  1. I personally have no desire to be on the road more than, 300 kms / 4 hrs a day, so topping up isn't much of a inconvenience vs baht saved. If I am, then that 30-60 minute stop will be very welcomed. The ICE will be gone after the EV arrives, as having no real practical use for it afterwards. Have no need or desire to own 2 cars, along with paying additional tax, insurance, petrol & maintenance cost needed for the 'extra' ICE to sit in the driveway.
  2. And for those who keep spewing the same battery BS ... NO they, the battery packs, don't need to be replaced after the warranty expires. Read this, if thinking about repeating the same silliness. It will save your embarrassment. Click on the very top, where it states 'minutes ago'
  3. As inexpensive as hotels are, camping in car certainly isn't a pressing issue here, unless wanting to be at a nice viewpoint maybe, in private, or travel with a dog, and last minute decision to overnight, and don't feel like finding a pet friendly guesthouse. Camping can be fun, but unless a bit north, in a cooler season, I need my AC. Something not recommended, overnight, in an ICE, obviously. As pointed out, if you want to wake up the next day. This one is just how to & comfort level. @ 6:55 into vid, he's finally settled in, if wanting to fast forward. Comfy, even with 1 or 2 Asian women to join you ...???? This one a bit more detail, on battery consumption over 24 hr period, from noon to noon. Good info, first 6 hrs / 15%, then 5%, than another 10 ish %, and less than 35% total. That with outside temp of 35 ish C (in shade), and overnight < 25 ish C. Also points out, cool season = smog season, especially N of us, and why we usually go to all points south. N is damn unhealthy for you, and so much for those mountain vistas, and the only reason I'd visit. For the short version, specs from vid:
  4. If it has red seal on it, only one (red) I'm familiar with, then it's a proper chanote, and can be transferred, to anyone, anytime. I personally wouldn't invest in anything less. Any thing less, and it may be restricted, for transferring (possibly family only) and restricted on use, farm use, may or may not allow structures, and I'm guessing on the structure part. Red seal chanote is what you want for building your home on, or investing & selling, without waiting possibly years, for the proper chanote, then you can sell.
  5. I'll probably plant some, and smoke a bit. About the same as my alcohol intake, maybe 1 a week, if that, as I do enjoy a healthy liver & lungs. Teens till 30, was a regular smoker of. 30 to 45 yrs old, maybe weekly. Move here and pretty much stopped. Maybe 1 oz in 22 years, and that was over just one 2 yr stretch. Don't think it was the newer stronger stuff, but since hadn't smoked it in so long, got a nice buzz & cough from it.
  6. Whoa ... that's a wee bit more than I'd thought. Car has 30k kms on it now, and at 9 baht more a liter, that's and extra 25k baht. I can think of better things to spend that on instead of a different grade petrol.
  7. Brings back memories of the BullDog in Amsterdam. Blame VH ... ????
  8. That's one concern I have, as our car uses E85, which is hard enough to find as it is. Would think that would be one of the first to be discontinued. We don't like paying 37 baht, would hate to have to pay 46, as a 25% increase.
  9. Since you can bang 'em into the ground, 1k sounds about right. Overkill would be an under statement. Hope she got permission from next door.
  10. Not really, depending on what one means by 'new'. ... MG 3 has been offered here since 2015. And as pointed out, produced even earlier, 2008. Far from new. Neta V ... Ora Good Cat ... they're new. Other new ones maybe here now or coming, aren't in the budget: https://www.cars24.co.th/blog/en/9-new-cars-entering-the-thai-market-in-2022-many-are-ready-to-shake-the-car-industry-with-their-innovations-of-the-future/
  11. Probably, but does anyone ever roll the windows down. Mine are always up & AC on, unless I'm paying a toll ... that's rare. I peeked in one a while back, and quite nice for price point. One on display in Lotus today, looking good. Would be my first choice, as the others don't offer much for 2-300k more.
  12. For myself, EVs = freedom, independence and self control. Especially if charging by solar. NO dependence on any corporation or govt. Out on e-scooter today, my usual daily run with the dog, park & surfside cruise, < 10 kms. Then took the e-bike, over to Lotus, counter payment for online shopping. Popped out to the house build. Stopped at 7-11 on the return, again < 10 km runs, with plenty of battery left over. Actually 3rd day riding, without charging, and loving the new battery. Locally, I have no need for a petrol car. Could almost do all our shopping with the e-scooter, as many do on MBs, or even add a side cart to it, and definitely do all local shopping with it. Saw photos of someone already doing with same model I have. Passed the PTT, 91/95 @ ฿46 ish per L, and for no reason but greed / price gouging IMHO Oil companies / refineries making billion $$$ record profits worldwide, with govts trying to pass windfall taxes on them, to get their slice of the pie. Not helping the little guy/gals financing the profits, and if taxed, and probably won't benefit from that either, as they'll simply waste it, like every other tax $$$. Luckily, there's an EV priced for every budget. E-motorcycles starting @ ฿37k, with removeable batteries, so no excuse on not being able to charge at home. Simply add a side cart if needing. Wet cell EV car start < ฿200k, Lithium battery cars start @ 400k (low specs), with real full size cars starting @ ฿600k. Same price, even cheaper than the most popular ICE available now. 300 kms range, an easy reality now, with plenty of charging stations. Though do you really want to be on the road more than 4 hours a day. Today's fun in the sun rides, with wind in face ... LOVELY

Since you have the insurance, why do it as on out patient, and simply spend the night. That is why you got the insurance to begin with. Just a thought.
  14. I may be adding 'subsistence farming' as new hobby. Picked up 1/4 rai adjacent to the house. Prepping for the apocalypses ???? No critters though, OK, maybe a couple chickens if we screen in most of the lot, but I don't feel like maintaining a coop, cleaning. Which would mean a lot of screening, though would keep the squirrels away from the figs, tomatoes & strawberries, along with predators. Wouldn't mind fresh eggs.
  15. "My budget is 300K BHT for a used one" New Suzuki Celerio starts at 328k, and supposedly gets 20 kpL. Cheap buy in & operating costs https://www.suzuki.co.th/model/celerio?utm_source=sem&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=SuzukiCelerio_awo&utm_content=suzuki celerio&utm_term=brandpromo_textad2&gclid=Cj0KCQjw-pCVBhCFARIsAGMxhAc6B6nFV3r9odJbWdithz3YUStsKXLNkOWKEVD6kpZh7DcxSnxBdNEaAuBzEALw_wcB
  16. Next time checking out with your bowl of noodle purchase ... "tired of these noodles ... you know good noodle shop, maybe good khao soi, or tom yam?" "maybe you can show me someday" ... plant the seed, see how many smiles you get afterwards.
  17. "A torrent is a file sent via the BitTorrent protocol. It can be just about any type of file, such as a movie"
  18. I, we, never bought seeds before. Just saved from what ever great weed we had. Those seeds you use, or saved if not spring.
  19. nah, not the best way, as means killing them. cage and relocate.
  20. Seeds last a really long time(1+ yr), even longer if you put in the frig. Really not a problem here, but know people used to store for more than a few months, until the spring thaw.
  21. Lately too much time on this damn thing, waiting on house to get finished. Daily stroll at park & surf with the dog, along with scooter ride. Maybe ebike out to the house build. Photography, as a hobby, though needing some inspiration of late. Drones on hold, again, till house is done. RC plane, cars & boats also, yep, still a kid at heart. Pedal bike, when not too windy out. Don't mind brutal temps, but a headwind sucks. Chill surfside, actual beach time. Lot's of out & about, again, on hold, as need to be here for final touches on the house build. Mostly head south for those, unless popping up to Krung Thep to visit daughter. Only a couple restaurants locally that we like, so explore looking for new ones, within 50 kms, just to get out of house. Something surfside, lakeside or hillside view will motivate us to visit. If food sucks, then an OK day out. Dog gets in some new sniffs, I might get snap of a new bird species or some other critter. Can be a challenge, self entertaining when retired. Not a night owl or alcohol drinker. Nights are torrents.
  22. Used to do the ol' damn paper towel thingy for germinating seeds. Great success rate. Tossing the extra seeds in the tomato & strawberry garden worked also, low yield for the amounts, but a few extra plants never hurt. Friends always appreciated free plants. All this chit chat has got me interested again.
  23. Posted elsewhere, daughter in marketing, and regrets not learning Chinese, as top earners in the company are fluent in. English not really needed as much, though still a major plus for her, since her English is excellent, and part of why she got hired. That's the 3 pay grades / departments. .... nuff said.
