Image is important in a presidential election. And, many here still recall what happened to Nixon, when he stood on stage, next to JFK, for a presidential debate. And now, is history repeating itself, yet again? Here is a nice image for you.... And, what about the White House? Is she nothing more than the "hired help", there too? Nixon learned the hard way that looks matter. Harris seems about to learn the same lesson. Dear Folks, This morning, I decided that I might need a security camera, and so I went on Amazon USA, and I clicked on FOUR of THESE: https://www.amazon.com/Tapo-cameras-for-home-security/dp/B0CH45HPZT?ascsubtag=5e6180ea7ae91d00080357ef&tag=w050b-20&th=1 Now, my question is: Was I too hasty? Normally, I do a lot more research before making any purchase, whatsoever. But this morning, I was feeling a bit more frisky and spontaneous, and so I sort of clicked on it almost without thought. Did I make a mistake in my choice? Should I have chosen something available locally in Thailand, instead? I didn't even check for resolution, or focal length of the lens, etc....something which I would normally do. But I guess I was motivated by the red warning sign on Amazon telling me that something will END in about Five Hours...as if...maybe... It might be the End of The World, in Five Hours.... Which must be some marketing strategy of Amazon, or the seller, IDK. Also, why am I in such a rush, anyway, to buy security cameras. Mostly, it boils down to my fear of GHOSTS. You see, I fear that my house might have some form of ghosts visiting my house when I am not vigilant. I am not afraid of thieves nor succubi...and never have been while living in Thailand. It's just the recent visitation of ghosts that now has me feeling anxious and unsettled. For Example: I have this shrine outside near my gate. And this is something common in Thailand, as we all know. However, the problem with my shrine is that the colored liquids in the jars, bottles and bowls sitting on the shrine sometimes become full, seemingly all on their own. How can this be? I mean, this is not like Jesus and the Wine occurrence, is it? No! And this is not being caused by the recent rains we are having here, and not the flooding, either. I already thought of that. The filling of the containers on my shrine happens even when there is no rain. Therefore, I can only attribute this strange happening to ghosts. Ghosts, or it might be someone is climbing the walls around my house. Therefore, if it is merely mere mortals climbing my walls, then I must find out which mortals are doing this. And I must try to discover intent. As we all know, sometimes an innocent behavior can become a problematic behavior. And so it is with thievery. It might go like this: a. The budding thief climbs the walls to just fill the shrine containers. b. Next, he decides to wander about, just out of innocent curiosity. c. And, then, he checks to see that my doors are locked, before wandering inside the house. d. Finally, my new phone cannot be found where I left it. e. I am not saying anything like this will happen, and just that ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN in Thailand, or anywhere. So, in case you were wondering... I am installing security cams to catch the ghost which fills the containers on my shrine...a shrine which was put here to protect my house, and not to attract ghosts. In Thailand, as you realize, we all believe in ghosts. If we do not, then this causes problems. In conclusion: Should I cancel this order from Amazon? HK plugs are really quite superior. I have used them for decades. Also, the HK plugs have even improved over the years.

Some people think that God has already chosen Trump to be the winning candidate November 5th. And, Franklin Graham certainly thinks so. Franklin has now told us that Trump is God's chosen one. After 45 years in Asia, and over a decade in Thailand...honestly speaking... I have yet to be lonely. Not even for an hour. This is actually true. Asia is just, for me, not a lonely place, I guess.

Dear Friends, I have always wondered why Hong Kong delivers 220 volts from wall outlets, while Japan delivers only 100 volts. At first, I thought that Life in Hong Kong must be cheaper than Life in Japan. And now, upon further reflection, I still believe that this is true. But what about you? Do you care more about safety or efficiency? Personally, I really enjoy using a 3000 watt water kettle so that I can have hot water for my Sichuan Green Tea, almost instantaneously. And, for me, a premature death is not that significant, compared to the pleasure I derive from Hot Tea Water, on demand. Still, others may not feel as do I. So, what about you? Is the saved time making tea able to compensate you for a potentially shorter lifespan? Oh, by the way, I found this interesting/somewhat-humorous, yet accurate, comment by James about this very question: Which is safer, 110 volt outlets or 220 (HK Type) outlets. These days, even walking, I am ten-times more cautious, and try to always remain vigilant listening for, and turning to look at, cars/trucks approaching from behind, as I travel down the left side of the road, facing oncoming traffic. It's a nightmare, and rather scary, to think about being hit from behind either by a drunk, or by some nutcase driving and texting, or just by some distracted driver. I will not say that this is something unique to Thailand. I think I would be even more fearful about walking in the USA on roads without "sidewalks", as they call them there. How do I know? You should listen to one of Stephen King's scariest horror stories.... If you wanna know.... So, it can happen here, just as it can happen there.

Selling a widget for less than the cost of manufacture is probably not a winning long-term strategy, even, as you say, if sales volume continues to increase.

I forgot to mention in the original post one important aspect of this question: Being a Futurist, it seems almost inevitable that the ongoing trend of radically altering one's appearance will continue into the next few decades. These days, few young people seem entirely satisfied with what the The Good Lord originally gave them. Anyone strolling in Modern Manhattan will see thousands on the street showing off a rainbow of hair colors, shiny gold and silver piercings, and teeth filed to sharp points. Body Image for the modern and hip has already changed, and it is now acceptable to EXPRESS YOURSELF. I recall that Eric Burdon, another famous Futurist, first sang about this phenomenon back in 1970: He said... "I was taken to a place The hall of the mountain kings I stood high by the mountain tops Naked to the world In front of Every kind of girl" And then he said.... "There was long ones, tall ones, short ones, brown ones Black ones, round ones, big ones, crazy ones Out of the middle, came a lady She whispered in my ear Something crazy" He knew....HE REALLY KNEW!!!! He knew what most of us did not, back then at the close of the 60s. And he predicted girls like this: Just listen in case you did not know: You might think that you, EVEN YOU, are not already habituating to the exciting sights of multicolored people you now see everyday, and their numbers are increasing almost exponentially. But you would be wrong. The normalizing of these new color experiences will get to you, too. And, someday soon, you will be less than satisfied and fulfilled without a taste of a woman who appears a bit more exotic than the norm, and the norm is now way out-of-sight! Outta Sight, Man! So this is the reason for this Topic. Just to get you guys thinking about what colors you might wish to try, next time. And we do not need to limit ourselves to traditional skin-tones of the past century, either. The sky is the limit? No, there IS NO limit !!! The year was 2013, sometime around June/July, that the inundation began. Why are the Chinese coming here? They come here to buy a house, educate their children, and live here, making places like Chiang Mai their home. Many of these have a final goal in mind, though, which is to educate their children in an international school in Thailand, and then leave as soon as possible for places like....The USA, maybe Japan, and possibly the UK. Most of the Chinese have much more money than is needed to live in Thailand. And they want to buy the best environment for their family and children, most likely somewhere OTHER than Thailand. Thailand is just a steppingstone to better lives elsewhere.
