This is the point. Most software companies are NO LONGER selling their software license of use. Instead, they are switching to a monthly subscription. This is the problem. They think they can get more money and avoid piracy by using this business model. However, what they are really doing is driving us all to OPEN-SOURCE software. Linux....FOREVER......!!! The more users who shift to Linux, the better for the Open-Source movement. We will get there...but.... It might still require another decade. OF COURSE: We users of Open-Source Software are still very willing to pay for the software. But, we are not willing to pay for a subscription to the software.

Yes. As we are finding out, rather quickly, this seems to be the new business model. I may be mistaken, however....I am very satisfied paying a very minimal amount for over 5 TBytes of storage, which has proved to be reliable. So, I do not want to imply that ALL subscriptions are corrosive. I will keep Google One. But, as for any others..... I have cancelled....including the monthly payments I was making for a website. Instead, one can use a free service, maybe, such as GitHub....or something else.... The only point I was making is that the new pervasive shift towards subscriptions instead of buying something....is.... The answer to the prayers of companies wishing to suck money on a monthly basis. Why would one acquiesce and fall into this trap....unless....one were also a buyer of lottery tickets? Only a fool would.....probably....if a fool believes what YT tells them to believe..... What a fool believes....5555555555555555555555555555555555

Just say NO....to..... Subscriptions. Don't even click on them.....ever. This is a Public Service Announcement from Gamma. No need to thank me...because... I have your best interests at heart. Please don't fall into the trap..... Note: My YT is now completely BLOCKED....hahahaha..... They want me to pay for YT.... But, I will NEVER do so. So, this is why I was unable to upload the link to this important message from Nancy Reagan. I love her so. Just say NO....

But, whose fault is this strange subscription-mentality....anyway? Of course: It is the fault of LITTLE BUSH: Never subscribe to NOTHING.....I tell you. Buy your expensive camera lenses...and this is a great thing to do....ie.....spend your money wisely. BUT, do not through your pearls before the SWINE and scammers that try to sell you subscriptions. ============= By the way: Any new good images of beautiful birds? Two days ago....some really big and tall white bird landed in my yard..... Such a beauty. Had very long legs. Plucked a very large worm or lizard out of my yard, and gulped it down. Such a sight... I almost cried with delight! These are the things that make life worth living....and not.... Subscriptions, which are nothing more than an albatross around the necks of every man, woman, and child....on... Planet Earth. GodDamn....The Pusher.

Dear Folks, I guess you know, if you are old enough to know, that.....just a few years ago..... One could buy software, and that would be that. One could use the software without any need to pay, and pay. But, things have recently changed. The market has become saturated. And, these days, most companies have turned to the "subscription business model" in order to compensate. I guess you also know that....once you subscribe to just about ANYTHING...then....companies make it almost impossible to cancel a subscription. Or, sometimes they increase the charges on monthly subscriptions without one's express permission....just because.... This permission was granted when you signed up for the subscription....and just because one forgot to read the very fine print in the agreement. Welcome to the new Mafia style "subscription business model". What are your thoughts? Would you, these days, dare to subscribe to any service, or software? If you would, then are you a RISK-SEEKING personality Type? In my view, during this new age of scamming by major corporations, this new "subscription business model" is basically rather corrosive to society, in general. This model teaches our youth that this kind of thing is acceptable, when it is not. So then, I just wonder: Are you OK with signing for a subscription? Or.... Would you now not even consider subscribing to almost anything? I once subscribed to The New Yorker. And I was pleased with my subscription. I got good value for my money. These days, I would never subscribe to any products from Microsoft, for example, such as Office. These guys are now seeking a monthly payment to use their software products. I say: Go Flog Yourselves..... I just wonder how much more BRAZEN these Huge Corporations will become before..... Their House of Cards.... Comes completely tumbling down? Best regards, Gamma Note: By the way, I have heard tell, from my Chinese friends, several horror stories of people in China being compelled to actually cancel their credit cards....just in order to get rid of a monthly subscription for which they found no other way to cancel. They contacted the company charging them, month by month, attempting to cancel their subscription, but found that there was no "button" to click to easily cancel. Their only recourse was to completely cancel their credit card. Note2: I have stopped all my subscriptions, other than Google One, which i am grateful for. Google One is good, and one can cancel at anytime. Also good service. However, most other subscriptions, for software provided for a monthly fee...is a ripoff to me. These guys remind me of.... THE PUSHER MAN.....

Dear Folks, I think I may have just been banned from viewing YT Vids. Do I care? Do you care? I have lived for many a good year, without YT....Garbage. Does Google really think that I would pay to watch YT? Maybe they do. But, then, they need to think again, because... I WILL NOT PAY to watch YT, even when i will not pay to subscribe to the NYT. No way will I pay to watch YT garbage. And you? Will you? I can get good books, for free...and..... I would like to THANK Google for not allowing me to watch YT. Nothing could be better for my mental health, in fact. If I am blocked from watching YT, then I just might become a much more productive person. Sure, it might "hurt" for one or two days, while I adjust to the new status quo. But, after that..... Google's YT can go FLOG itself, for all I care. I am OUT of THERE. Thank you Google, for putting the Kibosh on my YT viewing. I cannot thank you enough!!!!! Best regards, Gamma Note: Maybe, by not watching YT, then I will have more time for some more-useful pursuit, such as posting Topics on TV..... Who knows? Note2: Now that I have been blocked from YT, I guess I will no longer be able to add interesting and pertinent Music Videos to TV with my comments. This is just one more benefit. Google....go Flog Yourselves.....hahahaha NOTE3: LIFE After YouTube.....How will you spend your time, in order to become more productive, and less depressed...After you STOP watching inane vids sent to you by the YouTube AI? What is your plan? Do you recall how much happier you were before the advent of silly vids from YT? Now is the time to.... TAKE BACK YOUR LIFE....and to get rid of YT. Google is trying to encourage consumers to PAY for this GARBAGE. Don't do it. Are we Men or Mice? Speak for yourselves! =================== =================== I think that this Topic of mine is one of the few that should be least be classified as a joke. In fact, for many years, I have felt quite guilty about wasting so many minutes watching Cat Videos. I am thankful to Google for now showing me the error of my ways. There are many good books to read. And, there is a veritable TON of good information on the internet to read....for free, and info that is less damaging than YT vids. I would not wish my children, if I had children, to spend more than a minute per day on YT. Who needs this damaging YT drug in our lives, anyway? I am old enough to know that YT is a disgusting insidious blight on the younger generation. Thankfully, I grew up and became old before YT rose above the horizon. Google YT: Go Flog Yourselves! ====================== In my view, Google's YT might just possibly be fairly OK for very old guys who are at the end of their lives, sitting in a nursing home. However, for anyone who has their lives ahead of them, to lead in a productive way... Then, most likely, nothing could be worse than Google's YT. Pablum for the masses. Even worse than religion,....maybe.... I have tried to stop watching, myself....without much success. This is why I am so grateful to have been been banned, this evening. Thank you for this.... Google!

why is the tool bar at the bottom of the page?
GammaGlobulin replied to thaibeachlovers's topic in Forum Support Desk
No difficulties here. All problems have been duly rectified, since the last major revision. No ineptitude here, on my part, which might cause me to find it difficult to use the forum, as designed. Not sure why you are complaining...because.... I see just about...NOTHING.... To complain about. The forum is now back to normal....which is to say....now back to.... It's good standard..... Or, just about as good as it has ever been...or.... Even better. Still, I prefer the default color of the forum to be less bright.....and.... Less white. The sun outside is already bright enough. Hurts my eyes...... -
Lazada - If it looks too good to be true ...
GammaGlobulin replied to Crossy's topic in General Topics
You really cannot blame the suppliers who sell through Lazada for your being scammed. You reward these suppliers for their behavior....obviously....by continuing to buy from Lazada. If we wish to stamp out this bad behavior, in ONE FELL SWOOP, or one Full Sweep, then we know what to do: EN MASSE, we need to stop buying...immediately. Then, within about three months.....all this bad behavior will cease to be rewarded....and then.... Scamming will come to a halt, lickety-split. There is no other way. En Masse, just stop buying and rewarding bad behavior....for one-half year. All the bad actors will quickly fall by the wayside. Then, we can RESET.... And the consumer world will be a better place. There is really no other way. Lazada, and the suppliers, will not police themselves...obviously. This is the only solution. I have stopped buying. Anytime I need something, then I will buy from Amazon. Amazon, at least up til now, has been willing to make bad purchased good, with very little discussion. Mostly, though, I have never had to dispute anything with Amazon. Just do not buy from Lazada.... This is the simplest solution..... This is a new age in which uninformed and uneducated consumers have access to online buying...just to give themselves a HIT, a buying-related HIGH, presumably because they are addicted to the Gambling Rush that it provides.... And, here in Asia, especially Thailand, gamblers are legion..... Now, hear this!!!!: -
Lazada - If it looks too good to be true ...
GammaGlobulin replied to Crossy's topic in General Topics
I just avoid the the scams by no longer buying from Lazada until it cleans up it's act. Some might enjoy this Cat and Mouse game, and some enjoy risk and gambling. But I do not. This is not just a problem with Lazada, these days. This is the season of the scams. I STOPPED buying from Lazada about a year ago, and for valid reasons. Also, I have stopped buying from many other retailers, as well. I will still buy from JIB...because....computer products are still good value, and JIB, here where I am, has, during the past couple of years, upped their game to supply very good quality products. I am OK with buying computer stuff. But, i am not OK buying from other retailers as I once did. And, this is the season of the witch, too.... -
I've had enough of the Tourist Ghettos in Thailand!

Dear Folks, I know that, other than Jeff Beck, probably THE KINKS is the one of the pivotally most important bands of the last hundred years.....not to mention Jeff Beck's music being different, of course. The thing is: The KINKS are still very relevant and useful, today, in Thailand. This evening, so suddenly, I became blasted by some disgusting caterwauling, which locals call "music", which almost caused me to upchuck, but luckily.... I had access to some of the greatest music in the world, on my Google Drive, which I played, in order to mask this "cat music", which was hitting me from all sides, and... Up and Down, too. The KINKS music, played through my expensive headphones, was the only thing that saved me. Next time, though, i will be prepared. NEXT TIME: I will have ordered some decent noise-cancelling headphones. Hope I don't need to pay too much for them. But, at any price, living here in Thailand.... The cost will be worth it. These days, I think that the noise-canceling tech has progressed far enough, to the point that an expensive set can cancel out Music Festivals....or.... Am I wrong about this? I will pay through the nose for a good set of noise-cancelling phones. ========= Still, having been blasted with Garbage Music, from about one kilometer away, and feeling the sound pressure of it, as if it were being blasted from my own garden...and suffering much as a result... I am thankful to the KINKS, from yesteryear, for helping me to partially mask the din of today's Thailand world. Have you used expensive noise-canceling headphones to cancel the local din from Music Festival Noise? Do they work? Is the expense worth it? And, who is the APE, anyway? Me? Just because I choose not to listen to Ape Music? Still, each to one's own. I prefer JS Bach, above all other music. Yet. apparently, others around here, do not. In case you do not know... If you are new to Thailand.... THIS is the season for Garbage Music being blasted everywhere in this country. So.... Enjoy. This blasting is likely to last for about 4 or 5 more months, at least...until..... The Raining Season. Sure, it will!!!!! Enjoy. Gamma

Srinagarind Hospital overwhelmed by 830% rise in cancer patients
GammaGlobulin replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Yes. This is what I have been trying to tell one other member here. But, he just says: Nothing to see here. You are correct that it would be highly unlikely that, in any given group, under natural conditions, that cancer rates would rise by 8-fold. Still, some here have no concept of probability, and have never studied either statistics or probability. These are the same who play the lottery. It is possible to increase the cancer rates in a test group by 8-fold, but one must introduce some wild card, such as a thermonuclear bomb. The article is extremely misleading, and seemingly is intent on causing FUD. -
Srinagarind Hospital overwhelmed by 830% rise in cancer patients
GammaGlobulin replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I was referring to the linked article in this Topic. This article does not inform the reader concerning the number of patients...but only gives the percentage increase. One can only see if one opens one's eyes before stating that there is nothing to see without first having had a careful look. -
Srinagarind Hospital overwhelmed by 830% rise in cancer patients
GammaGlobulin replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
the 8-fold rise could be due to a number of factors. a. different screening techniques b. many more people getting screened What you really need to look at is mortality rate. And NOT the rate at which people are being diagnosed and treated. So, this 800-percent figure is meaningless. Not enough information to make any sense out of it. Also, actual numbers need to be reported, and not just a percentage. If the number goes from one diagnosed patient to 8 patients per year, then its an 800 percent rise. This is garbage reporting, because the necessary info to make sense of it is not been included. Has the hospital changed its policies, for example, to attract more cancer patients? This is unknown....etc.... -

Last time I purchased a product with a Square D symbol on it, Square D was a USA company. In 1991, Square D became French. In future, I will not use Square D. Thank you. Also, I will stop using APC back-up. APC is owned by that French company. No more APC for me. Thank you, once again. APC is French?
