  1. I used to shower at work, only because I was hungover, and or running late. Or never made it home to begin with, the night prior. After the first wave of flights, (1 hr) I'd shower and be fresh for the rest of the day.
  2. If I ever returned to the USA, that is exactly what I have in mind to do. Wouldn't be for a year, but till my end of days. Really can't think of a better existence if I returned. Being nomadic works for me, always has. And NO ... family would think that's way too cool, and not a nutter. We're like minded in that aspect.
  3. As safe as anywhere IF using common sense.
  4. AR-15 is simply better for most uses: https://www.diffen.com/difference/AK-47_vs_AR-15 Not a fan of the AR-15, especially for the price. Thought my Ruger Mini 14 a far superior firearm. If I could only have 1, it would be the Mini 14. AK-47 was fun to shoot. FN49 even more enjoyable, as was my Mauser 8mm. Both very heavy and would hate to haul them around the forest if hunting. For home defense, 357mag, or pistol grip short Mossberg 12ga would be my choice, and owned both. Glock 9mm for concealed carry, is pretty hard to beat.
  5. I doubt if the AR-15 is used by any military, so no, it is not a weapon of war.
  6. CEA & AFP are cancer marker tests, routinely given with a check up. I always get a full abdominal ultrasound.
  7. Wrong. It's also available in semi-auto, as I owned one. Guessing the AR15 is much lighter and cheaper than the AK.
  8. Left UT about 7 yrs ago. Have also had Makro's Australian beef picanha, and agree, some of the best around. Prefer that, as I get to cut the steaks thick. As stated earlier, the 2 for 1s at Gourmet Market, Hua Hin, are decent values also, when available, for those in the area.
  9. That behavior (in OP) would have been inappropriate, anywhere, anytime. Extremely lucking he didn't end up in the ER.
  10. If not mentioned already: ... " transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP)" Friend had it done here/TH (Udon Thani), and said best decision he ever made and regretted not having it done much earlier. Google is your friend.
  11. I actually edited (deleted) post you quoted as, close enough, and didn't want to add to the silliness .... BUT ... since you asked.
  12. Problem with TH, is the consistency or lack of quality/rating of beef. Pricing is just way too silly for some. When in Udon Thani, use to get quality inexpensive tenderloins from Tops, Other cuts at the time were krap. Then CP/Central took over the mall & Tops, with major revamp & silly prices. Also use to buy from Thai-French, and decent, but very inconsistent quality. I rarely buy beef steaks now, though usually peek at them, and usually give them a pass. If I want beef flavor now, it's burger. Rare occasions, if Gourmet Markets (Hua Hin) & 'You Hunt We Cook' has a good rib-eye (2 for 1), then I'll have them cook it up for me. So far the only vendor that actually knows how to cook a steak, and always excellent. If nothing look good, off to the food court/hall vendors for excellent Spicy Fruit Salad, and an excellent Chicken Wrap, or Quesadilla, for fraction of the cost, though not as satisfying.
  13. With many expenses, I'm a thrifty shopper/CC ... call it what you want. Though I will spend for value. I don't tip, aside from small change, as that is the accepted practice here, non tourist area. If in a tourist area, probably don't tip there either, as service usually doesn't deserve it, most cases. Over the past few years, actually forever, my purchases/'investments' have been geared to cost savings, ex: solar system & EVs. I always play the long game. That it helps lesson my carbon footprint and lessens air pollution, is a nice side benefit of. But savings and being spiteful toward PEA & PTT was the main motivator. Save & use rainwater, it's there, so use it, instead of paying PWA for it. Though ROI for that, is a long ways off, IF ever. We don't compromise on food, as enjoy it too much. If we can make it, great, as it is much cheaper, usually, and tastes better, along with healthier. I don't haggle prices, but I don't find myself overpaying either. We could easily sleep in the car, since running AC all night is possible now with an EV, and use the resort's poolside showers, if really wanted to be 'mean' with our money, but I'm not that much of a CC .... yet. Or willing to give up the comfort of soft bed & ensuite toilet. Won't stay at dumps, or eat substandard food to save money. I deserve more, and sometime spend what others would consider silly money for some things, but I don't care. Me Me Me attitude, it's my money, and I'm worth it. Mixed bag of going out of my way to save a few baht, to doing, spending whatever .... because it puts a smile on my face, and I just don't care, how much it cost.
  14. I used to order meats (frozen) from Patts to Udon Thani, and shipped by bus, and never signs of thawing on arrival.
  15. Depends why you think the sanctions were put in place to begin with. To force RU to withdraw from UA ? ... ... that's funny Or to boost profits of the non-RU fossil fuel industry ? ... since the only result of the sections, I'd say they were extremely successful.
  16. Considered that myself occasionally. But gnawing on animal flesh is simply too satisfying, and can't find a comparable veggy alternative. Whether soft and succulent rib-eye or tenderloin, to spicy Wing Zap @ KFC, to tough chewy jerky. I've accepted being a carnivore, although, if having to kill my food / meat, I'd probably only eat seafood as a meat source. They cry and scream in agony at a frequency I can't hear, much like plants. AND ... yes they do: "Researchers in Israel found that plants make a high frequency clicking sound when placed under stress. During a six year study, the researchers listened to a variety of plants including tomatoes, grapevines, tobacco and wheat. The plants made noises when they were cut or when they were thirsty." https://www.euronews.com/green/2023/04/02/scientists-have-recorded-the-sound-plants-make-when-they-are-under-stress#:~:text=Researchers in Israel found that,or when they were thirsty.
  17. Hence the problem, when the profiteers control your govt. Only 40ish % from renewables and not developed over the past decades since MMGW/CC was known. Pretty obvious, fossil fuel industry still control the world's energy production (2020)- wiki Fine example of minimal progress of electric production. Not much change: It's a work in progress, at least a few countries (EU) are trying, and 50+% is from renewables.
  18. I can only directly control what I have access to. Hydrogen for transport might be good for trucking industry, but a bit impractical for personal car use, besides not available here. Actually moving toward self sufficiency, except for some, lots of food items. We do avoid most processed foods. Fruit & veggy garden is a work in progress, rain water half the year, solar & EV, are about all I can control. Seems others aren't trying at all and simply don't care. To busy talking about what others should do. People can chose to be part of the solution, or continue to be the problem. Some (most) talk, some (very few) do .... UP2U
  19. Agree 100% and why we all should have solar & driving EVs. But ............... yea, there's that ????
  20. PP on the cusps of high/low season.
  21. Rib-Eye Salt, pepper, MSG hot skillet 1 min, then turn every minute till reach desired internal temp ~125F, rest for 5 mins. No real need to take out of frig early, as internal temp drops very little. Reverse sear after oven or sous vid works excellent also, if you have patience. No need to rest after searing.
  22. Apple Martini ... Stoli w/wee bit Apple Schnapps. Surprisingly tasty. Chickie friend was addicted to them, and turned me on to them. We used to get wacked ... fun nights. Those & Long Island Iced Teas were my demon alcohols when wanting to escape to world. LIITs were pretty much all liquor also, considering the small amount/ratio of lemon & coke that was added.
