  1. Drink bottled water. If you live here, find a supplier, RO bottles 18L is 20 baht where we are, not BKK. We get 5 bottles every so often, for drinking & cooking water. Delivered, too easy, too cheap. If don't live here, simply get the 5 or 6 L bottles, cost 30-45, depending who buying from. 7-11 has on the higher end of that price, Makro on the lower end.
  2. Probably less, since they are not very powerful, and top end speed is probably 25-40kph.
  3. Might want to change the title again to something more accurate.
  4. Good for her, smart gal, self employed. She can live anywhere then 👍
  5. I guess you could claim a mental disability, and can't work, as too distressing to think about MMCC. Get that disability check every month.
  6. Go to the surf to walk around with the dog, come back and a few pages added. Talk about a bunch of negative Nellies ... ... and you're on a Thai forum ... WHY ?
  7. Makro, CP product, and no, we don't buy meats from the fresh/wet markets. Actually ฿84 is high, as usually ฿73-79. Yes you do, and most everyday items is same or cheaper, for us, as don't buy name brand (international) processed foods. It's a shame you don't, No overpriced labor here How's that RE tax every year, (8% or more) for the house you already paid for ? Our RE Tax is ฿5 How's that sales/VAT tax ... 20% vs TH's 7% Tell me again how inexpensive it is ... "oh but we get free healthcare". YEA, right ... there's no free lunch, you're just paying for it in advance. Really sucks if you don't use it.
  8. Have him watch this vid and read this thread, as some good advice on there ... https://aseannow.com/topic/1327585-an-expat-who-left-thailand/
  9. Best to leave ASAP, if you know TH is not for you. Still employable, and sticker shock (housing) not too bad on his return. Sure he knows now, should have tested the waters before selling up, as he took a couple big hits on his finances by not doing at least a 1 year tester. What I always advise, 1 yr in different locations also. I got here 2000, and 7 yrs later, and still not sure if staying, and truly didn't decide, until building 2nd house, and that was 2011. Hence the reason for buying POS entry lever cars back then, and easy to walk away from. If not meeting present wife in 2006, may not have stayed. Even after, and selling 1st house (2008), nothing really keeping me here, except relationships. We even rented in PKK for 3 years before building, to make sure it was right for us, even though bought the land a years earlier, before leaving Udon Thani. Make sure the weather & pollution levels were OK, or it would have been further south. Miss the cool season, though short, of the NE, but not the pollution or the boredom. Not big deal then, as housing in USA, IF returned, doubtful, hadn't changed much. But the last 5 - 8 years, just silly price increases, and really unaffordable for young people starting out.
  10. From experience, for E85 users, good luck finding that at PTT, as we used with our last ICEV, until prices started equalizing with 91, and no advantage. E85 was very hard to find at PTT, and usually only at the newer larger PTT Park stations. EV charging is easier to find now, and that's not an exaggeration
  11. Hopefully they won't need it, and it was well thought out, and researched, with a nice bank account to start off with.
  12. @FlorC To add to the Muhendis' post above, they all have their own version of user friendly (hopefully) interface to control things. Not knowing the others, ours seens pretty user friendly. Touch screen and buttons selection on the inverter, and you can chose settings. Use priority, and when and where the solar power or grid power goes. Since wanting to be 'off grid', ours is set to use: 1st ... Solar 2nd ... ESS /battery 3rd ... Grid If battery <35%, then grid kicks in, which will never happen Unless 3 days of total crap weather. Then we can choose if wanting more longevity out of batteries, a TOU (time of use) for the grid to kick in at anytime, by hours of the day, or simply when needed. Same with export and % of what goes where & when. We don't export at all. Only thing that is connected directly to the grid, is the EV (car) wall charger, since it puts out 7.4kWh. We rarely use that, and most charging is done with the granny/emergency charging cable that also came with the car. Plugs into any outlet, and puts out 2.3kWh. Use that when excess is available, and at least every other day, as don't let the car below 80% that often. Deye doesn't have an app, that I know of, or use. But there is a compatible app, 'Solarman Smart' that is wifi compatible, and will monitor the use, and record what is going on in real time and stores use history, and statistics (day, month, year, total), and most anything needed. Can not change inverter settings via that app. Even when away from house in other provinces, can monitor the inverter.
  13. Be nice if they were available to buy on the cheap, once they shut down. Folks out in the villages could use. Wouldn't mind having one myself to toy with, chop shop into something something different.
  14. Like visiting, and usually something going on, but couldn't live in any city, and I'm not neighbor friendly. Nor care for the smells, exhaust, sewers, trash. Pass on the roaming rats, and stepping over the roaches at night.
  15. That sucks ... nice boomers though, for us fireworks fans. Need to unlock your BYD Fire thread Why do I have this image of all the EV Haters jumping & cheering as if their team has just won the 'World Cup'
  16. I have to plead total ignorance when it comes to most thing electrical, why use of the installer. Here's specs for our inverter & panels: SUNTECH SOLAR 540 WP Deye 8kW Inverter
  17. I used to manage a couple Amoco filling stations back in USA, and 3 grades of petrol; cheap, better & premium, maybe 89/93/102 (?) All 3 cost about the same, wholesale. Low cost, huge volume sales ... cheap sold a couple cents more than cost (1-2% (?) ... better, just wee bit more than cheap ... premium cost about 20% mark up over cost, and total ridiculous pricing. Was surprised how little mark up on petrol, but huge volume sales every day. Premium pushed heaving in advertising, 'the BEST' for your car, even though test show, most cars only need the cheap grade. People bought a lot of premium You hear it enough times, you start to believe it. Unless driving a very high performance car, 99.9% don't, then you're wasting money.
  18. I yearn for the days when tabloids had better headliners ... "I got pregnant by an Alien during my adduction"
  19. What does the daughter do, when she's an adult, and doesn't qualify for any visas, unless marrying a Thai.
  20. IMHO ... they are paid to do the same, worldwide, and take the report after the fact. If lucky, if actually get help from any locals, or if CCTV available, maybe make an arrest....maybe. Good luck if it makes it trial, get convicted, and probably sent to one of those revolving door prisons.
  21. That's false, as any motorized vehicle has to be registered, and you have to have a license to operate it.
  22. Paid ฿84 for kg of chicken breast the past week. IF you own your own home ...
  23. They offer 3 basic health check up programs. #3 includes the ultrasound (item #27), and always seems to be on sale. Now ฿7900 / $220 USD The cancer markers aren't that useful, unless like us, we get a check up every year or so, then the first one gives you a baseline to compare any changes. Nice to know how big the prostate is, as did get a bit larger the one year, but now seems to be constant size, and not much of an issue. As expand out, and not restricting flow, just a bit of pressure on bladder. Had fatty liver, but was also 100kg at one time. Latest CT Scan of full abdomen, didn't show fatty liver, but I'm also only 75 kgs. Get checked locally now, and even less expensive, though gov't hospital and an all day affair, with results given at later date. Does save the drive to BKK, though add a visit w/daughter, so not really a special trip for check up. At the private hosp in BKK, all done before lunch (0830-1030), and no real Q'ing at each station, and report with consultation right after lunch, and copy of report for your records.
  24. You brought this up before and it was answered. You seem to ignore the answers, and repeat yourself. Since the market is new here, along with all the quality EV showing up, why would you expect them to have lots of problems. They're not ICEV, so not that much can go wrong. Not even wear or tear, as simply too new. Along with to none JP, USA, EU badged cars showing up in numbers, keeping any problems down to a minimum. Most issues, I believe have simply been OTA software tweaks, and to be expected since most are new and or upgraded models. Pretty much a testing ground for new & upgraded models and until customer feedback is received after in use, then they can correct the minor annoyances. Everything can't be sorted at the test track. Also testament to the older ones that have been here since 2019 and before. Though very low numbers. And why is biden, I assume, the thumbnail for that vid. Another anti evil EV channel ... great.
