  1. Pickles .. another one of the easiest things to make at home. Too many recipes on line. Keep a couple jars going at all times ... hmm, running low on sauerkraut
  2. Air fryer, you mean the mini convection oven. Own 3, all sizes, (2 minis(4.5 & 12L ?), all labeled air fryer. Depends what I'm cooking, size wise, but I wouldn't try boiling water in any.
  3. No need to search if boiling water, if kettle not already heated by induction. Then microwave, but not gas or electric hob. Of course if O&A, you could, would put it on your manifold, where I'd just plug in ...
  4. Move to a place that only charges the MEA/PEA rate (<5 baht) would be first choice. If you cut your usage to minimal, not much else you can do since budget traveler.
  5. Multiple options ... could have simply asked Miss Google
  6. Still using the least efficient things available ... ... no surprise there from the ICE crowd
  7. Google images, just use correct 'search parameters', same as the old petrol station photo. No need to use my 'time machine' to go back to Vietnam War era petrol station at Udon Thani. Or was that more humour, as can't waste time taking photos of signs at petrol station. Having too much to fit in before the car is done charging. 3 P breaks, browse vendors & a munch takes long enough already ... ... oops, cars done ... got to go ...
  8. None, especially if spicy. Just doesn't work with Thai food IMHO, unless something very bland is ordered. Maybe just a slightly non western version of grilled meats with non spicy sides, then maybe a wine might work. Sounds like a boring meal though, and almost an 'international' meal vs a Thai meal.
  9. oh humour ... y'all need a for us folks that are challenged with soring through the trolling or not. It's so confusing at times.
  10. You do have to wonder if some people live here, or have ever visited TH. How can you miss the annoying placards they put on you car, right in front of you face/driver seat, before waiting for you to tell them 'which grade of petrol & how much'
  11. Same as every country, abet, foreigner can't own land, but as already stated, she should have a will. And added protection for you / OP @AcuDoc, maybe another trusted person's name on paperwork, unless of course you know who you can transfer to, if needed (if staying or till sold) within the 1 year grace period, and still live there. This has already been discussed on so many threads, and all a bit of common sense. Know the law and prepare for the worst. My wife has will, and trusted daughter's name is on all important paperwork. No worries, unless they both crap out in the same car crash. Which case I just transfer to one of her 7 siblings till I sell it along with all the crap I inherit from my daughter. If sold within the year, which it would be, then I wouldn't even have to transfer to one of wife's sisters.
  12. No they haven't flip flopped. Public dispensaries are convenient, and promote competitive pricing, hopefully. Same as public / out of hospital pharmacies. Do you really want have to register at a hospital. Q up at 0600 hrs, if not earlier, to get the Q for services that start at 0830 hrs, and wait 3 hours, hopefully, to see a doc, to get a script, to get a small supply, only to repeat next month. I think not Any proof that the regulations have failed. No system will be perfect, but not a whole lot of news-blips of the system being abused. And they should be getting tax out of every sale now, along with license fees.
  13. Seen it online, but doubt very much if it falls into anything close to legal use parameters. Maroccan Hash Green Labs, Krung Thep
  14. I guess it's petrol station dependent ... Besides the one they place on your hood / bonnet
  15. Here's a brand (sausage)you may want to avoid
  16. Tested out new ARO offering @ Makro, and won't be buying again ... nuff said 480g @ ฿199, I'll stick with homemade or TGM 'Spicy' when feeling lazy.
  17. Definitely, and with all the new models out their since buying, think we'd still go with the one we have, MG ZS, though try to catch it on sale, and save 80k baht. Not the newest style, though I like it's uniqueness (grill) or have all the bells & whistles, which we don't need and wouldn't use anyway. Stated before, deciding factor to stick with same, battery IP rating, encased in steel & modular repair of battery pack, and relieves all concerns, for us, of the major unknowns of keeping an EV as your last car purchase. I have to have a SUV, as getting in/out of salon just isn't as comfortable. Wife definitely won't go back to a salon, as wouldn't even consider the EP after sitting in it ... "but honey, it's ฿180k cheaper, and same specs" So that scratches off most, except for the Atto 3, as still in the <฿1M ball park, which scratches off the rest. Since having the ICE version, every surprise has been a positive one.
  18. Describe near ? 40k should be more than enough to find something comfy, unless as stated, you're thinking beachfront.
  19. Unlimited range ... don't need no stinkn' petrol
  20. I'm a Yank, it's all the same to me, and simply a 'highway', unless called an 'interstate' (province) highway, then I don't expect any cross traffic. Something TH lacks, with very few exception. They are sticking in more over/underpasses, but won't be done in my time. Lucky to average 80 kph on any 4-6 hr road trip on the highways here. Not that many actually restrict scooters, <??? cc, and mostly elevated and or toll roads here.
  21. Atto 3 ... will depend if you want a SUV or salon car. Not many BEV SUV here, Atto 3 & MG ZS in the <1M price range. Rest are lower spec'd or silly priced, for us modest folks. Yes, MG is getting killed by BYD, with a few more bells & whistles and more stylish look, with multiple offerings, and newer battery tech. MG's saving grace is some specs, IP69, steel incased battery, and module repair / replacement possible. But lagging behind in any real upgrades. 2022 ZS, minor upgrade, EP to ES with price jump, and MG4 aren't really going to impress most, though still under the 1M price point. MG having a better, establish dealer / CS network, for now anyway. Though for EV, not really that much of an advantage, since need little, if any maintenance, and CS are everywhere. We rarely use MG now when O&A, and usually only if PTT Park show full.
  22. @andux Without the burning season, you're going to need to go south, and nothing is going to be smog free within 1-2 hrs, not even Hua Hin (3.5 hrs), which has too much smog for us, and we're 1 hr below there. HH AQI of 100-150 isn't rare at all. If you want to be near Bangkok, then I'd split my time N & S during appropriate seasons, burning & non. Could ever spend in Bangkok areas, as most don't areas don't have large expat community, and quite easy to avoid, but convenient to all of Krung Thep via rail lines. Don't need to be rural for that full immersion experience, as plenty of neighborhoods in Krung Thep that you'd be hard pressed to see another foreigner during any day of knocking around. Depending how often you want to be at Bangkok, you could just go S and be near one of the airports for quick access; Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, would be good choices. Whether rural or downtown, there are few expats there.
  23. Would think every metro area at least, has bad areas, worldwide. Though most tourist or expats won't venture into them, unless taking a very wrong turn, and not exiting as soon as they get that bad feeling. I've walked around lots of areas (hindsight, not best idea) and luckily no issues. Usually a few beers too many already, and then found myself sitting with locals I met along the way, for a chit chat sometimes into the wee hours of the evening. Not recommended of course. Not in Krung Thep though. Remember one on outskirts of downtown Chumphon, when the next morning thought to myself ... 'what were you thinking ... idiot' Before GPS and I actually got lost.
  24. Q took couple months (2+/- weeks or so), but that was Udon Thani metro area. Chanotes were ready about 6 week later. Had a lot re-pegged at Amphur Muang PKK, and they arrived in a couple weeks. Verify & peg the lot, and Chanote also took about 6 weeks. Just need to verify boundary before constructing perimeter wall. I found both land offices, UT & PKK to be very informative & cooperative. No real issues, but our paperwork was always prepped and we knew what the expected if anything. Just ask.
