Thai Bus Firms Under Siege by Cut-Rate Chinese Competitors
KhunLA replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Competition is a beautiful thing 😎 -
Yes, know ROI, what it means to me, but what does OP expect, how meaning. More info needed. For me, always better to buy, BUT, lots a variables involved with that decisions. One size doesn't fit all. Condos don't appreciate like other RE in TH, that have land to go with it. Always new condos built, competitively priced, so as an investment, again, a few variables to think about. OP member of AN since May, and if that reflects his experience with TH, then rent, as has a lot to learn & experience before buying in.

Yes, can filter pet friendly & parking, our 2 priorities. Also state if pet fee or not in the listings in 'house rules'. Fairly accurate info, and we use for that. Though usually same or cheaper when wife calls. Get their ph@ off Gmap. Some places will take pets, even if listed on booking.com as 'no pets', and wife calls around quite a bit when we are O&A.

ROI ??? Do you plan on living at condo till your end of days ? If not rent. Dependent on age, finances, and how long you've been or know TH. Rent at any condo you consider buying at for a year also, before buying.

Get a hotel with pool, as surf is dangerous (rips) this time of year. Pop into Phuket Old Town Walking Street if there on Sunday.

We use Ibis quite a lot when overnighting at HH. Have elevators, so no stairs. Do have a 10kg limit on dogs though. Not the best value in town, or location if wanting nightlife, but damn comfy beds. Try Ree Raa Resort, if having a larger dog, or want to be a bit closer to things.

UT is/was very good. Though be 7 or 8 yrs since using. But no scams. Sorry, no rec on a builder. Last one I used retired after our house was built. A couple guys live in UT, and hopefully will chime in.

Elon Musk's SpaceX to Return Nasa's Stranded Astronauts Next Year

What a scam, enough already. NASA needs to abandon SSI commitments before someone gets killed. Along with all 'space exploration' Trillions of $$$$, not to mention lives wasted that could have been spent making Earth a better place to live. What a scam. -

Agree or not with her efforts, she's wasting her time. Though beats working a real job. Everyone knows fossil fuels are bad for the environment, they simply don't care. If they did, they'd change and do something about it. In their personal lives, (solar & BEV) or at least at the voting booth. The solutions are available & easy to do. Fighting corruption, well, good luck with that. -
Looking to buy a new SUV - any recommendations?
KhunLA replied to fezza's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
If new prices hold, I guess anyone budget challenged still have choices, BEV still a better choice, as would think they keep their vehicles for long time. Others, such as myself, don't care about ROI, but realize it's there, and happy to pass the info along. IF, they could find one of these, then no wait for ROI. Though still don't know the details of this pricing. Might ask today, as popping into the MB dealer. Off subject ... I placed an order for the Wuling Air yesterday, 459, but cancelled this AM, as decided I have enough toys. -
Declaration of war was never delivered, so was never at war with the USA, USA definitely didn't ignore JP's occupation of TH. Bombed the hell out of a few locations in TH, a few times, and worked with The "Free Thai Movement", essential in supplying info, to speed independence along. Living in PKK, hard to ignore TH's WW II history. Same as when living in Philly, USA, impossible to ignore USA's history.

Since not a danger to society or flight risk, he'd still be out on bail while appealing. First offender, no criminal record, non violent crime ... no jail sentence.

Looking to buy a new SUV - any recommendations?
KhunLA replied to fezza's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
OK, that's true, as I was thinking generalization, such as a top end Toyota Yaris vs MG4.. MG4 about same price, or cheaper, but way better specs. Yea, if going MG ZS ICE vs EV, then yes, a tad more expensive, but again, better specs. More expensive components, which should, would, will, last longer, with huge savings along the way. The ZS as a comparison, the BEV is worth every 100-150k baht more in components & performance. Loved the ICEV version, but it pales in performance & savings for the BEV version. -

That's not entirely true, in TH anyway, probably elsewhere, so, no need for me to read the rest. Gov'ts make them more expensive elsewhere. So much for providing the public for best product, at best price for best value. edit: same make & model, yes true, but, get better specs, components, and huge savings, ROI in usually a short time. If picking entry level JP badged ICEV 'made in TH', then BEVs are a better spec'd and better performing, overall value, for about the same price. IMHO -

What's going to happen to the price of ICEV when most turn to BEV for the savings, and or gov't restriction of sales ? Just the lower cost of BEV production, being passed onto the consumer, is killing the ICEV market. You really have to think long and hard (if doing research) before buying an over priced, under performing, more expensive to operate & maintain ICEV vs BEV. I'm being very kind (no name calling), as I have different adjective for those, instead of 'needing to think hard'... I would never consider another ICEV ... I've seen the light, straight from a higher power -

More price cuts, due to BYD's competitive offerings and pricing. Something MG didn't have prior to 2022, and basically no competition of the EVs; BEV, HEV, PHEV at their price point. That all changed 2+ years ago. And Nissan Leaf doesn't count, as only an idiot would be that, and at 2M baht, was more than any MG back then anyway. -

What Toyota says, they are or will do, is not necessarily what they have done or will do. IMHO Anything other than fossil fuel vehicles cuts into a huge portion of ICEV makers & big oil's profits, so while would the rush to make them. Actually the opposite, as they seem to have done everything possible to delay alternative types of transportation IMHO Been push hydrogen for 30+ years & yet .... nuff said -
Tin sheds on pickup trucks - legal or not?
KhunLA replied to Foxx's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
You probably shouldn't tailgate them ... I even find the tinted windows annoying, as I can't see through vehicles, not that I ever tailgate anyone 🙄 -
@Yellowtail Perfect example of BS and or misinformation ... from another thread of someone actually asking for information. "Used electric vehicles are depreciating 10 times faster than their gas-powered counterparts' By that silliness, same priced ICEV & BEV bought at same time, depreciation driving off the lot with the ICEV, losing 10 % value, the BEV would be completely worthless. Would he be simply ignorant, trolling or purposely providing misinformation. Any or, and the forum really doesn't need such silliness, especially when the thread is a person (OP) actually looking for some guidance. ... nuff said

HEY .... I think we're all thick skinned enough. Yes, I'll point out someone trolling or ignorant, or forgetful, as recently happened. You think tranny & eow aren't trolls on the EV threads. Or even yourself & myself at times, though we're more reserved, and not pushing BS and misinformation. Well except for the above post
-
Some are that way, but I'll pretty much speak my opinion the same, in person or on the internet. Your thought is valid, as I've invited a few local keyboard warriors to pop over to the house, years past, if wanting to discuss things in person. None took me up on the offer ... go figure 😎

Name calling or simply pointing out the obvious
-
Again, you ignorance shines, as most testing & research shows the largest degradation of battery life is in the very early stages of life, then possible in the extreme later stages of battery life, which highly unlikely, the rest of the vehicle would last as long as the battery or motors. Unless one is really racking up the kms every year. It would take us over 25 years to put 500k kms on any vehicle. If we only drove necessary kms, might take 50+ years, to put on half that, as we only need to drive about 5k kms a year, if that. Kind of thought the Alzheimer's remark was spot on, since you already quoted & replied to the exact same info you wanted me to post. And less than 1 year ago. Does boggle the mind how you forgot something so specific. What's annoying is the people that have no interests in EVs, but spew a bunch of BS, they know nothing about. And question and ask for verification from those that own, and know exactly what they are talking about. I'm happy to be, and have been corrected occasionally, the the silliness some of you state and ask for is either complete & utter ignorance (no research) or simply trolling. Seems every EV thread is about 10% information offered, and 90% information of trolls being corrected. IMHO My last 10ish post on this thread proves that, as have offered nothing new, simply pointing out and correcting the BS.
