  1. I thought a better warning might be something like: Don't release an engineered bio weapon virus into society, unless of course, you don't care how many millions people you kill on the way to record profits in the billions, while knocking the middle class down a rung or 3. Not eating bats would be common sense also ... ????
  2. Video in my post (Ball of Confusion-Temptations) was censored out. That may help explain my post. If you know of. or watch on YT. If not, then the one members signature is quite appropriate, here, and to most replies: "I can help explain it to you, but I can't help you to understand it"
  3. 60s is never too old for experimenting, or reliving our past experiences You'd be surprised what us hippie dippy types were up to in our youth. Some of you youngins' just don't know how to get your freak on.
  4. Disagree completely with that snippet in OP. Know more than a few gals having, even before legal. Just need to ask the right folks.
  5. Or ... they may want to share a katoey and get their freak on ... ... hence my suggestion to ask them what they want to see & do ???? I know my brothers & wives would be upset if taking them to Nana/Soi Cowboy, turn around & hop on 1st plane out of here. Some friends would probably ask me to go somewhere to get their freak on, along with some real Thai sites, markets (not the krap Chatuchak). Riverboat up to Ko Kret/Chit Beer after a stroll around. Catch sunset at Wat Arun on boat ride back (timing is everything), hit ICONSIAM for the excellent fake floating market & dinner at one of the posh places upstairs, overlooking river & city. Hit one of the canal markets, and or canal/river hotel & definitely ChinaTown, day or night.
  6. Tour guides, y'all ain't. Thailand for 1st time, and with exception of 'maybe a canal trip'... a bunch of bars, and adult entertainment venues ???? Suggest you ask them what they want to see & do. Personally I would go with something uniquely Thailand. Bars & hookers are everywhere, worldwide. Last thing I want to do, is travel a few thousand mile/kms, to sit in a bar, and worse, eating western food. Thailand for an English brekkie, Toad in Hole, or Meat pie ... watching hookers work their sales routine ... seems like wasted time & money.
  7. More fear & doom & gloom... govt will fix all: "more taxes will solve everything... ... and the banded on" ???? ... there's none so blind as those who will not see ... 50 yrs later, and the spin still works ... Timeless:
  8. No street food needs to be dirty or unhealthy. Simply choose wisely. Brick & mortar restaurant doesn't ensure clean or healthy. Went into the kitchen of a farang managed bar/restaurant, for a 'smoke'. Holy F'n Buddha ... never ate there again ???? And it was a favorite for my weekly pork chop or burger, while sipping a few.
  9. Yes, one annoyance of the 'ICE' app I didn't care for, as I don't listen to the radio, although the wife does, when I'm not in the car. I've muted the sound, that helps sometimes, but eventually it will come back on by itself. EV version seems to have fixed that annoyance. Although, it seems to update me on the weather every time it starts. Need to go into settings, see if I can change that. Other settings need to be set, before turning off, as you, I put it in reverse, ASAP, when needed, blocking any adjustments when done so. AC always on high when turning off, so on high when started.
  10. Yes & No: ... yes spend less than <฿20k a year for all medical expenses and covers both of us, USUALLY; includes full med check up, and meds, IF needing. ... not so USUAL, I had a med oops last week, (1 overnight procedure) that rang up a ฿201k and change bill @ govt hosp. No monthly health ins. bill, as silly priced for what they would cover, IF, I could even get coverage @ 67 yrs old. 50 some years of never paying healthcare premiums, and I'm well ahead on that financial curve. That's what emergency / oops funds are for, the unexpected, though at my age, not so much any more, and just a matter of time. Hopefully quick and inexpensive. DNR
  11. "There are 3 driving modes to choose from and unlike some other cars, these aren't gimmicky. They're mapped specifically for different driving styles. • Normal Mode: The default mode. The car always restarts in this mode, no matter what mode you last drove in. It's great for driving in the city as well as on the highway. Strikes a good balance between power and economy. • Eco Mode: The mode to engage when you want the maximum range. Throttle response is dumbed down, which actually results in a smoother drive in the city (less of that "torque-pull" effect). Power comes in more gradually when you ask for it. However, even in this mode, the motor does not feel dull to drive. There's enough grunt for day-to-day driving and overtaking. The performance of the air-con, however, drops noticeably in this mode. • Sport Mode: The mode when you really want to have fun. While Normal mode will keep you entertained 90% of the time, Sport mode is for the remaining 10%. The accelerator response is even sharper and the car just feels more eager to pounce. However, it can feel too peaky for city driving and also eats up the battery faster. Use "Sport" when you're looking for fun on expressway runs." https://www.team-bhp.com/news/2022-mg-zs-ev-facelift-observations-after-4-days-driving#:~:text=Eco Mode%3A
  12. Wife installed the iSmart app at the dealer before we left, so you may want to pop back in if can't sort it out. We had it on the ZS ICE, and TBH, never used it. She has it (for EV) on her phone, and again, I can't see myself ever needing, using it. The car tells me the same. One less app on the phone and I'm happy. Just make sure you understand how and when to use the Mode & KERS settings. You may want to change from the defaults on start up. Rest is pretty basic. Pop into the dealer, and have them register you for the Charging, If not already, and do a tester there. Before scratching your head on the road.
  13. I like good food, nice drinks, quit the cigars, and occasional live music. Only need 1 house, and the kid is out of Uni & self sufficient now. Although was going through about 35k a month for about 5 yrs. Money well invested for her future, with many returns. Implied ability to live inexpensively, doesn't mean we do. Only have 2 vices/addictions ... sex & food, easily satisfied. All smiles here ????
  14. Discovered the 'Mode' button, and right next to the 'KERS' button ... go figure ... yea, I'm a little slow sometimes. Normal is the default on start. Eco vs Sport, and you can squeeze another 17% out of your charge/range????
  15. If I'm recommending or reviewing a venue, a photo says a bit more than me simply saying 'it was good'. I appreciate others that do the same, when I'm researching.
  16. Mind boggling, that someone, if 1 winner, is on there way to being an instant billionaire. That's taking the cash pay out, as will break 2B before #s drawn and receive half. Literally impossible to spend that, as going over in my head what I'd do with my winnings, and it's mind bobbling how much that actually is. With no investment, (1 billion) that's $137k USD a day for 20 years. How do you spend that much.
  17. Shows some of us aren't living on Ha Baht soup & cans of Archa beer.
  18. If on a legit marriage visa, then 40k a month is probably spent wisely. If on a legit retirement visa, no family, or just wife, then should be plenty extra for that smile. 65k a month is actually hard to spend if no vices. At present, since no real bills, could easily live on 10-15k a month, and comfy at that, with the wife. With rent, electric & petrol bill, we easily lived on 30-35k a month, just a few months ago. If single, I might need an extra 10k, and not for P4P, as don't need for 'social smiles'. No need to spend 60k a month, IMO, unless feeding your vices.
  19. My smile is worth every baht we spend. Average 50k a month ... my bank account wishes. Last year: New house w/Solar System New lot next door for wife's garden New motorbike New car Can't take it with you, and prepping for the future, after I krap out. Hopefully not too soon. Moving forward, now wife will have next to -0- monthly bills, aside from food not grown in the garden. Just a water bill. No sense in saving, as inflation is more than any interest earned or COLA from USA Soc Sec income. Worth more now if spent ... ???? Smile now ... Die later ...
  20. Need to go to the shop, and talk to whoever in charge. Nothing takes that long. My first Vios that I bought, the dealer sent paperwork in, apparently incorrectly, and nothing was done for months. They didn't care, since I paid cash. If I hadn't pressed the issue, it would have never been registered. Good Luck.
  21. Not sure about technique, but depends how long it was sitting, and the weather. If sitting idle a few months, then I'd take it to the small engine shop, let him 'clean' it up, as saves me about 50 MF'ers and sore arm. Well worth the 100 or 200 baht. If cool season, then I'd set it in the sun for an hour or 3, let it warm up.
  22. I don't think so. I draws 2.3kW according to chart posted earlier.
  23. Only ignorant or stupid people that don't do any research beforehand. No different than living in any other country.
  24. Yes ... I've live here for 22+ yrs, basically rent free, and some tidy profits, from Land/Houses, that basically paid for our present house, and then some.
