s-40s-50s I would have held my ground and said...yeah mutha fuka, have a go.
  6. Little macho men, they have a 100cc plastic moped and they make it as noisy as possible and pretend they're riding a Harley-Davidson.
  7. That was the stage I had reached too, I just couldn't put up any longer with all their nonsense all year round, so we were splitting our time between Aust & Thai. It was very doable with cheap AA flights, and we own homes in both countries. Wonderful lifestyle, summers in Aust, then back here at the start of Aust winter, then back again to Aust for Xmas/NY. Plus we had stopover trips on the way, like a week in KL/Malacca. Then you know what happened. And I've been here again for the past 19 months.
  8. Beats me why anyone wouldn't eagerly take the vaccine. If someone refuses for medical reasons - they have past severe reactions to vaccines, ok I get it. But otherwise???? I live 250km from BKK. I drove my car to a BKK hospital got vax and drove home. In 3 weeks time I'll do it again for my 2nd jab. So I traveled 1000 kms to get fully vaxed.
  9. PIs, Malaysia, Cambodia. Reason being I'd prefer to stay in SEA. I like Malaysia, could easily settle in a town like Malacca. Cambodia - Kampot/Kep, haven't been to either place but from what I know about them I think they would suit me well. PIs great beer, lots of beaches/islands, no language barrier.
  10. Same in Australia, you'd be arrested and charged. You'd end up before a judge for him/her to decide.
  11. I had 1 AZ at Medpark 7 weeks ago, my 2nd jab appointment is in 5 weeks. Some of my friends have asked for and received the 2nd jab earlier, after 6-8 weeks, but everything I've read indicates that waiting the full 12 weeks gives optimum protection with AZ. So I'll be fully vaxed with AZ late Oct. I guess about 5-6 months later, around March/April 2022, I'll be considering a Pfizer or Moderna booster.
  12. If/when this pandemic ends and mass tourism returns to Thailand, there'll be an almighty eruption of greed, jacking up prices, fleecing the foreigners. It'll get ugly.
  13. When you see them discussing tourist projections it's always only in terms of anticipated income, anticipated amounts spent per head. They never seem to take into account that these tourists are human beings that should be treated kindly and given protection from the ever increasing local criminal elements, and given medical treatment when required without patting their hands together with glee and seeing an ill or injured foreigner as someone to be financially gutted.
  14. Interesting point. I have dual citizenship & 2 PPs....UK & Aussie. I'm currently in Thailand on my UK. Already had 1 jab of AZ and booked to get 2nd Jab in Oct. Then I'll have my covid cert from MedPark stating that Mr xxxxxxxxxx UK citizen PP xxxxxx is fully vaxed, so if I go back to Australia, then return to Thailand on my Australia PP. Thais will not only see a different PP number but a totally different nationality.
  15. I've been spending quite a bit of time in KK recently. I rented a studio apartment at 185 Residence. It's right next to the Bueng Nakorn lake, so very central, with plenty of restaurants & minimarts all around, plus the lake is nice for morning/evening walks. https://185resiedence.wixsite.com/185residence I'm paying 8500 bt a month, plus whatever my elect/water comes to. There's a fair sized bedroom with a small lounge area...sofa & TV, then a little kitchen area and small balcony. Very nice sunset views from the bedroom window. There's also the Piman Lakeside Condos a bit further up the road, but they're asking 15,000 bt a month for 1 bedroom apartments. Too much for me. I don't know about transportation links as I have my own car.
  16. 45 weeks, they're mad, that's almost a year, so at the most deadliest stage of the pandemic so far, as Delta variant is exploding around the world, they suggest we spend the best part of the coming year only partially vaccinated.
  17. Well OP did say "Myself, and my thai girlfriend...have all been vaccinated at the BCC facility at Bangrak Hospital...They say the AZ vaccine is available to all nationalities, and all ages."
  18. I sent an email to them a week ago, asking for a vaccination for my Thai wife. Never got a reply. Yet others report here they got prompt replies. So they seem to have a strange sort of system of who they accept. Cambodian servants, some Thai wife/partners...but they're definitely not offering vaccines to all.
  19. The vid is still on FB, I just watched it.....well, it's murder in police custody, just like the deaths of Australian aboriginals in police custody. As far as I'm concerned every one of those police in the vid should be charged with murder....but they won't. Maybe a rap across the knuckles, one or two may be transferred. The dumb part of course is why film these sorts of things and post them on the internet?
  20. RIP Charlie. I got to see him play live twice, in 1965 & 1972.
  21. Yesterday I spoke with the Thai doctor in charge of vaccinations at Central Khon Kaen. I asked the doctor which vaccine and she replied following the directive from the Thai public health they are giving 1st jab sinovac and 2nd jab AZ. So if they are giving Pfizer at Central Korat today you guys are in luck.
  22. Australia's PM was on TV today saying we can't beat covid (Delta) we can't eradicate it, so we just have to get on with life and live the best we can with it. The best defense we have is vaccination plus booster shots for new variants if/when they come along. So anyone who has been fully vaccinated and has a negative PCR test within the past 72 hours should be allowed to travel and enter countries with quarantine. The only chance Thailand has of regaining some of it's lost tourism industry is to accept this line of thought.
  23. Get a visa agent to do it. Mine also expires in 2022, I already spoke with Darren at Key Visa, and for a reasonable charge he'll take care of everything, and give me a brand new UK PP with all the Thai imm/visa transfer taken care of, so I don't have to stuff around doing anything. Of course I could save a few thousand baht and do it all myself, and have a bunch of headaches. Up to you. Personally I prefer to pay a bit extra and have a professional, who knows the entire process inside out, take care of it.
