The seat needs moving in 3 directions. 2 of them need changing almost full travel (back and down) before I can even get in the car, so if it's p$ssing down with rain I get wet. The movement is electronic and the travel is pretty slow, so it takes a good 30 seconds plus. On a $65k car that's full of electronics, memory seats aren't a big ask. I had them on other cars 20 years ago. Did you get out of the wrong side of bed?

Mrs Woof is a smurf (4 feet 12 in heels). She finds the Fortuner fine to drive. Personally I find it a little awkward to get into because of the seat bolsters. Lack of memory seat function (position of the driving seat between me and the Mrs is rather different to say the least) is one of my biggest moans though. Forever having to manually (electronic, but still manual) change the seat position, mirrors etc.

At the point where Earth becomes too hot to support human life, whether it was caused by man or not is kind of immaterial. You'd likely need to be blind/deaf and/or stupid to believe that there is not an upward trend. If we can do something to slow or stop that trend without giving up everything that makes our lives tolerable would seem reasonable, likely sensible and maybe mandatory at some point. I cannot see it happening though. As a species, we are far too self centered and short-sighted, me included.

Not perfect, but it can only last a maximum of 4 years. That's probably better than 4 general elections in the same time period.

Do you have any real experience of this ever happening and leading to someone too sick to fulfill the requirements of getting a visa extension but still being held in the IDC? Age alone isn't a reason for not being held in IDC. Was this 76yo man incapacitated to the point of not being able to do what he should have done? I can't think of too many countries where that isn't the same.

It's not difficult to avoid an overstay that is likely to get your held in the IDC. Even if you were incapacitated in hospital and unable to do anything about your visa requirements for a significant period of time, that scenario is unlikely to result in your visiting the IDC. What point are your actually trying to make? Prepare for something that will not happen unless you are a muppet? Worry about something just for the sake of worrying?

If you're using Windows, the built in Sticky Notes will do. You can change the colour to white. You can add it to start up items too.

Shame about subtitles. Dubbing is much better IMHO.

I've heard that the movie selection is mostly Thai, and way out of date compared to the cinema. They only started showing Top Gun Maverick this month and it was in Thai subtitles with the English soundtrack dubbed out. Apparently the curtains don't fully block out the early morning sun, so that would be a good time to get up and look out over the lawns. As for meals, there are usually only 2 choices, meat or fish. Soy sauce available but no ketchup. The charging points are only low power. Takes almost a day for most of the inmates to fully charge their phones. Laundry service is not what it used to be though. Shame..

There I have to disagree. Science has brought us things that could never have been imagined beforehand. The atomic bomb being a good example (discounting it's potential evil use). Imagine someone who had only ever seen the power of a bow and arrow then seeing the power of an atomic bomb. Much of what science has discovered in the last 30 years would have been deemed magical just a few decades earlier. Science might not ever explain the universe. We might not be around long enough as a race to find out, but we can't say any of that for absolute certainty. No theory is a fairy tale. I think you might have meant hypothesis?

Understood. I make the distinction because some might call whatever caused the universe to exist "God", if there was such a thing and whether it can be explained by science or not. If an when we gain that knowledge then I'd happily believe in it, whatever it's called. By religious god I mean the god of the bible, or the Quran etc. I'd also lump in the gods of the ancients - Thor etc. I'll call them the fairytale gods for want of a better term.

I counted about 7 in the list that had a specified birth date after 1972. Didn't touch the other lists. I would think that the number of "super smart" (how do you actually define super smart?) people that are atheists has been on the increase for generations. Then the term god needs defining further. If their god provides intelligent design, has consciousness or created man in "his" image then I'd happily put them all in the same asylum, religious or not.

There aren't too many on that list born in the last 50 years. I think it's ridiculous to say that all super smart people are atheists. However, if I were a betting man (which I am) and if there was any way of coming up with the real numbers (which there isn't) then I would lay a large stake on the fact that the vast majority of super smart people, who do not live in a territory where a fixed religion is almost compulsory (the USA only just escapes that label), absolutely do not believe in a religious god.

Absolutely not. However there have been several comments in this thread (not from you that I recall) that sure do show intolerance and probably show a deep rooted hatred.

Difficult to give a black and white answer. If they've gone through male puberty then it is likely they will have an advantage in many sports because of a larger frame. Basketball would be a good example where this would give an unfair advantage, but many other sports too.
