  1. If nothing is sprouting, or the smell isn't off, it's fine to me. Nothing last that long in our frig. Especially with a dog in the house. 3-7 days would be a ballpark idea, depending what it is. Our problem is fruits & veggies, uncooked, as they seem to turn fast here.
  2. As someone already stated, people aren't as generous, if alcohol induced accident. They may decide to give their funds to someone that didn't contribute to their situation.
  3. I'm not buying the 'balcony's fault' either. Hard to believe people still blame the balcony, as yet to encounter one that I thought was too low, and I'm far from from short or tall, 175cm. A few with shaky railings I wouldn't trust, but nothing I'd come close to falling over. You're on a balcony, you use caution, you're crossing the street, you use caution. Those 2 'accidents' are simply too easily avoidable. Only construction issue I have, is width/depth of steps, some quite shallow for a size 12/44 to walk down, and I need to step sideways ... a lot, or I'd slip off the edge of the steps. That's worldwide though, a bit more so here.
  4. "Hua Hin, Pran Buri, Mueang District, Sam Roi Yot, Thap Sakae, Bang Saphan District, and Bang Saphan Noi." So Kui Buri appears to be getting plenty of rain ????
  5. You really never heard of the monkeys @ Lopburi ? Best to be avoided, as they've taken over, and take 'aggressive' to a whole new level.
  6. Jenner is a poor choice for that ad, since undergoing surgery. Never understood the male/female toilet thing, and always thought they should be unisex w/CCTV for security, unfortunately, with today's pervs. Remember 1st time here/TH using and chickie came in to clean, inspect while I was using. Seemed strange at that moment (of entry) but not like she could see me using the urinal or if in a stall. So why not. In USA, you'd hear a voice checking to see if anyone in the toilet area, and staff would wait till empty. Why ? Remember at concerts in USA, women would constantly come into the men's toilet, as women's always had a line out the door. Nobody cared. If a man did the same, used the ladies room, expect to be arrested or evicted from the building ????
  7. Almost had an oops the other day, on scooter, coming out of local park, about to cross 'one way' lanes to the over pass lanes, also one way. Looked left anyway, nothing suppose to be there and there wasn't, then looked right for oncoming, 1 scooter, it pass, then I proceeded. Food delivery guy blew by me from the left ... WTF ... you A-hole. I stopped just as I started, and about 1 meter from collision. Then thought to myself ... WTF ... you A-hole, how could you not look again before proceeding. I know better. That was a close one, as probably spooked him as much as me. He had no time to react, if I continued. Be Safe ... look, then look again, and a 3rd time would never hurt
  8. Doesn't take much of a guess. Falling off a balcony is not the easiest thing to do. BUT ... add a slab of beer, and it apparently is quite common with tourist. Not a whole lot of reasons left to deny a claim. Agree with others, it really is silly to have travel ins, at that age, on holiday, as myself, would always have alcohol in my system. From sipping with meals, to full on party mode while on holiday. It's simply what you do when a youngin, or what many expats continue to do in retirement/end of life, never ending holiday. Best escape clause there is for denying claims, and doesn't even have to be a high A/B limit, as a few beers would put you over any 'driving' limit. Can't fault the ins companies, simply good business, and protects themselves. If any of us were underwriting the policy, yea, you'd have an A/B limit clause in it also.
  9. Agree Vientiane is Ok for a weekend, if that. Bangkok ... Most exciting ... nah As much as I like it, I wouldn't make a special trip to go there, especially internationally. It's convenient, if living in TH, and the only big metro ... that's it. Nothing worth going to see, if not in the neighborhood.
  10. If Philly, PA, USA, it's a great small city. Was 25 yrs ago ????
  11. My stoneware pan had a glass coating, which started sticking, so I think it was compromise/cracked at spots. Wasn't a fan afterwards.
  12. @watthong PhiMai Nat Museum Call first, as Gmap states 'temporarily closed' 044471167
  13. Go to PhiMai first, since smaller, and the museum is on the road into town. Many pass it without realizing it. No rec on transport, as self drive, but as suggested, surely your accommodations will know of.
  14. I go for R&R and landscape, view, a snapshot, sunrise/set at different location. Hopefully a snap of a new bird species. A market if interesting location, or I'm actually shopping/rare. That's about it of late. Wats & history ... done, not longer of interest. Nan will be quite nice for a few days. Same with the rest of the N that I haven't seen yet.
  15. No argument here, well, except the Thai bashing comment as it seems some live to do just that on this forum.
  16. I know more people that got killed on a MC in the USA, than here, and I know at least 10X as many people here that use MCs everyday. USA, except for me, riding MCs was seasonal among the people I knew that got killed. Unless snow or ice on the roads, rare, I rode my MC to work. That's stats enough for me. I'm been cut off on a MC in the USA, more than here. Obviously more die here, do their lack of helmet wearing, and reckless drivers.
  17. you did bring USA into the conversation.... ... car for car, per capita, maybe safer here ... scooter for scooter per capita, maybe safer here also USA Still off topic though. Figure I'd give the Thai bashing a break also ... ????
  18. Familiarity is nice also. Phuket, CM, Krung Thep, worthy of more than 1 visit. Familiar and in comfort zone, while exploring the rest of the area. Something like Patts though, unless going much further, it's same same, not different, and you only go there for 1 thing, unless a local, and for them, a quick, close escape from the Big Mango. We used to pop into Krung Thep and or Hua Hin on the way to Phuket twice a year. Explore a bit each time, till nothing left to explore, and same after so many visits to Phuket, aside from tourist #s increasing steadily on Phuket. The reason we started exploring, and really liking what was in between Hua Hin & Phuket. Giving Phuket a 10 yr break, until Covid, then actually visited during 'high season' a few times. Pure Bliss. But now, they're back, and higher #s than when we stopped going 13ish years ago ???? Not sure if & when we'll return to Phuket, or even our regular southern loop, as also explored out. So ... Look North young man ... ???? As an Intern'l tourist, not seeing the repeated visits that some do, unless they get out a lot more to other countries through out the year. Definitely a better pay grade / holiday budget than me. Aside for distance and having to put up with plane travel, if from USA, or even from here now. I'm planed out, I just can't do it ????
  19. I actually feel safer on motorcycle here/TH, than in the USA. Since so many here, people are aware of them, vs USA, where they are not or simply don't respect them, look for them or give them space, since most have never ridden one.
  20. have you asked the builder to return & fix ... ... or finish Try finish when talking to him, as he won't lose face. Just say you notice a few loose, and wondering when he'll finish ... ???? I'd just go buy a screw gun/drill, and finish it myself. If you climbed up to put caps on, then your capable to screw it down.
  21. Not believing the news-blip either, as it's been raining everywhere we've gone, the past 6 weeks, some lite, some heavy, some all day. PKK, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Phang-Nga, Hua Hin, Krung Thep. Only place where very little was Phuket. Getting ready to rain here/PKK now. And right on time, per forecast.
  22. Nothing to compare to, as a 1st time, but Mr Shawarma @ MBK, ground floor had some damn tasty falafel. About the only thing worth going into MBK for if staying @ ibis across the street ???? Mr S
  23. 10 kms / L ... pretty krappy, and hope she has a better car than that. Yank, so I know USA measures, and NO, didn't notice your reply, as don't read 'em all, especially after I reply.
  24. I forget how, as I've had one ... almost forever. Sorry, not helpful, but didn't won't to ignore your query.
