  1. Going for stylish or practical (retractable aluminum). As mentioned, pharmacy for practical or any tourist / trinket shop will have wooden ones. Of course there is always online, LAZ has more than a few available.
  2. If you haven't gotten it yet, then you must be doing something right. And new strains are apparently very mild, and you'll be lucky to realize you even have it, or any symptoms worse than common flu or cold. I wouldn't bother myself, and simply wait & see, and treat the symptoms, if any, that you develop. All you plan on carrying around with yourself is readily available OTC.
  3. 'Woke' ... just another label I tend to ignore. Good for a headliner, and that's about it. Anyone using labels needs to get a life, and to join the undivisive human race.
  4. A fine endorsement for scamming the system ... hmm Pretend to be a resident when you are not to use the services you are not longer supporting tax wise. Theft & fraud ... lovely
  5. There's more than a few people, legally buying guns with bad intent. Here, it's much easier to not buy legally if a criminal type. Don't understand the negative replies, to such a simple and straight forward op-ed. He thinks the gun laws are appropriated, and I have to agree. Being a past gun dealer, I can definitely understand his thoughts of not selling a gun to someone he doesn't trust, even if legal to sell to and own. I've done that myself to people I know, and refused to sell them a gun. If you're large shop, and they have the proper paperwork or able to buy, hard not to sell to then unless you personally know them. They've already been vetted here in Thailand. The cost of legal guns in Thailand is quite high. Silly high. More than enough unregistered guns here also, same worldwide.
  6. They'd call that a 'flat white' here. Don't need anything special to make the coffee for that. Whatever you have will do, just need strong coffee with that much milk added.
  7. OK, so this is a holiday, single, no transport ? Do you want nightlife, P4P, or extrovert enough to not need to pay ? Where are you starting the adventure from ?
  8. Woke ... not yet Don't think I need to be, as always been non judgmental and accepting. Kind of fit right in.
  9. They're not documentaries, they're comedies, and would probably be banned today... ... nuff said
  10. Yo kids ... Tandy / DOS only ... screeching phone conx ... ???? And damn expensive ... speeds, hold on, I'll go make coffee ... ????
  11. Excellent. Favorite Gulf beach when cooperating. Same with Thung Wua Laen (16 kms N of Chumphon). When I discovered these, and if surf cooperating, I stopped going to Phuket. If Ban Krut had a Makro, we'd be living there. Less than 1 hour S of us. Hua Hin, just over 1 hr N of us. Didn't finalize plan to live here / PKK till they opened a Makro ????
  12. Mirrors my experience with 4 purchases. 2 were in stock, as entry, no options, Vios/Udon Thani. Mazda2 / UT, told a month, and arrived early. MG / Hua Hin, told a month and arrived early.
  13. You can get nice ones for 15-20k, and good spec'd. There selling point is portability. Put 1 or 2 in the trunk, and you got knock around town transport when you arrive somewhere.
  14. Just saw your other reply, 3-7days, as I thought you were considering living in one of them. Where you coming from ? and assume you have transport, as needed, to really explore, except for the metros.
  15. With 1 exception, have only played tourist, and not one to stay long, though multiple visits to most: Ubon ... 5 OK, close to river, not too touristy/expat infected. Mukdahan ... 5 ... river town, a plus, need to self entertain That Phanom ... 8 nice river town, need to self entertain Nakhon Phanom ... 8 Same as That ... stone's throw away. Laos close by (bridge) Khon Kaen ... 4 ... been there numerous times, never warmed up to it. Udon Thani ... Lived there 16 yrs, not entirely by choice, but good mix. Best metro in crappy area to live, besides Krung Thep, for metro living. Great food town, and diverse landscape on edge of plateau, if going out to peek out. Most that live there, haven't a clue. Horrible expat community ???? Nong Khai ... 9 for NE, nice river town, more to do than others, close to Chiang Khan & Vientianne. Vientianne ... only visited, more than few times. Love it, but, visa and inter Laos relationships would make for a huge problem living there Phitsanulok ... too short of visit, nice natural area, but really can't say much Sukhothai ... 7 old - rural ... 8 new - rural with some comforts Lopburi ... NO - monkeys turn me off, never been more than 1 day ??? Khorat ... 4 been more than a few times, never warmed up to it Nakhon Sawan ... 7 liked it, and need to pop back in for visit, as long time ago Education & hospitals, are only going to be available at the metros: Udon Thani, KK, Korat, Ubon Really not a fan of anywhere, living there, N of about Hua Hin, due to the air pollution half the year. It's horrible too many months. Even HH gets it. We (PKK) get it for about 2 months, near AQI of 75-100 Go South if you can, you won't regret. Damn hot though, as no real cool season. OK overnight when rainy season, actually quite nice of late. Days can & will be brutal at times.
  16. Yea, it is. I really don't care about the past, it's gone, and nothing evolution wise interests or benefits my 'now'. Really not that interested in the future, as don't really expect to be around that long, 10 maybe, 15 or 20 more years, that's a stretch. My future references are more like, when the damn EV gettin' here, Xmas ?. What to do with the ICE, though I think that is solved. Now, where to go first, on a 2 week out & about ? Got about 4 months to plan, so plenty of time to set up new house, and that's my future till next year. That's about as far as I can, or need to think ahead. Pass New Years is a mystery, just the way like it. My fellow Christian brothers (real brothers) are hard thinking and expecting the 2nd coming or eternal afterlife. Praise Jesus. Yea, we don't talk much ... ???? At least avoid that subject. I'm busy chuckling at the folk worried about that 1°C uptick in the temp over the next 100 yrs they won't be around for, or even happen. Or the 30cm of rising tide that is a big nothing. More wasted time, and the ultimate waste ... thinking about space travel & colonization of other rocks out there. That will never .... ever happen. Can't even keep shuttles safely in the air. And at the speed of 'you're dead before you arrive' ... ????
  17. Proving the bible is the farce that it is, too easy, but, doesn't answer the query ... ... GOD ... yay or nay ? Nay if taken in the context of the bible ... creating all. Then he/she/it has a terrible sense of humor. Cancer, covid, WMD ... what an A$$hole. Yay ... been some miraculous things happen, that simply are hard to explain scientifically. If you believe in GOD, then belief in afterlife follows. I'm nay on both those. Any and all version that are preached.
  18. Deleted already, but think I got an email when shipped (and maybe payment confirmation), then simply followed the tracking service. Ordered 7th, shipped 9th, received 11th @ Prachuap Khiri Khan.
  19. Nah, don't hang out with them either ... ???? I don't do negative ... PEACE & LOVE BABY ...
  20. Guessing it would depend on what model, options, color. Time to go do some window shopping and ask.
  21. The simple fact we have to ask permission to stay, every year, yes, we ARE guests. Been hearing the same complaints for 20+ years, all passed up the 'chain of command' and have noticed absolutely no change for our benefits. Only good changes, enforcement of Imm rules, which got rid of some complainers ????
  22. Happily I've been unjudgmental of folks ever since I could think for myself, surprisingly, from about 6 yrs old ???? I think I would have answered 'Lou' in my most feminine voice ... "oh honey, we ain't all that bad" ????
  23. Depends. 2nd house, I forgot about the axis, and in Dec, plotted it out, when sun comes up due E. Then July, got a 20° N'ern angle to it, and blinding when coming out of the bedroom in the early AM. As N wall was mostly glass. Didn't really affect temp much, as tinted and AC on most of the time. Probably used a bit more electric till about 1030 hrs. Of course if build the house to block that, then Dec, setting sun would come in, and would depend where you are and which you prefer, if either. Pretty much a non issue, but something to be aware of. Again, an extended roof, would solve that. Present house has no exposure on S wall, E & W has long extended roof, with veranda on E side & might get 2 hrs in the AM, at most. W almost none, as carport on that side. Again, not that it matters, as well built & insulated w/AC on all the time.
  24. Use this for frothing, and works surprisingly well, and surprisingly, has lasted years. All of 60 baht from Daiso.
